Thing is though, for the price, its a pretty good shell. I'll replace the sill and a-panel genuine rover panels and then it'll be pretty solid for a fair few years. :'(

What diameter wires do you have to run 1000 amps down? I'm tempted by this one, need to buy a compressor soon though if i want to do a decent job of the spraying. :'(

I've just come back from looking at a beige 1985 City-E: Its got a beige body, a hand painted roof (white) and a hand painted boot-lid (black) Lovely! So needless to say its going to need a respray. The other problems i found include: Filler in A-Panel (the nearside is ok): Rust hole in OS sill: Surface rust on boot-floor: Surface rust around OS rear light: And a somewhat non-standard engine-bay: The good parts include; recently replaced front brake disks and rear brake shoes, replaced wing (good job), MOT until august, nice half-leather interior, 22000 miles (genuine i think, has MOTs to prove), centre speedo, good tyres. The guy wants £395 for it but i think this is a bit much (especially seeing as it has no tax so i can't test-drive it). How much do you think i should be thinking of paying? Edit: The offside door also needs re-skinning.

I just read my email in IE, its not that much hassle!

My offer from Imperial was three As, but then i didn't go to their interview "

Walk up to her and say "Ten ton polar bear" She'll be like "What the f**k" Then you go "Always breaks the ice" Needless to say I don't have much luck with the ladies :)"

You'll be wanting a pentium with HT for the sort of stuff you're doing. Plenty of RAM (at least 1gb) probably go for Crucial for a good balance between quality and price.

To be fair to the guy there was no way he could have seen me from up in his cab, but he still should have known that i was in his blind spot. Even if i had indicated (which i obviously didnt) he would still be in the wrong. Thing is i'd been doing 65 in the inside lane since the junction before, which was where i came onto the A27. Such a pain in the arse :P
-
Almost certainly so, and the insurance company are being gay so i'm going to have to hire a trailer to go and fetch it (its costing £12 a day at the recovery yard) :P
-
Yeah, that quote was from the officer who talked to the Lorry driver so that's probably what he's saying. Luckily i have a witness who will be able to say that i didnt indicate etc. Twas fooking scary to be honest! :-
-
Yay, i'm famous! Shame that they got the details a bit wrong (i'm 18 and didnt even consider taking the slip road off the A27) :-

Get a lock on the door? :-

Yeah, although i cleaned my carb with white spirit and its fine. Haynes reccomends that you use clean petrol to clean carbs (makes sense :P) Basically your best bet is to have flick through the Haynes and find out how to set your idle speed. Once that's correct you'll know if you need to adjust the mixture or not. :)
-
I don't know anything about carbs except for mini ones, but i'll try and help anyway. First off, do you have a rev-counter? If so, what rpm does it read at idle? Basically you're right when you say that you're running too lean (not enough petrol in the mixture) due to the fancy air filter and induction kit. To rectify this on a mini you would get a new carb needle (which lets more fuel through) but i don't know enough about your engine to tell you what to do about it. Might be best to phone your local renault garage and see what they say. If you don't fancy getting the garage to do it then go to Halfords and pick up the haynes manula for your car. It will explain how to set the idle speed and the fuel air mix which will allow you to tune the carb to allow more fuel in. Report back... <_<"

They will work for both Mac and PC, but i'm pretty sure that you have to have them configured for one or the other, so you wouldnt be able to put music on it for her. Ask on Ipod Lounge for a definitive answer!

Gas-less mig works out more expensive in the long run as the wire is more expensive. My welding is getting better, but I can do nice looking ones on box like that. Now try welding in a repair patch upside down inside a wheelarch :turned:
-
If i were you'd i'd get a mig, they're so much more controlled and easier to use. My friend got his from "MIG, TIG and ARC" in portsmouth for a very reasonable price (i think it was around £150 with a starter kit of mask, gloves etc.) :turned:

Now with GB 12x5 Alloys B) I might finally be able to drive it tomorrow!

Yeah, i would definately buy and wear one. Liss' idea (how do i write that?!) sounds pretty good to me, pink would be a little un-subtle. (Y)

I bought the Alpine one in the end and it was working fine with the remote-in connected to +12v from the battery. I decided to get a switch so that i could turn it on and off (stop wasting the battery) It had three connections so i connected one to earth, one to +12v and the other to the remote-in on the amp. Connected the -ve terminal of my battery, ooooh, pretty smoke! Basically fried all the wires going to the switch, and now the amp wont work at all. The fuse in the amp and in the +12v line didn't blow. Any ideas? Will halfords take it back if i've got the box and reciept? Cheers, Chris

I'm looking for an amp for my mini. It has a set of Alpine 120W (max) components on a speaker board under the rear seat and will have a pair of 90w (max) Kenwood 10cm speakers in the dash in the near future. I'm planning on running the amp using a 3.5mm jack to RCA lead plugged into my Ipod Mini. Sometime in the future i may buy a sub, but for the moment it only has to power the components. I've been looking at this £50 Mutant One And this £100 Alpine one Obviously the Alpine one would be better but is it really worth the extra £50? I'm only really into having the music so that i can listen to it ok (not too bothered about quality) Finally how does the amp connect to the battery, am i best to buy a wiring kit and then use my 3.5mm to RCA lead? Cheers
