  1. I'm using monty oil now as didn't want my brake to freeze up like last year and its maybe half way between water and standard mag fluid. I'd certainly be interested in this phat fluid if its like water.
  2. Hello to tensile freewheels! I specifically chose them for the reason they use a trusted and readily available tool to remove, vice and a length of sturdy pipe see's it right off!
  3. Not sure.i've got an original levelboss that i'm currently building up which i'm looking forward to riding as it looks like the bike i should have had ten years ago instead of the pashley i had which i always thought was to long at the rear and short on the front! Old frame or not though, looks like a bargain!
  4. Have i missed something. Tarty have a try-all spec'd levelboss 2 for 649 pounds! Are they crap frames? Haven't done any price guessing but shouldn't think there'd be a lot of change out of the price for components let alone a full bike. Excuse the lack of a link but on my phone sat next to a toilet on a 3hr train journey........probably why i'm posting about pointless stuff like this?!
  5. I'd personally avoid using footage of yourself, it would just look a bit to "look at me look at me" if that makes sense, not overly professional! To expand on the first point i'd take it back to why trials started, that mototrials riders wanted something to play with so ot pi's dad made the bikes etc. Sure you can google for info but the episode of keeny belaeys big trial adventure program covers that and its on vimeo. In fact, rob that blind as that programme was created to show people who know nothing about trials what its about, as is your presentaion. Maybe email giles wolfe at M.A.D. He was around long before I started 10 years or more ago so has seen the whole thing grow, might even be able to provide stats on sales and growth to back up the sport is growing. Back then, if it wasn't megamo or monty a trials bike was just a small rigid mountain bike with a couple of modifications. Talk about how its now an equal cycling discipline with world cup rounds etc. Explain why you like trials and what the draw is. Hope that helps?!?
  6. Hi guys I've just lost use of my laptop. I got a warning saying it was cained with worms when I went to a shop website, some weird screen came up with all the aspects of the computer c-drive, recovery space etc, removable memory device etc. I've seen the screen before when I press the computer screen, it was the same but in a less fancy way, a bit more nimbus like than windows, I ran a security scan and it showed nothing. Worked fine all last night. Shut it down then the mrs started up this morning, or not, it powered up but didn't do anything. I kept pressing the trusted ctrl alt del combo and some how managed to start it in sae mode, backed up my photos and music, wifey then did a few bits, told her to reset it and now its dead as a doe doe, powers up but nothing at all appears on screen Can anyone sugest anythng before I get my pants pulled down by PC world? Thanks Kevin
  7. How tall are you, if your 6ft or even a little less you might find a mod simply induces ultimate backache?!?

    Frozen Brake

So to be proper about this, does anyone know of an oil so thin its like water? I had to replace a slave cylinder piston after leaving a water which froze last winter a couple times, but then didn't ride for months and it wouldn't return.i rang magura uk to be told water is just about ok if used regularly but it will corrode the pistons after some time. I've got monty from tarty in mine at the moment and the stroke feels a lot thicker,i dont like it! Is there a proper alternative to any kind of water bleed?
  12. If you do wanna swap i've got a 203 bb7 with post mount adaptor and xt lever if your interested?
  13. Thanks for the suggestion, think i've found somewhere for £35 a night ensuite with tv and everything which isn't to rude. Thanks again for replying

  16. or else get a 22t bashring and screw on cog and run the freewheel on the rear, i'd prefer that but i couldn't find a 22t ring anywhere, mind you i dont really know where to look, someonemust make on?
  17. I literally asked the same thing last week.measure the thread depth on the crank arm.i was using a 5mm uci ring and tensile 96 but thread was a bit shallow so had to get the ring machined down to 3mm as you need at least 7mm contact between fw and crank.search my content, would post link but doing this on my phone so cant, hope it helps.it was suggested trialtech rings would be ok as they are only 3mm!
  18. Possibly, but then did that stop echo making their hydraulic brakes? I think a different design and some relevant branding might help to.i think i'll research the hubs a bit,i'm off work sick for a couple of weeks so lots of time to kill! I'll see what i can find out! 19. Arse...... .think i'll look into it much further before getting someone to make a prototype!
  20. I understand, but this is aiming at cheap bikes,i'm talking a few hundred, your cheap saracens etc but also from a money making point of view dirt jump bikes also at this price.i haven't researched it but there must be untold hubs which accept a shimano freehub unit for ease of replacement as they are so available?your right,it may be a bit late and perhaps its a solution that was valid years ago but use of freewheels then was exclusively for megamo's and monty's,if only i'd had the forward thinking.
  21. becuase then you have to rebuild the wheel and your looking at another £80 total from what your suggesting and that much money you would have just spent on the bike in the first place. Imagine a freehub that doesn't rotate screwing into the hub as per. now visualise a lip with a thread in front to accept a screw on sprocket or freewheel. Your basically taking the moving parts out of the block, apart from a bearing maybe, and putting them on the outside in the freewheel? make sense?
  22. Yes I know hat your saying but the idea of this is for riders with entry level bikes. The principal is, ideally the part would cost about £15, you then add your freewheel. When you have to replace the wheel you would then upgrade to a proper freewheel specific hub, and transfer your components to the new set up. Shimano hubs aren't great but cheap hubs are on cheap bikes. The principal is to help someone who is probably a new rider buying this sort of bike the chance to upgrade immediately for half the price of what your suggesting, all it would need is the freewheel, as you suggest £35, or even an acs claw which you can get on ebay for £15 which I think has 36 EPs like the hope hubs of old that even pro's used to ride, so the figure of £95 you mentioned isn't valid. Dirt jumpers also use singlespeed so it could appeal to them also. A £15 part i think is disposable and if your learning the chances of trashing a wheel quickly are less likely as unless your nuts your not gonna go leaping off huge drops that will collapse the wheel and seriously buckling a wheel is pretty hard at slow speed unless you try rolling 180's and totally mess it up. the idea is its a quick cheap upgrade to make it easier for beginners. Hope the concept makes sense, may have already been done though looking at your picture???
