Just got my 2008 sponsoship kit, have used this brake since first production. 1st generation had slight issues with "pistons seizing" as the brake was getting hot and seizing the pistons, never had a problem myself as i usually when i come across the start of something like this i take me pads out and lubricate the pistons. So 2008 stuff with carbon levers and stuff. cant say much more than the carbon lever just adds to lever comfort and feel!!!! 110% !!!! Brilliant. Best trials brake, designed by trials riders FOR trials riders. If you dont own one, YOU SHOULD! iv always used 180/190 (in my koxx days) rotors and iv always taken a few minutes to bed in and after that no problems. Wayne.

maybe everyone is in the pub? its into February and there are no forms around to download or anything????? it doesnt really apply to me, but people going to Koxx days will require licenses??? Is the BIU in this country still going to run??? can a committee member confirm this and point people in the right direction for the forms and stuff Loads of people keep asking me where to get them from and i havent got the slightest.......as i cant find them online either. Wayne.

i was thinking the other day! (ano im getting old and shouldnt be doing too much thinking its bad for your brain!) i wondered IF i could jump back on say an onza woodstock and ride it the same as my current Zenith or Limey2? might be something to do. get a seat going and use it as more of an "old school memory" bike. i think there could be a bike designed and come out and take the market by storm if it used similar characteristics of "old skool" bikes, but similar Geo to the new school stuff people like??? (maybe not 1100 like but something around 1060/1070 with a seat? maybe quite kool) OH and you get somewhere to sit Just going back to the point that Jambo made NEVER EVER (well i try not to until it is a LASt resort) turn around and cheek elders, this is what usually brushes us in with the "chav" type stereo type person. i have so many times had someone walk upto me and you think OH here goes another bollocking? and there kool and interested in what your doing (thats the positive scenario) BUT there is the other where someone totally disagree's with what you do, dont bite back and have a go, always as jambo said, bite the bullet, walk away and if it is someone considerably older than you, apologise, i mean god saying "sorry" is hardly going to ruin your street cred and it makes you look to the old dear a really respectable person who has manners and has taken into consideration that you didnt really think you were doing anything wrong. Wayne Ps sprry for another "long one"

the other way to do it to NOT loose oil is to clamp the lever in a vice obviously wrapped in a rag so it does not mark the master cylinder. then take circlip out so that when you remove it the plunger "pulls out" upwards? so the oil is like bathed then when you remove it and put the new washer and circlip back in it hasnt lost any oil. Wayne.

the crown doesnt look too pleasing. the legs and the dropouts sound strong BUT the crown where the steerer is pressed in doesnt look owt special, they look like a cheap crown off a cheap pair of sus forks. Stick with what is proven, all these new 1 piece steerer design forks. those carbon ones wont be very light either, might be a touch heavier than a pair of control/urban forks. Wayne.
-
:$ usually people dont like reading long posts though. Wayne.
-
with much difficulty. there is a circlip inside the lever (a right lil begger to get to too!!!) you need to pop that out and re-install it, you may need a new brass washer inthere for good measure, as they usually get damaged when they are ripped out. sorry to trip the bad news mate, but usually (if you dont have a decent set of circlip pliers) its best your LBS does it. OH wow cheers ian i think me and porter as snappel has said, we would be entertaining and we dont take things serious. (maybe this is just how we take most things?) but as the topic says i dont see anyone who will fill martyn's role. dont get me wrong, i would love to do something like that and i bet someone like porter would too. but if you name the big people who could, just ask yourself "could they really" as in are they the following: 1) Level headed enough 2) take to people enough 3) willing to have a laugh 4) dont take things too seious 5) do things because it pleases THEM and not others 6) comes up with creative ideas to make something work or happen and most people dont really get past number 1? some big riders are big headed OK this is a good thing for "their" morale, but is it the idea that other riders should take??? take the UK trials scene now? "PERSONALLY" it has alot of good riders, BUT also alot of big headed riders who are stuck up their own arse and it doesnt help themselves or the sport, as the "younger" generation starting think they can get away with that sort of thing. i remember someone saying to me a long time ago "never get too big for your boots" and "always keep both feet on the ground" and i live to this day (hopefully) thinking i have done this, if someone needs a hand, you give them a hand, if someone asks a question you give them a nice/polite answer. the person that said the 1st phrase unfortunatly is no longer living and it is this point i stick to as when i was young this "old guy" was an idol to me. he was a friend of my mother and to this day i will 100% apprecaite the advice he had to offer me when i was younger. ON the other hand there are riders who are totally mis understood and totally under rated and deserve alot more recognition for what they do for "OUR" sport. the other KEY to trials is bikes have no seats (therefore are TRIALS specific (not a bad thing obv)) there is no money to throw in the pot for a rider (well there is but it is VERY hard to obtain) Wayne. PS sorry for the rant and the essay

my rear brake is fine, i got one to try and am just getting annoyed with the black bits on the pistons :@ as on HS33's the black rings are so much easier to adjust. i do think that from the factory they arent bled that "great" but if you just fill the resevoir (a bit of a top up) then im sure it would work fine. the "waterbleed" thing will always be an arguement, just like "chris king Vs hope pro2 trials" youve just got to live with it each to their own opinion. Iv been happy with trying dengura's i feel that if your willing NOT to use what is supposed to be in the brake then whats the point buying them in the 1st place but thats only my opinion. Like shimano and magura disc brakes use mineral and Hope use dot4???? why do people not use the oil vice versa in those brakes???? because dot4 F**Ks seals in mineral brakes and mineral fluid knacks dot4 seals. its the same kind of thing. notice how water bleeds you feel you can "pull the lever harder" well thats probably because the water is thinner and you can compress it even further than oil???? hence why you use oil. Wayne.

