Does Anyone Ride Stock Bikes With Dual Disc
howvard replied to howvard's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Literally just went for a ride and I really know what you meen they are so bad in fareness. I suppose for me the only thing I can do to have the enjoyment of using a maggie is to buy a new frame with a wide rear end which makes me sad to say goodbye to my first frame. Can you post a pic of the dual disc bike. Thanks for the help mate. -
I think I have asked before but didnt get much of a response. I ride a mad phase 1.3 and this dosent have a very wide rear end or magura mounts. As much as I would like to run magura, the rim that I run on the rear is to wide to accomidate a v-brake or magura so I have been forced to run dual disc. This came as a shock so im not running a great setup at the moment. Avid SD7 levers and hayes and tektro calipers not great. I have seen many MOD's riding dual disc but not so many stocks. The Hope trials brakes seem to get used alot and the Magura Louise, but I dont know if these brakes will hold a stock bike steady on the rear wheel. Any advice or help pictures of your disc setups would be great and help out. Thanks

I find this a very hard aspect of trials that I find I can never get quite right, its somtimes a case of harder tyres so quicker rolling and rapid bounce or a lower pressure for grip and slower bounce. I ride a stock but am interested to know what tyres and what pressure any riders use on MOD or STOCK Thanks for any replys

I have a mad phase 1.3 and had a pretty random rear brake setup but I would say the trialtech one as thats what held my frame and brake solid
-
I ride there lowest 1.3 had it for some time now great bike I have done loads of changes check my pics out. They are great for beginners but can take a real beating. I would say to get the 1.2 or 1.1 as they have magura mounts. ( thats where I went wrong ) But look around. They are good and well recognised.

Is It Worth Buying Offset Mounts And Running An Evo 2 Adapter Kit
howvard replied to howvard's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
I have that hole set up with the booster and adapter. Plus i have an old school set of ofset mounts that will fit in the v-brake slot. I cant really be bothered to set it all up like that though. It looks pretty untidy on a trials bike and sticks out quite alot. Im gunna try and find some bb5 or bb7 calipers and run dual disc still and buy some larger roters. I think tuis is probably best for me, or I will try and get a new frame to setup. Thanks everyone. -
Is It Worth Buying Offset Mounts And Running An Evo 2 Adapter Kit
howvard replied to howvard's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Ok I havent thought about that but that seems like a good idea. I will try and look for a different frame cheap with a wide rear end when im validated. Then I can finally run a maggie. I will miss the old frame had for some time now. I like to think its one of the nicest mad phase bikes around. ( there are some pics on my post (The MAD phase) Thanks for the tips mate What bike do you ride. -
Is It Worth Buying Offset Mounts And Running An Evo 2 Adapter Kit
howvard replied to howvard's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Thanks for the advice. I cant run a v-brake already tried it. The arms stick out to far and hit the cranks or my leg and it just didnt work. -
Hi all I ride a mad phase 1.3 and due to changing some parts including the rear wheel I am now ruinning dual disc. My new wheel is 46mm wide and very large for this frame. I would like to run a magura but I would have to use aan evo 2 adapter kit and use offset mounts. I think this would all look very messie but I dont know if its worth doing that or upgrading the disc. Any advice would be great thanks. Howard

I have this problem at the moment so im running odd cranks. But if the thread has gone (like mine) if its made from aluiminium find a guy that can weld some into the hole and then get a new screw thread cut into it.

I would say to not do the tugs up so much or to try a set of snail cams my mate had this problem but has just bought some snail cams and it is solved. Hope you can get it sorted and keep riding.
