Never used the evo2 kit so I wouldnt know, I used tensile clamps to begin with but they made the break slip now I have echo tr's they work fine. The only other thing i can think of is if your bolts are bottoming out in your frame? if they are you can be brave and file/cut them or be a pussy and buy some newuns (like me) good luck mate

It's well fiddly, I use my bank card to get it square, are you managing to get the bolts in properly and tighten them?
