  1. Deeply cool . Nice variation of riding and it's so pleasant to see sections , as opposed to isloated moves . Top notch .
  2. Or indeed symptomatic of a fractured chainstay / BB shell .
  3. Nope , no problem there unless you somehow damage the bottom bracket shell . As for a video of one being ridden ...I intend to finally get some footage of my soopa doopa awesome trials style goin' down . So yeah , some sloppy uninspired hopping will be released soon .
  4. Gonna have to leap to Base's defence here , and agree with Pauloliver ( as usual ) in this being well priced for what you get . I believe the first generation were prone to failure at the seatstay / seattube weld , but only if ridden without a saddle . The newer versions as depicted on Tartybikes seem to be redesigned , with an ovalised toptube replacing what was an octagonal toptube like mine ( 2005 ) has . My first one developed a fracture at this junction , and was promptly replaced by Bikedock , by the one I've now been riding for well over 2 years . At this price you can't go wrong , just discard the supplied bashplate , and you're left with a reasonably light bike that's obedient on the back wheel and spins well . Mine ( link in sig ) only needed a spray 'cause of some scratching . Get one , let us know how you get on .
  5. The important thing is that you DO wear one , beyond that , it's personal prefference . I just bought one of these : ...it's a MeT Dedalo , which fits neatly , and seems to offer good protection . Do try several for size before purchase .
  6. Great photography and riding , especially : ... sick .
  7. At least you were wearing your helmet . Bit of a misleading term , " falling off . " It suggests the rider screws up while the bike obediently remains upright .
  8. A fine starting platform , and one whose componentry can be upgraded to match your progression / prefferences . It'll be nice to be able to focus upon your riding in the early phase without worrying about mechanical failures / worn parts . I'm quite curious how these ride , keep us updated .
  9. Indeed it was , and it's a good lookin' bike that seems to have been well maintained , but around 300 pounds seems a pretty fair resale price . Good luck with the deal .
  10. I'd be more concerned with the integrity of the rim than the hub ( once serviced . ) Good luck with it , Elliot and very informative responses from Pauloliver . Perhaps he or another among you can advise me on what lube / grease to use in my own Hope XC ( rear . ) It's currently running dry and absurdly loudly , but I have a nagging feeling that I should lube it somehow . Teflon spray ? Thick grease ? any tips ?
  11. Kinda struggling with this too , and my inability to do it was limiting my choice of obstacles . I found that nudging with ankle and exaggerating the shoulder turn helped .
  12. I'll be keeping a close watch on this thread , as I itend to strip / respray my frame tonight . Time to get that pure white shiny look again .
  13. Replace the derailleur with a chain tensioner , perhaps a 74 kingz ?
  14. Good looking bike , but the chain could perhaps be shortened somewhat . Doing so would reduce flapping and hey - it even saves a tiny amount of weight .
  15. Indeed , but the previous poster was suggesting ( correctly ) that Hope's QRs are rather , um - ineffective .
  16. Shameless Thread Ressurection SyndromeFor it was prophecised thus upon the first page ...Yeah , I suck .
  17. This is / was deeply ingrained in my perception of the UK's trials scene - talented riding with a relaxed attitude . I still have this on my harddisk from when it was originally posted .
  18. Indeed yes , and proud of it . ( shame the whole country has like 7 riders , but I digress . ) Did you follow German class at school ? If so , and you paid any attention , then you're well on your way . I'm unable to suggest any practical sites or software I'm afraid as I kinda learned as a kid . Any particular phrase / aspect you're interested in ? Do you intend to visit / emigrate ?
  19. Looks like a lotta fun . Gotta love Frankenbikes and I'm always fond of TA26's .
  20. These never dissapoint , and the latest is outstanding . Thanks for making 'em .
  21. ... yeah , guess I'll just pop a little manual . For like , 30 meters ... on my front wheel . Whilst travelling backwards ...Did I mention I'd do so incredibly effortlessly despite being balanced upon the edge of one peg ? ... boy , it's a good thing Endohopper isn't seein' this or he'd be insanely jealous ... :$
  22. OK so I guess Echo make V-Brake boosters , huh ? Learn something everyday . :$ I didn't even know they still made frames with V mounts . I thought they'd gear all their products towards Magura hydraulics , especially with the recent arrival of the " Dengura " their own CNCed rim brake .
