  1. i had one a couple of years ago but i sat on it and it broke fancy one really...for walking to college and that, might be nice to have a bit of music people tell me decent headphones are important....and these things don't seem to come with decent headphones? decent headphones are going to cost extra, so should I buy a cheapish player and nice headphones, or will i not notice and just buy a swish player with its shitty ones...? don't want to spend too much (IE: ipod)...but i do like shiny things. I've got my eye on the iriver l-player because it looks so damn pretty....but it's ~£60 for a 4gb player...and i did sit on the last one. can anyone recommend a decent one for ~£60...or combination of player + phones...? cheers! adam
  2. yeah...actually i am..! but not on the aol browser..i'm on firefox..?
  3. does anyone else find that http://www.trialsdisplay.co.uk/ doesn't exist...?
  4. just go to a branch a say you can't afford it...simple as...they can be understanding
  5. i don't think that's an m6 bolt...it needs to be bigger...and i don't think that started off as a hollow bolt! you really should drill the hole to the suit the tap or you just put more wear and tear on and increase the risk of breaking the tap off in the hole.. adam
  6. oooo mwwwaaate...maybe? peter backgren rocks ?
  7. looks pretty awesome chaps.... as above though- gravel suuuuucks! concrete is way way nicer probably not really thought it through myself though... adam
  8. probably a bit like you...i thought there'd be a few more people riding wise in london! as it happens...there's me and chai (hopefully) at imperial college (live in bayswater/fulham) who are probably nearest to you...and no other trials riding students i've found! actually...scottish andy has just started at lsbu but lives in walthamstow...and there's south african martin who works liverpool st way (also lives in walthamstow, "ace o spades" on here).. but they're pretty decent chaps and usually up for a spin in the centre of town.. i don't start back for another week but definitely should meet up for a ride- acton isn't far really! oh..one more- theres a couple more people towards kingston/richmond..and of course...its pretty easy to get places on the train (albeit bloody pricey!) adam
  9. if you chavs get it together...i may appear
  10. pretty sure they expand once they're in...hence the special tool get on google and look at inserts...like you say- they'res all sorts (but not m6-m5 as far as i know..too thin) adam
  11. m6 thread/tap is not the same as the tap required for an m5 helicoil insert... taken me ages to find the numbers! an m5 helicoil needs a 13/64" (just under 5mm) hole and then tapping with a 10-24 thread... whereas an m6 thread is a 5mm hole and an m6x1 thread... IE: an m5 x0.8 helicoil (what you want) won't fit in the m6x1 thread.. just use a bigger bolt! not worth all this hassle..
  12. you can't use a standard m5 helicoil now that you've tapped it to m6 thread- that is slightly too large for the coil (13/64")... just keep it m6 unless you really really need it done, in which case i think you'll need a specialist insert (EG: m8-m5?) adam
  13. phwoar....that's a bit different warnold..! it certainly does hook/tap/wheelswap well as the mighty staples proved bloody ages ago nice.
  14. ok...well of course there's extreme cases where the frame is so flexy the brake is just terrible...get a booster... but, as i was saying in the other thread, i think flex helps bite because as the brake is applied the seatstays twist outwards (the brake mount is at the top of the tube), and this means that the pad is being "toe-d" in forwards giving a biting action- very much like the way the play in a v-brake makes them lock up something awesome when riding backwards... adam
  15. previous topic.. get onto page 2 of that and there's a few ideas floating about...
  16. you won't get anywhere without a guide...! try nathan above...
  17. 'fraid you've missed the fun james....the others are working, and i'm leaving swindon tomorrow while i'm here- thanks to all the swindonists-ben, adam, nathan, gilly, oli and laurence. Feels really weird to be going, and the summer has gone seriously quick..but i've really enjoyed myself and the ridings been a big part... cheers adam
