Wow! Thanks for the advice. I'm on a 2016 Gu long bike now, so pedaling is where it's at. It definitely seems that faster is better. I've done different Hooklike moves on natty and even with a slight angle in the wall, but always where the rear wheel has a little bit to actually grab onto, not a "real" hook. It seems like without brakes would make more sense, but I'm not sure I can get the speed on my Gu. On a long pure bike, after initially hitting the wall, should I be releasing my brakes to help with the swap? I'm on the lookout for a good wall to practice on. Something a few inches higher than I can tap. I bit of a rounded edge or a touch of angle would make it easier, but have yet to find such a wall, so I might as well just grow a pair and start riding fast at walls taller than I currently know how to ride up. lol.

Besides the written one on trashzen I wasn't able to find a good write up on how to do a hook. Maybe my internet search skills are poor. Anywho. I get the basic idea, but am curious as to what should be going on with my brakes and any other pointers I may have not thought of. Anybody?

Really enjoyed this video.

If I remember from the last video I saw you post... it seems like you are progressing rapidly! The video effect was pretty cool... I think it would be neat to apply to a tutorial or something.

A good roof rack would be worth more than my car... We just moved. I have a van that can fit all my bikes and all my people back home I plan on bringing down here at some point.

Compared to the way Echo sells them and average weight weenie stock bikes these days. Obviously not beefy compared to street trials bikes. Trying the tensioner for a bit. I have to take my rear wheel off all the time and it just makes the process quicker and removes fiddling with the built in tensnioners every time. My wife and I only have one car, so often I will practice in town while she goes shopping or takes the kids to the children's museum, and I gotta take the wheel off to fit in the trunk.

Hey all. Here is the Gu I have been riding lately. I love the frame a LOT! It's the new one with a tapered headset. Anywho, it's a pretty beefy build too. I feel my builds have gotten a lot nicer since I stopped weighing crap. Old school echo double wall rear, trialtech cranks, and such. I drilled out a trialtech 4-bolt booster for the M6 clamp bolts, which is super easy since the holes aren't recessed in the trialtech. The M6 bolts are far superior and I think everyone should get on board. MT7 front with 200mm rotor and trialtech pads. Conti Der Kaiser rear and mountain king front.

Havent had much time on the bike lately. Been travelling east coast USA with my family in an RV for a few months. Cool part is exploring new riding spots. Flip side is I never really get to know an area well enough to find all the good riding. Here some clips from Raleigh North Carolina today.

There really were a lot more trials riders in USA 15 years ago or so. Back when any decent mtb guy on a DJ bike could wildly bunnyhop crap in the city and call it trials. I seriously get to ride with other people a few times a year. lol. Related to OP. I actually watched a few of Ali C's vlogs. There are a few other riders whose vlogs I'd watch if they put them out. But JJ is in the same group as most other riders... not vlog worthy. (I did try watching it). Keep it to video of the day and <60 second instagram and I might be able to tolerate.

There are some really short riders around. There is a guy maybe just an inch taller than you building up the same frame in USA who is a pretty good rider. Is this your first bike? How long have you been riding? I'd give it a go for a bit of time before giving up. (Not wanting to insult you if you're more experienced than I am interpreting from your post) Some riders expect the front end to come up super easy, but aren't giving it a full range of motion or enough force. As a shorter rider it's going to look different for you than a taller rider or someone with stupid long arms. Any local riders who's bikes you can try a bit?

Danny Mac Autobiography - Just in time for Christmas

I would be more interested in reading Ashton's -
A higher wall will make the move easier and feel more natural. Anything less than 3ft and it just doesn't work right.

Just about as close to UK as he is to Andy. I am an hour north of Boston amd it's still a long days drive to Baltimore. Been loving these solo session videos! Super smooth.

My cousts worked ok in the cold. Generally speaking all pads will not work as well when temperature drops below freezing.
-
At some point this just gets dumb.

@Ross McArthur You on the that bike is seriously awesome to watch. The dual disc echo with those wheels just looks sooooo freaking sharp.
-
This is awesome!

Frame alignment tools exist, park tool makes one. I used one at the bike shop when I worked at it like 15 years ago, they are still pretty rough around the edges Unless it is really bad, tightening one bolt then the other should be the way to go. I normally get the first bolt gently snug, adjust the other side, and then crank down the first side

I had a friend with the same size feet who let me borrow theirs for a few rides.... Modern online returns are pretty easy. But props for being old school.
-
Lol. Would love to ride with you sometime as well.

Although everybody still loves him, Andy is 100% troll all the time, but in the lovable "trials was better when I was your age" kinda way. It's funnier if you are familiar with the American riding scene, kinda like certain threads on here dedicated to jj Leigh. Maybe I will get there next year.

Why did that video have subtitles? He was already speaking english....

Somehow I think this is a feature that won't actually be used.

This x10. it used to be you tried some sort of organic aftermarket pad and hoped it didn't suck. The Trialtech or Jitsie pads (they are the exact same, under different brands) are absolutely brilliant on the BB7. I have been running a BBDB (the same one) for 12 years with a number of different pads and none of them come close. Go trialtech and go home happy. As per usual BB7, you need to get your brake setup perfect to feel the awesomeness.

The spot is Rockport Massachusetts, not Maine. Although close enough for all the brits. It's stupidly epic there. The granite is EXTREMELY grippy, and even the crappiest of tires will never slip. Also, normally big natty spots don't have a lot of flat or areas for rolling moves. However, Rockport used to be an oceanside granite quarry, where they would cut the blocks and load it right into the ship. So there are some huge flat areas and shelves all over the place, along with the normal crazy big technical natty. I live about a 90 minute drive from there, I would definitely go more often than I do. Some of the things Mike sidehops are just unreal to see in person, shoulder height on him.
