well you know he gets the bags of style from me taught him all i know,,,, as im getting too old for it, i gave jack my skills. on a serious note, iv trained with jack and helped him along the last couple of years and i have to say, he is very inspirational TO ME! at the best of times. he maybe cocky "around people hes used to" but alot of the time hes the down to earth and stylish jack carthy you see in that vid, me and ross have sorted him out a few times lol. Hopefully he will keep the vids coming, and possibly also become world champion this year. No pun intended, but jacks dad is called "mick" i thought someone was making a joke Wayne.

very small squad, i remember the years back in 05/06/07 you struggled to get places............. maybe more advertisement of it wouldnt have gone a miss???? Jack Carthy will be on that list, probably the UK's BIGGEST chance of very good sucess along with the boys in the yellow route. good luck to all who are going. Wayne.

il be there hopefully there will be quite a good turn out. there usually is for this venue, but this particular event also. hope to see anyone/everyone there. Wayne.

onzaboymark i have to agree, a bike that looks much more like a £400.00+ but also has a frame that would retail (like a pro) at £180.00 value for money, i think keeping the prices low especially with the raw materials problem that is going on in the world is nothing much more than positive for onza. Good JOB Mike, Joe, Chris and Co. Wayne.

the thing is, no matter how current upto date that last photo is, it still looks like it was taken years ago, dont know why, it just reminds me of a pose like Ot Pi and such forth would do all them moons ago, like back in 1999, ay the days eh. let me know if your off to the race track peacock, il probs come for a watch, Neils skills up at the BMX track are 2nd nature he's a real inspiration, to me especially cus i cant jump/wont jump!!!! Wayne.

in my view: a rider should only ever retire due to injury or bike problems. i didnt understand the whole selection process but i do agree with Matt Burrows, mindless comments put all the hard work and effort (that others have done down on the floor) im suprised that some people are actually still organising comps in this country, the amount of shit they get for it, maybe this is why i have lost a VAST amount of interest in being bothered, and turning upto comps, i get more out of going out and having fun, and spending my time on an internet forum where everyone is wittering and whinging about selection process's etc. at the end of the day the selection process and procedure was probably available to see/checkout somewhere on the internet, (i didnt look because i was not bothered about going, but i did observe at both these events) would have liked to have ridden dont get me wrong, but i didnt plan on going to Italy. so i saw no point. i thought id help out instead. Maybe E-mail roger wilbraham if you have any problems or maybe any comments you wish to forward on??? including the whole "selection thing is bullshit" i could remember if i had done this last year i would have probably found myself on the receiving end of a further 12 month or 24 month BAN! Wayne.

nice pics old mate wish i had of gone to that now, even just to watch and have a play. maybe i will have to look at going next year if something like that happens. catch up with you soon mate when your back from Belgium. Wayne.

i agree fred, i dont intend to aim my concerns at the "organisers" its more at the riders, and them cheating around lines that some riders will look at for a "straight line" route. maybe its just me been old, but hey, the organisation and the sections were good, Brian Wrights section was good, and such forth, the section mick was observing was good, a lot of hopping etc, but when i spoke to ben, and asked the routes he took, he took majority of what i took. id just like to see a few sections from like the worlds in 2005. Wayne.................

i want to put something forward............... i will speak to you tonight about it John. i agree it is hard at blackpool, BUT maybe some "simple" tape here and there we could make it a bit better. but someone going 7 or 8ft around or over something to short cut something???? you cant do it at a world round???? thats all i was pissed at. OH and me dislocated finger haha. id really like to be part of the marking out of shipley glen, as it is local to me and know quite alot about it (and possibly addingham) i could possibly get Chris Akrigg to ride also, as when i was speaking with him yesterday we had similar ideas about sections and such forth. make trials more fun and less cheatable. Scores of less than 15 i personally feel the trials are on the easy side. iv looked back at scores from 2005 in the year which i won red route, and even on yellow the scores are not on less than 15/20 marks. Less hopping, more riding its a bike with 2 wheels for a reason, it would be a unicycle or a pogo stick otherwise..... Wayne.

