if you can get your hands on a 74 kings your in for a treat, anything will do doesnt really matter its only to take up the slack im using an old locked out derailleur on my pile, works fine -

are we talking about mod or stock here ?, mod id say tryall sicky lites and stock a higher end conti tyre like a rubber queen or der kaiser

if its in the crank area take everything with threads off and loctite it then tighten it all back up, leave the loctite to set and it should stop it

nar avids are fine not the stiffest in the world but iv had mine sd7's on for about 2 years now no problems

vee brakes work fine, just make sure you get some decent pads and take some time to set it all up properly and your sorted

hah that was really cool to see what goes on with the bike while your riding, the angle from the seatstay towards the back brake is a pretty good one

yeah if you havn't got a vice you can use a block of wood between your brake and hold it on for a minuet or two till the glue dries -
