So are these pads Try-all, as opposed to koxx, (as in koxx bloxx)... different then? Why do so many people look at pads and go, "oh they look good, i want to buy a pair"....? I mean none of us know they are good, they could be crap, yet everyone is taken in by the look of it.

Your chain is on the wrong way up, nice bike and tensioner though

Just about to ask the exact same question... It looks so sharp, i want that grind! Bike looks really nice, not into the whole 24" thing at all, but for that i make an exeption

Hey Phil just wanted to tell you how amazing you are, i loved the demo today. k x x x x x You have a girlfriend king, txt her from some txt sex (from my ex who got the wrong idea when i texted her recently) R u busy? Can i call you? Xxx

No, not the rotors, the main problem was the frames snapping because of the massive force placed on one side of the dropouts. However, bike companies finally realised this and started beefing up the drop out areas and adding extra braces and gussets at the critical areas.

Home made pads can be brilliant, but you should remember that the ones bought from a shop are not first generation - they have been prototyped and tested non stop. Heatsink and rim jam both set out as guys making home made pads, who eventually wanted to offer them to the public. Adam Read also went through a fase of working on some pads (tarty pads) but nothing came of it because it was too time consuming. Also it was often the case that when they made a promising break through, something else came along as an issue. Basically making home made pads you have to be lucky to find a good material first time. If you try it good luck to you, and keep us posted as to how you do.

Why on earth would you do that? There is nothing wrong with the Zona, its not a bike to be ashamed of is it? What the hell is it coming to when people have to pretend their frame is something else just to get better respect from fellow cretins. As i have explained in many other topics the XTP is a fantastic bike - light, great feel, great to look at and basically one of the best frames available. HOWEVER it is a competition frame, a serious one. It was designed to be used for comps by the worlds top riders therefore it is not meant to be hurled at street stuff. The tubing on the XTC is 1.2mm thick - incredably thin, whereas on the zip or python it is nearer to 2mm. This means that the python is heavier and therefore not as good for comps, but better for riders who are still learning techniques and moves and may occasionally hit the frame etc. Put it this way, you abuse the XTP (if you take it on street basically) it will crack, it doesn't make it any worse, because it leads the way in what it was designed for - comps. The python and similar bikes lead the way in what they were designed for - being indestructable for all mannor of riders. I cannot stress enough how easy it is to ruin the XTP frame through eneral mistakes in riding... Make your choice based on this... but don't say i didn't warn you
-
Ha Ha, Yeah, and i have a toilet made out of solid gold Dont you just love the shite build quality on montys! Python, Gu, Zip for the win!

Its a new frame from koxx for their newest sponsored rider. It will therefore in theory eventually be for sale, but it will have a big price tag - £600 for the frame would be about right for koxx. Personally i love it, and i would have one tomorrow if i could! (Its my 18th tomorrow so maybe i will! lol)

Sorry i have't read all the posts but some of them are utter sh*te! People giving advice that they know f*ck all about. The zip frames are great value for money, they are very strong and basically perfect for somone who is still leaning. The length of the frame at 1040 lends its self well to a taller rider than some of the other mods out there, but this does not mean that a smaller person wouldn't do well on it. Who ever it was saying that it wasnt one of the best because of the XTP and Echo team and stuff is stupid. The tubing on the xtp is 1.2mm - so thin that you can dent it with your bear hands. It is deliberately designed this way so that it is light, but it is a SERIOUS comp frame, not ideal for a person who is still learning moves. So basically what i am saying is maybe your view is something along the lines of, more expensive = better. But personally i can't of a better value frame than the zip. Cheap, strong and good geometery. If you are looking for a second hand one then there are a couple of guys selling - I think onzaboymark is selling, and also danny swindlehurst... However if you decide you want one you MUST NOT make any kind of deal on here until your validated, or you will be warned my a mod/admin. So do your deals over msn or something

Thats aweful. It really brings it home when its something so small like a bunny hop up a curb that killed him... It just shows how careful we should be, doing moves that we take for granted as being easy might not be so safe... I will always wear a helmet to ride in. RIP, my thoughts are with friends and family of Juri

Some really excellent shots there, i really like that they are all good quality rather than sh*t quality tiny pics that you have to squint at. All the colours and stuff made the pictures work well compositionally - although i am no expert photographer. I absolutely love the K-SAS frane, i want it as my next bike just because of the painjob. The sections look ace, i love that little bit with the waterfall, maybe they should of made the riders go up that? Well done to all the Brits - Great to see quite a few of us up there on the podiums

Basically if you divide the chain ring size by the rear sprocket size then you should have a number of around 1.2 - 1.2 is generally the accepted ration for trials. I run 22 : 18 so if i divide 22 by 18 i get 1.2222222 Some people prefer slightly harder gears, some slightly easier, but most people run aroung 1.2 P.S. This is in reference to 26" bikes, i can;'t say i know mod gear ratios.
-
Not sure what you talkng about really.... Normal Axel spacing for a stock is 135mm (aslong as silly deng doesn't get his way in 07 ) and for a mod its 110mm...
-
There isn't a 'disc version'. They are all the same wether rim or disc. They are designed so that can be used for rim brakes if, OR disc.
-
Yes, eventually it would. If you ground if off then at least it would look like it was meant to be like that, and you would have a brake that actually works.

