north wales. liverpool???
-
well i got some new tyres today so decided instead of fighting with the sunn rim i'd slap the tyres on my spare wheels (the mono's). i've been out riding and although i can notice the difference in pick up between the hope and the acs claw i had its not changed my riding, i just find the bite. so thank you everyone for your input but in the end it was the good old try it and see method that made the descision (sp?). now final question for you all, when i get new cranks a 16T would allow me to use a lower gear on the cassette and get a better chain line but is there any disadvantage to using a 16T instead of an 18T screw on cog??? cheers tom

My Questions To The Poeple Of Trials Forum
spunkey_monkey_boy replied to mad_gavo's topic in Trials Chat
the cho bash will fit however if your not in a hurry there will be lexan FFW bashes available in the UK soon... -
i'm not buying a new hub, i've already got a mono... 22-18 is way too hard for natty i've found, obviously it depends what sort of natural your riding but i'm finding it too hard...
-
at the mo i'm running 22-18 which is waaay too hard for natty so i'm s=thinking of stepping down to 18-16 or 16-14. i'm now thinking about drilling the ass off my sunn rim and running a fixed cog on the revolver. the hub might thread itself and the rim might die but i've got the hope/mavic wheel spare atm anyways. i think that's probably going to be the cheapest way to lose weight and i'll see how it goes... otherwise it'll be a fixed cog oop front and the hope on the rear. oh descisions descisions :(
-
i'd like to be able to still use it afterwards!!!
-
i think its the rear wheel and frame thats doing it. i'm gonna change the crank set up and rear wheel and see how things feel :) oh yeah and i think i'm gonna go FFW using my revolver hub with a fixed cog :( (if i can get the claw off!!!)
-
i'll be getting a lexan bash pretty soon :(
-
leeson clear 660 frame (yes i know its heavy but i love it) pashlet forks crappy headset (to be replaced) zoo bar and stem front hope ti on f519 (about to change to planet x on koxx rim) front panracer fire xc pro front avid SD7 and lever FSA afterburner cranks with 22t ring and r,ring (soon to be changed to echo's) un52 bb welgo v12 copies rear dmr revelover with acs claw on sun fat mamoth (to be changed) mitchelin comp 24 tyre rear maggie with goodridge hose there we have it, i'm not going to go so light weight i can't trust my parts but i wana shed some weight...
-
thats possibly the coolest thing i've ever seen!!!
-
i sold it :) anyway atm i have a revolver hub with a claw on the back and a big ring on the front but i'm buying new cranks to save weight and get a bit more clearance on the front. i can either put a claw on there and build a new rear wheel or i could put a fixed cog on there and get a new rear rim. the mono i have hasn't been used for trials but i've used other ones before and never had any trouble with them at all. to be honest its the weight that i'm trying to shave off because my bikes real heavy and i'm riding more natty now. i'm not going to buy a profile or king because there is absiloutely no need but if i were running front freewheel i would consider an ENO because my understanding is claws dont last as long on the front as they do on the rear? the engagement i have with the claw is more than enough and the mono although a bit less isn't much less (21?) so thats not a problem. hmm dilema because i really dont know which way to go. if i re build the hope wheel then i dont have a matching pair of wheels to sell anymore. if i build a new wheel it'll cost more and i'll have to get the hub welded up. i'm gonna go check out the weights and try and let that aid my descision... keep the comments coming :(
-
mmmm total agreement, i'm gonna have to go get myself a bit more natural...
-
right we'll be at pier head at 1pm... see y'all there
-
i've been told cham is shit for trials too... if your going out there go freeriding :(
-
top sales pitch from the man selling a pile of hope hubs... i assume you meant fixed rear and FFW...
-
so what to do? its time for a new crankset and i'm getting echo cranks but do i go front frewheel and get an old shimano hub to weld up or do i run a fixed cog and use my rear hope mono hub? oh yeah its on a stock and also do you think stepping down from 175's to 170's will change the handling/feel of the bike much?
-
used to be street but i'm shit bored of the street round here and have just been bitten by the natural bug...