JP eh. what a laugh. was a bit pi$$ed off, blackpool is one of them places, that just needs more "rolly" and more "direct" lines at the rocks, i felt a bit disheartened that riders were using lines that were cheating around or over something that was "making the section" more interesting. was pretty angry on section 3, this was due to my rear braking finger causing me much grief, as it has dislocated on friday and wasnt feeling too great, a bit painful but still got through the day. more tape is needed next time, make trials direct, as opposed to allowing riders to manouvre around or above flags that are intended for a direct line up/over or through something. (maybe its just my old age having a moan, but i just feel trials is loosing its "do or die" atmosphere) Wayne.

anyone fancying it? theres a competition there this coming saturday and sunday. Me and Chris Walker will probably be there from around 11/11.30 onwards, parking in the car park opposite. You'll probably see the van parked in the car park. everyone and anyone welcome, it seems like the weather will be good for it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=1938 Wayne.

haha. that sounds so funny. who were the other top 5 riders scott??? sounds like a good trip out. would have loved to have gone to china, 1 of the places that is a must to go to before you die kinda thing. Wayne.

dont worry, its like alot of things people will always judge things on what they "think" they want to know or what "they think to be true" at the end of the day, its each to their own, you get what you given, or you ride what you please, this usually can be a deciding factor for riders choosing to be fussy with sponsorship or ride what there offered. i know through my last 3/4 years of "real" sponsorship that getting bikes for FREE or at super good prices, its all about been a good person and able to talk to people (anyone and everyone) its not about selling your product to trials riders, sometimes it is more "non" trials orientated. look at Ashton, Akrigg etc, Diamond back and Mongoose?? their promotional work and demo's etc applies to 99% of the general public as opposed to 10% of a dedicated sport (trials) Wayne.

its going to be wednesday or thursday. il put something up in rides/locations. Wayne.

just be careful how you phrase things. what IF? Deng copied Yao Zhi's designs? think outside the circle. I spent sometime with Yao at the worlds last year in Japan, and was talking to him through an interpreter, and his words were that he couldnt design a frame without deng copying it within a week or so of production, then he would release it quicker as he had more money to do so, Yao wants to test products and geometries before he releases them. This was back in Japan 2007. Wayne.

i thort i had read some where last year when i was reading through the rules and regulations about this. as i had to find the rule about the sport and disrepute............... Wayne.

i think what people are trying to say is: if you are in charge of the BIU in your designated countries you are probably able to adjust and modify the rules according, as long as when attending a world bike trial championship event you abide to the rules that are stated in the BIU handbook. i think it probably has something to do with the ACU etc, that the rules maybe published in there, hence why they wont/cant change them???? Just think of the options and the strength of british trials if we could just bin the pants rules, bike trial is an independant sport and should be run and adhered to by the people who attend (the competitiors) therefore it would be best to make rules that suit the riders in the designated country, we want more people at trials? therefore more people will attend without the silly rules, and for 2 or 3 comps in a year (WBC World Biketrial Championships) im sure for those 2 or 3 events that people will understand the rules that we miss out. its all about getting numbers????and riders to have fun and enjoy comps, myself, like ben travis, i do it more for the pleasure and to keep me fit, i dont care weather i win or come last, as long as i enjoy myself, i dont give a monkeys. Wayne.

^^ ^^ ^^ ok i agree with your point. "your" the real BIU EBU in this country. BUT personally IMO your not pushing the sport forward, your letting it "tick" over, your organisation seemed a little dissapointing, your venues are the same, year in year out. i dont want to add critisism or a negative on this, but look at the venues the UK NATIONALS have got???? Blackpool, Addingham, Fort William, Shipley glen!!!! Brimham rocks??? ok these venues are all in the north. BUT if you combined the 2 series or made that there is more competitions (etc etc) but people got out of their head "they own BIU/EBU" in the UK then trials would be run much freerer, i was banned last year for making an opinion known, i wouldnt wear a shirt in Czech because i felt that the organisation and the way people went about it was abysmal. The energy that the national championships have are so much great, take away the red and yellow route, there are more riders in the lower classes than at the BIU/EBU trial on sunday???? it tells you its won story, just wait till blackpool and addingham etc, the nationals will turn around at LEAST 10 to 20 riders in the age category of 6 and 10 (if not many more!!!) Just my opinion, but id like other members of the forum to see that, the only way to progress is to promote, i dont see any promotion on behalf of the BIU/EBU committee, i feel IMO that they run the trials for their own EGO. i know alot of work goes in, i work as a committee member for tyke trial and help out with bits and bobs, attaining venues and such forth....its like matt burrows has said, its the rift thats causing the main issue, but the wild rule changes shows the biu may have taken a turn for the worst???? or is the BIU dying off??? Wayne

i can make him smile bessell it doesnt take much....(sometimes) usually a joke in and around his dad works well. did you manage to get any of the pictures from the section fred was doing??? when i bunnyhopped it to back/bash etc? mint pics as always dude, shame you had to retire, but your hand did look pretty swollen @ Mick Scrivens section. Wayne.

i managed to sneak her back to my room................. have you seen the video JP? Wayne ps JOKING....

would be nice to have an entry list, as i said to jack carthy last week, whats the point in travelling hundreds of miles to compete against yourself................ its a pointless trip and a pointless excercise. same for Tommy oliver, if theres no1 in his class he might as well come upto yorkshire and stay with me for a weekend. Wayne.