it may have something to do with the BB area being so stiff the next possible place for the frame to crack/fracture is the chainstay. i remember/hopefully others will too, alot of frames cracked around the seat tube???? if they didnt break there, they usually broke somewhere along the chainstay??? Maybe this is a weak point for the material, and driveside is where all the force goes through the chain and down to the rear wheel. At the end of the day people shouldnt be suprised, it was only a matter of time before something deng started breaking, but with the price of alot of he deng stuff people could/can afford to change their frames when they want that they dont get into the state of "battered" or "abused". NOTHING is indestructable! Everything WILL break, its a matter and a fact of life. (unfortunatly) Wayne.

middleburn cranks with the old skool "dual" bash then a Kore stem and azonic DW bars Sram X9 short cage rear mech and then in becomes an Akrigg Factory Replica OH dont forget the Dual HS33's gotta be old skool 1's though. pre 2005. Hope Ti-Glide hubs with mavic D521 rims (yes!!! front and back) Wayne. PS nice ride!

excuse my stupidity?!?!?!?!?! im guessing as i havent seen Goddard or Wheeler in ages, but is Goddards the Inspired? and Wheelers the LE? or other way round. Both bikes look pretty sweet good to see Wheeler on a bigger wheeled bike. Wayne.

personally id have just taken it off and sent it back. Tensiles warranty scheme is probably one of the best in the UK trials market, if you break it, they will more than likely replace it. Its a protected brand and has some good product under the tensile brand name, yes ok people have problems with the cranks, but as with any other product, what about deng stuff? try-all stuff? no matter what you design test or buy YOU WILL break things, its a fact of life unfortunatly. products nower days do have the best type of "R&D" possible with good CNC' programs and also computer software that can tell you weak points and strong points and also places where you can lighten/strneghten etc Wayne. God not to mention how much stuff i "used" ot break, id have a post at least 10 pages along with my own personal posts in. In the last 2/3 years i have hardly broke anything.

4.55 metres is some where around the 14/15ft mark. im sure that is bigger than a double decker bus cheers for the re-post. iv never seen it in my life. Wayne.

it will be fun to see how they would set a section out at the worlds??? as 20" and 26" USUALLY are totally seperate, 20" being big and "hoppy" move and 26" being very rolly and pedally type moves. personally a last ditch effort to try make things work, instead its becoming a jargon for people to ride. mixing 20" and 26" is just a nightmare. its like comparing a mini cooper S and an old mini from 1989 bloody 1.0 litre job. its pointless. Wayne.

id say have a word wi si and poss get a train over to see him??? if your in surrey? si is somehwere near Bristol. im sure he would be more than happy to see you? as seeing and feeling someones injury is much better (no rudeness meant!) My injury has been very problematic since a "drinking" injury 3 Christmas's ago, when i fell off a sign 10ft up, i climbed up, was stood on the top of it outside the fire station and just lost my balance and fell, luckily landed on my feet, pretty flat footed but nakerd my ligaments, and ever since i have gone over on my ankle quite easily a few times. After Si had spoken to me all these 2/3 years ago he gave me advice, i chose NOT to listen, i then nakerd my ankle before xmas and Si came to see me and advised me on what to do, how to do it etc, 3 weeks ago i went down to see him, he removed the pot and did a bit of physio on it, advised what to do and after my ride today im very happy with my progression of my injury. All thanks to Si sound bloke, offers good free advice and is very good on price in looking after us trials riders. Wayne.

im in the same boat as you mate. the key to any come back form injury is persistance! keep going for it! as the old saying goes, no pain no gain. most of the time the pain is temporary as you use it more in then way it is going to be used your body gets used to it. im having real difficulties with my left foot, fractured ankle in pot for 6 weeks, come out couldnt walk!!!! then tried to ride bike couldnt so didnt for a further week. THEN when i could ride it had "sharp" pains in the "floor" of my foot where i was putting all the pressure through the foot. personally i would give Si a call the Physio on here ask him for some pointers and he will be able to offer the best advice possible his number is 07830151250 i am still incurring aches and pains but si told me it was the nerve receptors that arent used to the impact and pressure i am putting on my foot, so i just go out and have to bite my tongue a bit, i know from previous injuries it just doesnt come back that easy, you have to bide your time and you will get there in the end Wayne.

i was going to try find something out for Jack Carthy as he needs a BIU licence and stuff to go to koxx days and compete. BikeTrialUK is all sorted, venues and dates were sorted last year i think it was December they had a meeting. it would be helpful if anyone knows anyone on the committee of the UK Bike Trial committee to maybe let people know what is going on and such forth. usually everything is sorted before Feb and you have venues dates and everything confirmed in January. Wayne.

Nothings ever a fair way if you didnt have legs then i would agree it would be near on impossible! take advantage of having legs and been able to ride come along and have some fun. Wayne. Il prop a list together tonight nwhen i get a list on the go.....

Can we start having people put there names down for 100% sure? i just want to make sure we get the numbers correct. would be kool for as many people as possible to turn up. Please put your full name including your mates who you maybe bringing with you and we'll start a list. The list of "top euro" riders will be gathering shape so please please show your support for this cause for cancer research and to a young lad who has been hit by the illness. I think ben is doing fine and will hopefully attend the event so it would be great for people to see and just say "Hi" to him, he would really appreciate that. Regards Wayne.
