    Front Hops

'Tis tricky to be sure , one of those moves that has no practical applications , yet looks kick ass and helps all other aspects of riding / balance . You ride 24 " ? Does the geometry perhaps make this unusually difficult ? Aside from nudging the rear end with your ankles and little twists at the bar , I guess this one's gonna call for a whole load of practice . Unlike most moves , which require the rider stay kinda loose , it may help top "lock "your arms rigid . I remember being amazed to see Lenosky do this on the Evolve video ...aah , the memories ...
  2. Nope , headset spacers will not fit , but you could simply strip an existing cassette and use the harvested spacers and lockring . Be sure to ensure a good chainline .
  3. Gosh ! Obese Michael's really rather good . Neat editing too , definately a keeper .
  4. Thanks , hadn't seen that video first time around , does daanhillaaa win for funniest renamed link ever ?
  5. 4 :"> . I'm fashionably incompetent at sidehoppin'.
  6. Great , thanks for the heads up . A good store just got better . w00t !
  7. Hmm , I know that my TA26's rear triangle gets "pulled" in about 5-7 mm when tightening a Q.R , the dropouts kinda seem to sit wider than is neccesary . :P What hub is Conner using ? If , as you say , the dropouts are only beginning to touch the ends of the axle after 1cm of movement , that doesn't sound healthy , given the stresses placed on them during riding . You say the frame is new - to him , or shop new ? It's a new TA26 right ? Not the previous version with the strut betwen the top and downtube ? Kinda curious about this , keep us posted .
  8. Casual stupid comment about something he has no knowledge of to look 'ard in front of his "mates" because he has no imagination : IDIOT . You'd been riding , which implies skill , agility and all that , yet Mr. Stupid Attacker can't even avoid a post : IDIOT . He then feels his ego tarnished in the presence of his female companions , so feels the need to vent his anger on you instead of his own ignorance and lack of coordination : IDIOT. Narrowminded sense of self worth regained , he realises he's inlicted a serious injury , but hey , he's shown his lady friends who's boss . Really cool : IDIOT . You did the right thing by not reponding , and can live and ride in the knowledge that years from now , alone and unloved in prison he'll realise that every choice he made in his life has been rewarded by the laws of harmonious retribution . Idiot...
  9. Dunno about scooters , but nightwork is a great choice . As you can see by the timestamp of this post , I work between 23;00 'till 07;00 most nights , as hotel security . It's the best ever ! I'm the only member of staff present , and have the entire office to myself so having done most of my tasks , I'm left with a whole night to watch DVDs , draw , read and hang out on some forum about bicycles (Y) . Good pay and excellent conditions if you can adjust to living nocturnally . Other benefits include free food and drink from a 4 star kitchen , and a valid excuse to sleep all day . Ask around at local hotels if they need night watchmen , and look into achieving a security diploma .
  10. Some really tasteful ickle bikes here , there seems to be a trend among senior members , like 3 or 4 have posted BMXes . I own a G.T Hot Wheels , cheap , garish graphics but great for scooting around town on .
  11. Looks like a good ride . Great to see an old style base TA26 in one of the photos , that blue looks sweet .

    Idea!

Great idea , what is trials anyway if not challenging / encouraging eachother ? The only downside is that this will be more of a spectator sport for those of us not blessed with digital cameras / incredible skills . Can't wait for the first gauntlet to be thrown down.
  13. Seems I misled you too , suggesting that RooX manufacture white cranks . :"> I suspect they've been discontinued , sorry 'bout that , hope you manage to find some .
  14. Whenever I watch Mr. Hermance I don't know whether to be inspireed , or just quit and take up knitting or something . Dude's too dammned good . As usual , excellent video , Mr. Tonkery .
  15. Sounds like an interesting project , much like I'm intending on doing but in Blue . As I understand it , RooX manufacture a crankset in white and they're suitable for trials too , as Orange's Petr Kraus ( Hugely underrated rider ) runs / ran them . Keep us updated , wanna see the finished article .
  16. Warning : Virtual Mammary low ? :)
  17. Any ideas if a Koxx front rim ( 26") would be suitable for use on the rear ? I ask because there's no way I could set up a V-Brake on a super wide rim , and would ride it fairly lightly . Apologies for thread hijack .

    Cui!

 great pics ...The guy's probably a hugely talented trials maestro for whom no obstacle is challenging , so felt the need to give himself an alcohol induced "handicap. " On the picture of him lying , he was attempting the ultimate switch footed riding : left foot on right pedal etc . Sweet bike setup too , 21 inch prototype frame , anyone ? :)
  19. Now what Anal Teflon said was very funny , but 1 : He didn't resort to blaming any ethnic / political group . 2 : Albeit jokingly , he found fault with himself , as opposed to seeking elsewhere. Now if Bush et al could similary look at the bigger picture , and look at themselves as honestly , seeking the root cause of their troubles , they might find where the problem really lies . Therefore , Mr. Anal Teflon unwittingly stated a deeply insightful philosophical truth .
  20. Like it's predecessors , this was great . Good riding , well filmed and the obligatory killer soundtrack . Loving the slide / skid under barrier . Look forward to the next .
  21. Sounds awesome , and can only be good for the public perception of our sport . Can't make it , as I live in Holland , but I'll be rooting for the U.K riders . There's few other sports where the pros are so accessible , being able to ride with Hermance (N) . Have fun , guys and girls .
  22. Further to my post about modding mechs for Singlespeed : Does the stress placed on the freehub body vary depending on if the cog is placed further in or out ( nearer or further from spokes ) ? I'm running a single cog , and have filled the excess space with , erm , well spacers (N) , but I thought I'd place the cog far in towards the spokes , believing this would reduce stress on the hub ( XTR ) . Does this make any difference ? I know for sure that a cog with a wider base would help , but even then , provided I can achieve a good chainline , surely it's more damaging to put it far outside , by the lockring , as opposed to nearer the hub . Come on , you technical drivetrainologists , any theories ?
  23. Thanks for the replies , gentlemen . I'm currently running my mech as Killbobuk suggested , and have tried using simply my limiting screws at the back to position the jockey wheels over the cog , but it seems I'll need longer screws as Daanhilla suggested . I'm guessing that should do the trick perfectly , as I'm running my cog quite far inboard on my freehub body ( nearer spokes .) Oooh ! I get to save , like , 1 gram off my bike . I was expecting replies along the lines of "Dude , just get a chain tensioner " etc , but I wanna continue to use my trusty ( if heavy ) mech . Thanks , guys . (N)
  24. I'm hoping someone can advise me about modding / bodging a rear mech ( a Shimano Ultegra. ) What I want to achieve is the removal of the cable clamp , adjuster and the cable itself , so as to lock the mech laterally , preventing side to side movement . Basically this , as shown in diagram A : I've seen plenty of topics concering removal of the tension spring to prevent up and down "slapping", but I want to achieve lateral locking , given that I run S.S . On the picture ( someone's GU ) there seems to be a screw at the back , is that keeping the cage in place ? Is the spring still present ? Any ideas ? (N)
  25. Thanks for the link , 666ers , good price fot XTR levers . It's getting time to replace my XTs , which like most described above , did excellent service for a long time 'till the bushing perished .
