  1. TFC injuries are pretty common in impact sports, just don't ride at all and stick to physio and good diet/ no alcohol, from what I have heard from others it will heal. Im sure if you look around on mtb forums you'll find people who have had this. Healing is down to genetics as well, some people have a gene that allows them to heal faster so the time is unpredictable. Hope you heal up mate, stay positive!
  2. Yeah its bullshit, pro athletes don't use it, and if they do they just use it to explain their rapid recoveries, when its usually PED's like GH that they are on. Physio works well if you have discipline, good diet works and the ultrasound physio's use is legit too. Other than that its pretty much hormones and drugs, because they work with the bodies natural healing processes. Laser and light therapy does work for some applications, certain wavelengths energise metabolic reactions in cells, but it can't penetrate deep enough to heal anything other than skin generally. Massages are just good for scar tissue, in muscle and connective tissue, but they are an accessory to the healing process like physiotherapy and are useless on their own. I'm guessing you have already healed and now are just trying to make it stronger ?
  3. yes man, this may also be a good addition, lol at the tape: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mobile-Phone-Camera-Bracket-holder-tripod-Stand-Clip-Mount-for-iPhone-6-6-Plus-/181776431204?hash=item2a52b83864:g:R5sAAOSw4UtWRyRr

    Winter clothes

I'm trying to find some winter clothes suitable for riding. As it has got colder I have to wear jeans more often but I can't go a big in them. I was wondering if any one had any suggestions for warm jog/track pants that can stand up to wind rain etc... but are light enough to ride in. Also coats/jackets that are flexible, I use a light plastic coat but I tend to tear through them in the arm pit and they hinder my tuck position getting real tight over my lats. Any suggestions ? cheers lads
  5. Ah I see, normal cycling locks your legs into one highly repetitive plane of motion, the legs and hips are made to work at many angles. So it is quite common to get muscle imbalances, after you are fixed up try to incorporate some more varied exercise, like running that involves moving sideways and changing direction a lot, football, cross country running or boot camp style training should be suitable. Your physio may find that your knee problem originates from a hip problem, that would put one side of your quad in a dominant position. If your vastus medialis is under developed, that usually means that when you squat you have a tendency to push outward with your legs. This would mean your have to squeeze (adduct) your hips more in your squatting and cycling and stuff. But it is best to get a physio to check you, because making assumption can screw you over more. good luck dude!
  6. thats a pretty standard injury mate, your patella isn't tracking properly, the medial and lateral heads of the quadriceps need to pull equally to keep the patella running in its groove. There's loads of treatments available online, just see your doctor and tell him it is superbad and get a physiotherapist, otherwise he may just fob you off with ibuprofen which won't fix it. Also it is usually about 6 weeks wait on NHS so you may want to get one private session asap to get the exercises early while you wait, it would normally be around £35 and in terms of health and life it is well worth it. If you ride it while damaged you can create a permanent condition where the patella continuously weakens. Just take a break until you fix it and it'll be better than ever I promise.
  7. global shipping stuff usually has a tracking number in my ebay with the status. It could be that he missed a delivery attempt and the card got lost or something. Either of you are able to check the tracking.
  8. Ive got a small leak in one of my brakes, it is water bled. I'm thinking I need to put a racing line piston in the lever, but can the slaves go bad as well or are they usually okay ?
  9. foot position does feel weird and inconsistent at first but it does get better over time, its just something u learn like everything else. As for shoes, people ride in all sort, ogre said the main popular ones. But really it doesn't make that much difference unless you have a specific needs: 510s and skate shoes are good for protecting the foot from knocks, crosstraining shoes like the adidas terrex are popular because of the grip they provide in natural / competiton stuff and cushioning is useful is you have to bail from high stuff. A few people use lightweight trainers like for running and free running they are super comfortable and well cushioned but not very grippy. Also pedals make a difference, cages or platforms. If you find you have problems with one try the other.
  10. this is a good frame from back in the day, lots of people love the montys, but it depends on how you want to ride, a newer onza may be easier to ride to and progress on for modern style. Also youll normally get a much better deal on here than on ebay, stuff is stupid price on there. Post an ad in the wanted section

    JamesB at age 14?

seriously impressive, some of that stuff was massive.
  12. yes yes yes awesome video dude!!!!
  13. just turn it and watch the pads they should move in and out a tiny bit, also squeezing the lever after adjusting it see if it feels different. Sometimes tpas just get stuck and don't turn at all. the tpa just adjusts the pads position, you can just move the slaves in the clamps too. so if it is spongy, its not just the tpas fault. maybe try a water bleed?
  14. What is the problem is it that it is spongy or it doesn't hold ? To elaborate: If you go out riding and when you press the lever it is hard but the wheel slips, it is a pad/rim problem. You'll need a grind, and if you have been riding in the rain you need pads that work well when wet. If the lever is spongy and goes all the way in even though the pads made contact it is a bleed problem. Maguras are pretty hard when bled properly (minus the flex in the frame). The other issue is your pads may be setup too far away from the rim and are barely making contact, so move them closer, they should be about the thickness of a 1p coin away. If you wheel is bent this will be hard to do. Get a spoke key. Look for leaks, and check where tpa is, it should have been wound all the way out for bleeding. Take some pics of the setup if you still have trouble.
  15. Really good to see how to videos in english, so rare to see new ones.

    New Hashtagg

Yeah i think that adding any sort of innovation helps to justify the pricetag. I thought the raijin looked a bit plain, but i guess it was good.
  17. It is possible but you have to understand the style. Modern competiton trials is't really possible on a mtb for a normal person. However if you just want to get better and mtb style trials it is. If you look up ryan leech he was very popular back in the day and rode north shore style, which is very technical MTB and used trials techniques. If you watch modern trials they spend a lot of time on the back or front wheel but old mtb trials was more two wheeled rolling stuff. Chris Akrigg does a lot of this stuff now too. You will be able to learn it as long as you don't get side tracked trying to learn modern competition style. Ryan leech did a tutorial series on trials which would be best to watch because it is on an mtb, although it was setup for that style of riding. I think some people on here ride like that, sort of technical xc ? I think in the moto world it is called hard enduro. this is the tutorial series to find:: here are some random vids:

Not sure if this has been posted already but saw this on tribal. Also is the name actually open space, because that just does not make sense as a frame name.
  19. Is anyone else having trouble replying to messages on the mobile site? It works when I am on the pc in mobile mode, but on the phone when i press "Reply to this conversation" nothing happens, might be my phone though (Android/Firefox).
  20. Yeah the Avid bb7 is a cable disc brake. Best thing to do is just try it for a few weeks, see how it goes. Alot of it is personal preference. Its the same with the height issue, some taller riders like mods, but yes generally a taller rider would like a bit more room but that doesn't necessarily mean a stock. Other parts of the geometry make a difference mainly the 'reach' of the frame and bottom bracket height makes a big difference. But you can change it a bit with your bar height/ stem / bar angle. Just ride it and get back in the flow, once you are back on the ball you'll know if it is right for you. Also if you are looking for local riders post a new thread, there is also probably a facebook group for your area. Maybe ask on here too: https://www.facebook.com/groups/155157967991673/?fref=nf
