Whats The Thing To Learn To Trials
Endohopper replied to M-a-d Bennett's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Your first few months / half year will be decisive as to how you progress . Try to ride with other riders , learning from others is the best and most fun way . -
It's often difficult to " unlearn" bad habits from when we begun . Be aware of your foot placement on your pedals , especially when setting up for a big move . Incidentally , what pedals do you run ?
-
My main criteria of my own progress is enjoyment .
-
Interesting project , one I'd discarded as being impossible without acess to proper tools , but reading people's advice here changed my mind . I'm very interested how your attempt turns out , please keep us posted , with pictures if possible .
-
I need to get a life , I actually visualized this perfectly as soon as I read it :ermm: . Neat photographs , folks . Still very fond of Ashton frames .
-
Very entertaining commentary on the " PSP . " What a piece of cheapo , mass produced rip off c**p .
-
One of the best trials videos I've seen in a long time ... Dude on Vinco and he happens to ride a Koxx Marc Vinco frame
-
Best video of 2005 , as far as I'm concerned . Great video quality , supersmooth riding , and stylish editing . The rollback on that skinny wall ? :P This gentleman would appear to be a somewhat talented rider . More , please .
-
Congratulations , nothing like new shiny bits . I don't want to urinate on your pyrotechnics however , but I've had pretty poor experiences with Truvativ bottom brackets , specifically their D / H unit . Runs pretty smooth , but has a short life expectancy . Gotta love Zebdsi s though .
-
Well she's a beaut and I especially like the SS spacer , however I expect this is likely to get locked pretty quick . Secondly , this lovely bike makes your member name somewhat irrelevant , too . Decent roof drop , by the way .
-
A very innovative company indeed , applying emerging technologies to trials . Shame , then that they seem to be unconcerned with getting a decent host / server for their website . Nomination for slowest site ever ?
-
Your bicycle looks great , and I have no critcism of your new brakes , however you seem to be running a full range MTB cassette . Uneccesarily heavy , and having found a front chainring you're happy with , you can fine tune variations with a smaller ( and lighter ) road cassette . Better still , go singlespeed , even lighter and totally hassle free , less cables etc . Only downside - high class competitions DO require working gears . Neat bike , dude .
-
This can only be good , despite being an initiative of a specific retailer it's still a promotion of the sport of observed trials in general . I'll do my bit by being the only one in Holland to wear one , largely 'cause I'm the only damned rider out here . Besides , the blue will suit my bike perfectly .
-
I'd not be terribly bothered by exactly what kind of shop / manufacturer sponsors me , my main concern would be what is expected of me and for them to have a genuine interest in promoting trials in general . Beyond that , any reputable company that will allow me to learn and grow as a rider will please me , but I realise that sponsorship is a 2 way deal , with them expecting their riders to behave professionally and be aware of the company's image at all times . But right now , I'd ride for Team Bin Laden if it got me shiny goodies . :turned: . ( Well , maybe not , but most riders dream of exposure and recognition .)
-
" That doesn't sound good... :turned: " Major understatement , given how far you'd driven . For what it's worth - nice opening move and what an awesome spot , looks to offer good riding . How did you arrive @ a figure of 14.5 % ? Is there a unit of measurement for hapiness , perhaps invented by a politician to illustrate how effective his / her policies are ? Gutted either way , but look upon the incident as a tantalizing glimpse of what trials related joys await you at those rocks .
-
I rather like the looks of both of those , although Zona's Zenith reminds me somewhat of the Czar Ivan , with that funky headtube . This can only be good for us and the industry if manufacturers keep releasing newer frames , often improvements on those of others .
-
Sure , fitting thicker / stronger tubes will help , but it may be worth inspecting your rim carefully . After infaltion , ensure the bead of the tyre is correctly seated and when you get an opportunity , check your rim and it's tape for protrusions , excess metal or any irregularities .

Managed to find these .... Coloured spokes ... seems to be a nice selection of colour , but I'm uncertain as to how trustworthy they are . That said , blue spokes might just be the finishing touch to my wheelset...:P
-
Sorry for the n00b question , but Gigabyte = manufacturer's name , or a property of the board itself ?:P
-
I expect we've all encountered this at some point , and yes it does suck greatly . Suggestions ? Get plenty of sleep , ride with others , drink plenty of fluids , dehydrations massively affects focus and is often overlooked . Other than that , the usual live healthy vibes . Hope you get over it .
-
Well , I'm not one to pass up an opportunity to show off my bike , despite it's lack of " fashionable " componentry like Middleburn , Try - All , Chris King etc... Suits me just fine .

How Do You Strip And Prepare Forks For Spraying?
Endohopper replied to ollie's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Most folks use some nasty chemical c**p called Nitromors , which basically melts the paint off frames / forks . Then there's sandblasting , but this requires special equipment . Having removed the paint my best advice is to read This article as it's really well written and very helpful . Let us know how you get on . -
True or otherwise , whomever imagined the concept needs psychiatric counselling / imprisonment . By the way , it occured to me that there's so many nails on that pictured "bed " and are so closely spaced that one's weight would be very evenly distributed . That got me thinking that with a wide rim and good pressure , you may just be able to ride a trials bike over that . ( Withot flatting , I mean B) . ) Could be wrong .

Transfering Components To A New Frame?
Endohopper replied to Has anyone seen my shoe?'s topic in Trials Chat
Indeed . Any 1 & 1 Eighth A- Head headset will work . Congratulations on your new frame . Incidentally MNT -Oli's reply is extremely well written and helpful , showing that some validations were well chosen , and will make real contributions to this forum . -
Impressive that he came up with a concept of sticking to the " No correction hops " rule and rode some incredible sections with that restriction . The guy's an incredibly professional rider , a sponsor's dream , getting lots of publicity and and always smiling . Surprising really how few famous US / Canadian riders there are .
