  1. Ok so i weighed my bike in at barrow afew weeks ago... 9.8kg! So i changed the front tyre, brake, hub, booster. Got it to 8.9kg now. Whats a decent weight to have it at? Or what are your guys bikes at?
  2. weyhey! looking good! "the lovely Carl Perkins" .. oh stop it you flirt. :$
  3. Yeah +1 for above. I was looking at the other bikes too.. 2012 onza zoot - £540!! You could get a high spec 2nd hander for that. But yeah nearly a grand for those bikes is un real.
  4. Echo deffinatley. Although no new parts is not an option. The bars, forks and pedals WILL snap. The ozonys doesnt even have a sealed headset or drilled rims.
  5. Just stick with it mate, play around with the geo i.e stem / bars & frame / fork. Get it so it feels suited to you.
  6. Anyone can learn to ride any bike. At 15 (no offence) but your still pretty small, you will only get bigger and stronger. You have more tyre/rim and frame choice with a 26" The size difference between 24 and 26 isnt alot, i would just get a high spec 26 frame and stick at it, buying a new bike wont mean your instantly ali c. My guess is that you havent been riding very long, so stick to what you know, practice practice and practice a bit more. This stuff dont come quickly, it takes patience and technique. Saying that i ride a echo 24 and i love it, but me riding a stock.. I barely feel a difference. The only difference is that my bike is set up for me where as the 26 i rode.. Wasnt.
  7. Cheers for the advice so far, i had a quick go at it earlier when i got in.. Still havent managed to get very far. I video'd muself and it looks like i barely lift the front wheel off the floor.. Is it better to lean back with the brake on, then let go andpedal? Or endo, no rear brake, rock back and try to pedal backwards? The second one seems more smooth i think but i can barely do it. First method seems jerky and hard to control, but i did manage to get about 1.5 feet out of it.
  8. alright lads.. basically a backwards wheelie... dont know if it has a name or not, i tried it a few months ago and managed to roll back like a foot, dont know how though. to anyone that can do it... how do you do it? so far i can get the endo (obviously) then lean back with the brakes on? till i get to a balanced height, then release the brake and start pedalling backwards as slow as possible. but the front end just fell to the floor most of the time.. any tips? or insider knowledge?
  9. +1 for kenda blue groove. grips on ANYTHING!
  10. i used to use a kenda blue groove on the rear (1.3kgs) which was absoloutly insane for grip! then i swapped to a big betty (900g i think) and i dont think it has nowhere near as good grip. but im not that arsed ill still ride it. seems good but its got thin walls so if you run super low pressure it will puncture, and the sidewalls seem to tear. its not bad, but its not great. id say its bang in the middle. but then again im not the greatest of riders so my opinion isnt that important haha
  11. 2012 zoot forks mate.. 2010 was green.. 2012 was orange. and it came out ages ago... http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/24_inch_trials_bikes/onza_zoot/c50p11230.html
  12. echo urban forks front kenda small block 8 rear shwalbe big betty light weight front tube welter weight rear tube front magura carbon bars = win
  13. haha after putting a DH tube in to stop the flats.. youll be at the same rear wheel weight as you would if you had a decent tyre i had the same predicament... doesnt everything with rockman written on it snap?
  14. 24" echo trial. but compared to my first (bent and cracked) onza 2010 zoot... theres no contest..
  15. i got them, used them out the box in the dry and they were great i thought (i had a new rotor too so that may have been why) but then in the rain they went shit. and then when they dried out they werent anything special, so i guess they got contaminated. i just took them out and went back to standard pads.
  16. i used to have them on a jump bike and they suckes. from my experience all halo tyres suck.
  17. new chain, (kmc610hx) new front tyre (small block 8) new grips (rockman thicks) maggy for the front, new brake clamp bolts, new innertube for front on the way.. echo sl front non disc hub echo tr brake lever.
  18. yeah when i bought the TR clamps (washerless) i realised my mounts werent 100% straight, (very few are) so i filed them straight and my pad is 100% square to the rim now and it works perfect, as for the cylinders slipping, this happened to me too.. basically i cleaned off the clamps to get grease etc off, then gave the cylinders a light sanding just to make them rough. the idea being that the rougher the cylinder the more friction it has and the less it moves. not sure if this is correct but it worked (then again i might have set it up better when i put it all back on the bike) make sure you clean out your frame threads & bolts before putting the bolts back in, i used WD40 on a ear bud. then copper grease the bolts and set it all up.
  19. New hub new spokes. Echo sl non disc hub. Onza zoot 24" front rim
  20. +1 for echo sl forks being shit, i sold mine after a month (im suprised they lasted that long) they flex like fook and creak alot,
  21. hm.. well i want to lace my front wheel radial, so i want to get it right. and all i have is a tape measure to do so. will the inner rim diameter plus say 3mm work? (1mm for each rim thickness and 0.5mm for nipple seat) close enough or do i need to be more precise when measuring?
  22. vee's are good if setup right, but the vee-adaptors have a habit of snapping. dual disc is shit IMO, just for the fact youll forever be buying rotors if your learning. why not just go for magura's? they are lighter than most discs and are tried and tested.
