I guess in theory my steel axle ones would bend first?
-
lol I do TRY to ride smooth. But once and I while I just go full sack of bricks. There are plenty of riders of 200 lbs though.

I know this is a super opinionated question. In the past I had some echo flats with Ti axles I took off after two years. Now I am running on three years with steel axle echo flat pedals and am starting to wonder when they will break. Somehow I don't like the idea of what a snapped axle could do to my legs. How long do you want before retiring pedals? (or other parts for that matter, my spare parts bin has a handful of bits I took off before breaking)

The one I was looking at buying comes with a BB70. That is a bit helpful thanks! Thanks for the opinion! I do drops I consider big (8'), but I know that's not really huge compared to what you're doing lol. I'll look into the SRAM cranks, thanks for the info!

I'm setting up a trials bike without trials specific cranks for the first time since power pro cranks on my brisa, and honestly haven't really been paying attention to the MTB tech scene since it changes every 3.2 minutes. Trading a frame for a rear hope hub for this setup. Can anyone explain the different between Saint, SLX, and Zee cranks? Obviously Zee is budget friendly, but is there much of a difference? SLX is lighter, but not as strong? I found a good deal on some SLX cranks with bottom bracket in a 22/32/40 combo, compatible with a 104 bcd bashring I have and was thinking of giving that a go.

Maxxis has a new Downhill tire for junior downhill bikes that is almost the exact same as the old 24" holy roller. The Maxxis Minion DHF 3C 24" . Thick sidewall, butyl insert, and soft compound. Been riding it for awhile and it's not light, but reliable.

While trials may or may not have died down a bit in the last 10-15 years, I really think facebook / instagram have taken away from the presence on the forum. Most people (including myself) are face book friends or instagram followers with all sorts of trials riders, removing the "need" to come here. There are some pro's and cons to a lot of it.

I would get the Red one unless the silver one is drastically cheaper.

Ha, just figured out who this is! Looking forward to seeing it in action

I don't think I comprehend what I just saw...

So poking around the web I noticed a few things. A new Echo SL Disc brake A new "Czar" Disc brake A new 2017 Echo SL Rim brake. So as far as the rim brake goes, is there anything different with the new one besides the lever blade? (It does look more comfortable) For the Echo SL Disc and Czar disc brake. Anybody know anything about them? More power than the TR? Just curious. I had good luck with the Echo TR rim and Disc brakes before. I'm not sure how much more abuse my MT7's can take, and I'll take cheap and reliable anyday over expensive and unreliable.

There are a couple Canadians doing summer cirques including James. But hey, James is one guy who should get paid to ride.

Yes they are.

I successfully converted my rear wheel on my 26" pure trials bike this weekend. Echo double wall 47mm rim For kicks I used a conti trial queen. I choose this tire because I loved the way it felt but was getting constant pinch flats. I used to have to run it at 34psi to avoid pinches. In my test I started at 29psi and dropped pressure a few times. Running just above 22 psi, which would've resulted in a pinch in a few minutes, no leaks or anything I did not use the foam strip, i really don't think it is necessary. One note for rim brakes. A bit of sealant got in my rims when sealing. It pretty much dries into wax and the brakes were not a fan. It took a few minutes of dragging the brakes to get this better, but my brakes were still not at 100%. Next time I will be more careful, grind first, and find a way to clean the rims up proper. I rode some proper sharp corner urban, but unfortunately I don't have any proper natural near me.

Really liked this one. I have liked a lot of Yohan's recent footage, but this one was the first of Tom's I've enjoyed. The first few times I saw footplants in trials I really didn't like it. but as people have started to get them more fluid I have really come to enjoy it. Feet on the pedals is one of those constraints of riding most people never break, and I tend to enjoy things that break out of the mold.

That was really fun to watch! Creative and very Canadian feeling

Riding natty will totally make you a better, smoother rider. Be creative, have fun. That spot looks awesome!

Mens finals were eh. Riding was OK, but the sections made it boring to watch. My daughter (7) likes to watch the woman's finals. for the most part it was frustrating to see all the stratodabs. But seeing Nina pull off that hook in competition was fairly awesome to see.

Try filming yourself. Typically what you think you are doing and what you are actually doing are very different. If you know what a good pedal kick should look like you can watch and pretty quickly figure out what you need to do better. If your brave you can even post it and ask for criticism.

Awesome! Have had some more time on mine and am loving it.

Never has anything more irrational been spoken. I need to get some more riding in this week.

This is my first custom frame. The geometry is the same as Ross's 'Marino Vader.' It is very different than anything else out there, and I think really fits what I have been unsuccessfully searching for. It's like the Goldilocks combination of street and tgs. My build is much more pure triasly than Ross's. So far I am really pleased with it. I need to play with the stem / bar angle / height.

Finally got my version built up. Definitely more of a pure style build, rode it for the first time today and quite enjoyed it!

In a non-setup related point. Do you think you may be just grabbing onto the bars too tight / unable to relax? I find sometimes if I either get back into riding after a few months off the bike or am really stressed out I end up clenching onto the bars / un-relaxed / and not breathing well. Takes some mental coaching to relax on the bike. That being said. Grips / angle matter a lot.
