yeah do half a crank with the bad foot to lift the wheel then the other half with the right foot to jump up with the bike. when people just do the right half turn and jump up stuff.. they are manualing into it. therefore they dont need the initial half turn to lift the front. hope this helps

give your rim a decent grind, clean the pads then try again? if the setup is the same, and the only thing different is the rim.. then its gotta be that surely.

yeah he's right. but considering its just some randomer taking photos.. not exactly going for the action shot. but yeah those pictures are terrible. cant tell whats going on. 1. 1ft drop off? 2. ?? 3. not even riding 4. sidehop maybe?

+1 for the big betty. after hearing everyone raving about the big betty i thought.. ohh ill get one. and they SUCK. I was running a kenda blue groove which is by far THE best tyre i have every used. i cant compare it to the swampthing as i havent run one, but the blue groove will grip on the most rediculous of surfaces. i only changed because of the weight and i wish i hadnt. the big betty punctures easy, rolls like a fat kid on a hill, and the knobbles just tear off. i think i may try the swampthing next. i was considering the fat albert but it seems they are just a lighter version of the big betty

speak to mick at radical bikes? he'll be able to give you an idea of how hard it is. he set up on his own land though as a business. and he was telling me once how much trouble he had with the insurance aspect of it. getting the council to give you an are is highly highly highly unlikely. worth a shot though i suppose.

ive done this to a few tyres.. i normall cut off the smallest nobbles on the sides of the tyre. yeah it does save a bit of weight but nothing worth mentioning. as for grip.. on slanted/smooth stuff i dont think it would make much difference. but im convinced that on brick walls with sharp edges, the bigger gap between the nobbles lets the corner of the wall into it and it hold on there better. Ill probably do it to every tyre i buy, even if it is only a psychological affect.. its an affect non the less and if it helps you ride better... you got nowt to lose but a bit of time and rubber. for cutting it off.... its a pain in the arse. i just have a sharp hunting knife or a stanley, then instead of doing a sawing action.. just push the blade square into the knobble untill it goes all the way through.. its the safer and tidier way of doing it. takes bout 30mins - an hour.

i know.. id just started out, i was crap. and they were cheap. perfect combo for a heavy bike.

alot of weight can be saved in tyres and tubes. before i even cared about weight i ran a kenda blue goove on the front and rear. weighing in at 1.3kgs each, a DH tube in the rear (700g) and a heavy duty tube in the front (400g) my tubes nd tyres alone were over 3.5 kgs. then i got a big betty, kenda small block 8, lightweight tube and a welterweight and now the whole set up must only weight about 2 kgs. considering you said your heavy components are the frame, forks, bars and stem.. theres not alot you can do to stem, bars or forks, and the weight you can save off a frame is not even worth doing to be honest. so you might aswell try save up and buy better front end parts.

after nitromors... 100 grit. the primer will fill the tiny grooves left behind

nah mate, im restoring it. Its not got a solid base to go on. There's hidden rust and body filler all over the place, and dents everywhere. my plan is strip it to bare metal, cut out rusty areas and replace with solid sheet metal welded in, smooth all the joins. pull all the dents, then maybe use some body filler if i have to before i get it sprayed. i have a twisted wire brush on the end of my angle grinder which is doing an ok job (fookin better for £25!) and i have some paint removing angle grinder discs on the way. took me an hour and a half to do half of the roof, its basically just apply, scrape, apply, scrape, wire brush on grinder, sand with 100 grit block. but nitromors is shit so just need summit stronger :/

nah blasting is like £500 and they only do the seams and fiddly parts of the car. blasting big flat panels causes heat and distorts the panels. you can get home blast kits for £100 + the many many bags of grit you will need. works out about £400. havent looked into acid bathing. any idea on a price for a whole car? and surely only the body and chassis could be done? the whole car would have to be entirely stripped?

Does anyone know if theres anything stronger than nitromors for stripping paint? Im using it on an entire vw camper. so will need LOADS!! i did the engine bay door earlier, with nitromors. and it took ages. it basically just "softened" the paint, rather than blistering it. i ended up scraping all the paint off. anyone had any experience with anything stronger?

depends how you set it up.

SNNNNNAP!

i got a mod frame and forks done for £35. was a real good job with a top company too.
-
horrible. looks like a lumpy grey mess. if you have it blasted it will need spraying.
-
Yup it dulls the shine. And no it doesnt stick properly. I dont it so much on parts of my old motorbike and it just falls off, and then its a massive pain in the arse to remove. I advise dont bother

When you say changed? Do you mean sold and buy a skye? Or mke to look like a skye. If you mean make to look like a skye.. Dont bother, its gay.
-
ok so i got an echo 24. i was running a whopping 165mm x 35' mod stem, but it cracked. thus need a new one. whats a good stem to go for? I know nothing of geo. and ive heard a slightly shorter and lower stem may be better for TGS style riding. any ideas? as im going to need to buy one asap. cheers in advance!
