Are you reffering to the auto sync thing? So when you plug it in it updates the ipod from the music library? If so I have this and as soon as I upload the music onto my ipod i delete it off my pc. Then next time I connect it it does not delete the songs from my ipod. Sorry if this doesn't help and it's a load of crap.

Buy a complete bike new or second hand, then replace and upgrade the parts as you feel or need. Don't go for something too heavy as it will take forever to get used to.

Nero, by far the easiest I have found. Easy to use and if you get a new (ish) version there is a handy Start Smart little program that gives you all the option like make a data disc, VCD, Music CD and burning the image like .ISO etc.
