Wow I thought like 1-2 maximum lol. Well I know I can give them a good grind then and be safe. And what do you mean "cheap red material"? Thanks for the advice on pads too. Is it best to go for a hard compound or soft compound for a ground rim?
-
OK, well thanks for all the advice, I will just wait a little while and spend a bit extra
-
Probably an Inspired would be the way to go. 24" street style. Perfectly trials friendly, but can also do dirt jumping and whatever else you want Edit: sorry only just noticed how long ago that was posted

Well, as I am trying to get back into trials, I am wanting some advice on rim grinding. The bike I have at the moment, only uses Vee brakes, and I want to make sure they aren't going to let me down. The rims have had one very very light grind, but look like they have been well used since the grind (big line of brake pad colouring around the rim), was just wondering if it safe to grind more than once? If I just do a light one to kind of "buff" it back up a bit... And also, what would be the best/good pads to use on a grinded but well used rim? And also on a fresh grind if it's safe to grind again..

That was funny to watch And I know how big it is now Alex, I just didn't know if it was measured from each end of the hub, or the frame...
-
Sorry no my bad, it's a Commencal. I had just told someone about the Onza before typing that, so had it on my mind No the bike it's going on is a 26" 2008 Commencal Absolut.
-
Have to say I really really enjoyed watching that. Very much my style of riding, more street stuff. Good video guys!

OK good. I don't mind waiting a while, I just have a lot of problems with E-Mails so didn't know if you got it or not. And I don't like to phone when it's just a few simple questions, I feel like I'm pestering
-
It was a question that makes sense. I was asking how you measure it, like end to end, or just the hub or what. It's a 26" Onza Spyrogyra.

Well I am looking on Tarty for bits to build a new rear wheel for my jump bike. I was just wondering how I tell what size my current one is? 4 options have come up, and I have no idea which sized one I need...
-
Got to say, never heard of this before. What tensioners are you using on the chain? Or is it gears? If it's a tensioner, I would suggest using a different kind... Personally, I prefer tugs.
-
I guess I shall pay the extra for one then, and hope it doesn't break Do Tarty accept PayPal by the way? It's my only means of paying... Edit: Just to add, I sent you an E-Mail regarding a rear wheel build Adam, did you receive it?
-
Not really, I have had fairly decent ones before, and they still brake, I don't know if its my riding style or whatever, or maybe just because I'm still getting the hang of the basics or what. But they seem to brake fairly easy
-
Yeah I live by the rule of "If you buy cheap you buy twice"... But I didn't know if someone had bought a cheaper one and it had lasted well. I seem to have really bad luck with my freewheels braking, so I don't want to spend 40-50, and it just brake again in a month
-
Well, as my friend has managed to salvage what's left of his trials bike, apart from the brakes, it's made me want to get my trials bike sorted out (just needs a new freewheel). Now I finally have somebody to ride with. And looking on Tarty, the cheapest one is £39, but I know Tarty products are good. But on eBay the cheapest I found was £6.99. What do people think of the cheaper options? Just for messing around on, bare in mind I'm a total novice. Or is it worth waiting until I have some spare cash, and buying the more expensive one?
-
And your user name explains it all... Just for a bit of added irony.
-
I'm not sure on what make of wheel to go for, for lightness but strength, but in my opinion, black ones will look crap. It would be too much black for me personally, I like the black/white look.
-
Thanks for all the advise guys, and yes it is a case of it slipping off the end and also rotating. I was going to use like a spray form of glue perhaps instead? I didn't think hairspray would have lasted very long or dried sticky enough to make them stay in place?

Ahhh, thank you mate! I shall now search eBay for grip stops, see if it comes up with anything Nice one fella!
-
Well, I don't want to buy new grips because I quite like my current ones as their camo. I was wondering if anyone knows of anything you can get, just like a bit that adds onto the handlebar end to hold your grips on? Working in a similar fashion to have your brake levers held on. Just a wrap round piece of metal and screw? I've tried eBay, but not really sure what to search other than lock on grips, and that just brings up new grips :$ Anyone help?

Sexyyyyyyyyy. I like.

Yeah I am taking it back today, after getting help from Jake "dirt jumper jake" I've now been informed it's an internal headset... Which the shop didn't inform me and it came with a normal one fitted so I had no idea
-
Did I say I was powder coating it? No I didn't. Did I say I was as good as/better than a factory? No I didn't. 100% of nothing, I said 100% meaning no marks or blemishes or scratches or nothing like that. As in 100% smooth, all the same colour, no faded parts like you sometimes get. And actually, if you apply the paint properly, and also clear coat it well, it may not be as hard as powder coating, but you can get just as good a finish in my personal experience. Also, I prefer to try and test methods rather than go by the book. That way I know what works for me and doesn't.

I have now being told, after buying this 1 1/8th headset, that my frame is the next size up. Can anyone tell me what the next size up headset is from 1 1/8th inch?
-
Well after going to be the bike shop yesterday and getting new parts, getting home and trying to fit them and they won't fit. I now have bought a full new headset. And I am needing some help in how to fit it to my bike as I always had trouble with the old ones. I have tried a few different ways, and when I tighten it up, the handlebars just won't turn. I tried reading the instructions, but got a bit lost as I don't know the "technical" name for all the rings and bearings and everything else. So I have put a picture below, in the hope someone can help me finally fit my headset. Please somebody give me some clue to how to do this