Pretty Similar: Zoo! Pitbull 05 Koxx Levelboss Kenny Belaey Pro model Echo Control Next step: Echo Pure (only 18mm BB rise so maybe belongs in 'Pretty similar')? Ashtom Justice (BB rise = 20mm but it is shorter than most others at only 1055) Simtra ST-1 Onza Limey Vario Styx KOT MS2 MBK T1000 'Who you kidding': Koxx V Racing Zoo Pitbull 06 Echo Hifi Adamant A1/A2 Gu Typhoon Czar Ivan Koxx Vinco Pro Model Thats how i see it... Others may disagree but hopefully that will give you some idea. The main factor i was working with was BB rise because it is the thing that varies the most for frame to frame these days My advice would be go for one of the 'next step frames' because the high BB rise you either love them or you hate them, and it would be a shame if you hated one you bought... Having said that, i love my Czar Ivan because i have made a point of sticking with it, and not giving up at the first hurdle like everyone else did with high bb rise bikes.

I have explained this before but there is no harm in doing it again: The 06 Echo rims are bad because of their shape - They have a very square cross section which meant that whenever they are hit the force isn't channeled down into the spokes and dispersed over a large area, but it is contained in the sidewalls that then fold because of the high pressure. Basically, they were a nice idea, but they weren't as good as hoped/expected. The Ronnie rim is pretty good for the rear, i had one which lasted for around 8 months with maybe 10 grinds in total. Personally however i would have to say Tryall seem to be your best bet. I know people slag them off and discribe them as cheese etc, but they are still the most popular rims around, and thats because despite them having a few weaknesses, no company has brought out a rim that is better (although i would say Onza has provided equal alternatives). Of course there are other rims out there which aren't trials specific but are still good - Alex Dx32 and Mavic Ex721 (used to be called the D521). The main problem with the mavic is they are rather narrow and therefore can't be used with rim brakes in most modern frames. I would suggest reading the info on TartyBikes because it is very accurate and informative.

Cheers for that extra picture, it does look like a nice booster to be honest. Would there be possibilities of having them in more colours in the future? I don't know how the anodising process works - might not be that easy to do. Also the idea of brake levers and magura clamps sounds great, maybe you could also do snal cams, and magura maount to V brake mount converters. Just some suggestions Keep it up, and keep us posted as to how they do.

Yeah Yeah! buy the fresh products one... I have one for sale if you want it? Not used much, PM me if your interested

I use the mono trial, I used to use the standard mini. The mono trial is generally good. The quality of all the parts are up to the usual standards of hope. The brake is powerful AND has good modulation. The rotor that mine came with was known to crack although i believe they have slightly changed the design to make it stronger. There is a small amount of flex in the caliper despite it being a single piece design simply because of the power of the brake. The standard mini is not powerful enough of trials in my opinion. You may get away with it for mod, but for stock it is a no. It again retains the high standards of hope. The feel is slightly better because the less powerful pistons flex the caliper less hence less sponge. However this isn't a complete winner over the mono trial. The hope Try-all is exactly the same as the mono trial just with fancy coloured bits. The actual internals and mechanism are identical. The only thing that may effect performance is the rotor - being a wavy rotor with quite a few odd shaped holes may make a difference - but it wouldn't be that noticable.

There is definately mixed opinions about them. I dont think you can say one is best because the things they improved on the 05 lever was cancelled out by the new problems in the design. Basically they should of made more/better changes to it and they didnt, so they are about the same in my opinion. I use an 05 because thats all i could get hold of at the bike show way back in those days, and to be honest it works sufficiently well. The feel isn't as good as the 04, but i think it i just as powerful and has other better points about it.

Looks nice. Taken the best bits of 2 nice frames and put them together! Sorry, i am sure everone knows this exept me but where has this bike come from? Is this a Deng job (judging by the echo/Gu look Deng had some imput)? Or is this unrelated to him just happened to use the same CNC bits, or what? And 'Dan' (sorry i don't know you) who are you - engineer? bike mechanic? random rider? Or are you the brains behind the SAS? I am sure i seem like a retard asking but i haven't a clue :$ Did you design the frame and get it built in taiwan? Basically, i want to know you! I want to be your friend TELL ME EVERYTHING THERE IS TO KNOW! Cheers EDIT: Cheers People, it has all become clear
