- Pinnicale Tharpu Peak frame - RS Relavlations (130mm) - SLX (ish) drivetrain 2x9 - Truvativ Stylo cranks/bb - Hope XC/ sun rims rear & f**ked no-name hub/ sun rims front - Deore brakes - DMR V12 mags - WTB bars/ stem/ seat/ seatpost It has been ridden more in the past term of uni than it has in the last two years, absolutely loving it! Took it up to Stile Cop last week and seemed happy enough on all the bits my skill level allows me to take it to which was a nice surprise

Iv bought a brand new shimano deore 36t chain ring, and trying to fit it to some truvativ stylo cranks. However, the chain ring doesn't drop into place as the tabs on the chain ring are too long. Is it simply a case of filing the tabs a little shorter to let it drop into place or have I bought the wrong sized chainring? Iv tried to show the problem in this pic: Thanks Chris

I had similar problems when fitting the stereo to my '93 Polo which I presume must be a similar stereo setup? IIRC, I switched the red and yellow wires around and it worked instantly

Harper Adams (About 15 mins drive from Telford)

I've just got to uni near (ish) to Telford and would be well up for a ride at some point (Would have absolutely no clue where to go though)

I have a habit of taking things apart, then royally f**king them up, so I think the safest bet would be to get someone else to do it (Price dependant), what kind of cost would I be looking at to get it fixed?

I bought an iPhone 4 second hand recently, however the silent button doesn't work and neither does the vibrate, which is getting a tad annoying. Does anyone have a link to a good company that would be able to fix this/ any ideas on how to fix it? A lot of the websites I've found look dodgy as f***, or only seem to do screen/ home button fixing. Failing that, how difficult is it to take apart and fix myself?

Just a quickie, will having my bike in front of the radiator do bad things to it when turned on? (I'm thinking of perishing rubber, drying out the hubs ect?) How its currently sat:

As of this time next week, I'll be at Harper Adams uni for the year and i'm debating whether or not to bring my bike up with me, are there many riders in the surrounding area/ places to ride? I'll have my car with me so can travel to a certain extent!

I guess that would be possible, but im not sure what checks they do/ what really happens to be honest! And sod being failed on something trivial like that, so would rather keep it above board -

My friend and I are in the process of completing our Gold Duke of Edinburgh and for the 'Physical' section we have both chosen to do trials biking. In order to complete the 'Physical' section we have to have done the activity for 12 months, and have an assessor to sign us off. We have basically videoed our riding for the past year ish which acts as the evidence for the years riding, it is at this point that we some help! We are therefore asking if anyone (who is sponsored/ has significant links with trials/ trials achievements) would be kind enough to complete our assessment forms, (In return for beer tokens if required!) "What would you have to do?" - For anyone interested, you would have to watch/ pretend to watch some/ all of the videos (On YouTube) we have made over the years to get a rough idea of improvement/ skills, you would then need to fill out the 'Assessors Comments' section on the form below. (The form will be printed out, posted to you with a pre-stamped return envelope enclosed, so wont cost you anything but time!) As there are 2 of us, two separate forms will have to be filled out. Although that makes it sound like a LOT of work, it isn't too much in reality! This is the form that you would only need to fill in the 'Assessors comments' section of it: And the videos in question: I'm hoping that makes sense, if it doesn't, please let me know! Anyone who would be interested in helping us, let me know on here or via PM, I would be eternally grateful! Thanks Chris & Ollie

I'll keep an eye out for him Only 2 (ish) weeks to go!

Virtually It's Harper Adams (Agricultural uni) and im doing Off Road vehicle design, so a Polo wont fit in very well
-
It does indeed I'm only using this until I turn 19 / insurance drops enough to make it viable to switch it out for a Land Rover (which will be far more suitable for uni!)

Shameless car whoring: Horny.

Thanks for the help guys, however I didn't have time to have even half a look at the bike! I just left it so it stays in the middle ring by adjusting the High/ Low screws which he seemed happy with
-
Ok, just had a play, and not much improvement. I've tightened the cable which has made the cage move further, however the shifter still doesn't 'Click' even though it is comfortably going into the position of the middle ring (Though not quite far enough for the big ring). Could it be knackered shifters? (Shimano STI shifters)

Nice one il have a play in my lunch break and hope for the best!

I foolishly told a mate I would try and fix his gears on his bike ready for uni on Saturday, however I've had no time to have a proper look and won't have long tonight either, hence why im asking here to try and reduce time spent messing around trying to work out what's wrong! It's a fairly ancient rigid mountain bike with what must be equally as ancient trigger shifters. The rear gears are fine, however the front gears don't feel as though they are indexing(At the shifter end) and therefore wont change up when pressed (Though will just about change to the middle ring when the shifter is pushed all the way in and held). The only thing I can think to do is pull the cable further through at the mech end, would that potentially work? / What could I try? I hope that makes sense? I F****** hate gears.

The 'skill:time spent riding' ratio is not a good one we've both been riding just under 3 years (ish, I think). And manuals are fine! I just bare in mind that even stroking the back brake will bring me crashing back down to earth
