  1. Tiesto was dropping this all round Europe last summer. Love the build up / drop ~ 4 mins.

  3. That happened on Sunday. I've rooted my Desire and have been running an Android 2.2 (Froyo) ROM since June. At the moment I'm giving the new, official HTC ROM a try and might stick with it for a while. While the camera is perfectly decent, 720p video isn't as good as the new iPhone's due to lower framerates, but 800x480 in daylight is really nice and smooth. The iTunes sync thing is a bit overrated. It doesn't actually sync with iTunes, but syncs your iTunes library through HTC's own software... which only runs on Windows. If both were the same price, I would probably have gone for the Nexus, but the operators are basically giving away Desires and you get so much phone for your money. The Hardware of the Desire and Nexus is almost completely identical (Desire actually has extra RAM). I prefer the hardware of the iPhone 4 if I'm honest, but Android OS and the very active developer community made it an easy choice. The standard HTC software is good but if you don't like it you're free to root your phone and change it. The total cost of ownership for the Desire is less than half that of an iPhone 4 on contract. It's not as polished as the iPhone, but the Desire is considerably more versatile. Youtube, iPlayer, TV catchup etc all works fine. 500MB is a lot until you start watching TV and lots of Youtube without WiFi. There's an app called 3G watchdog that lets you see how much data you have left.
  4. I'm not sure if your problem is related but the one I bought had issues -- the centre sleeve was 0.3mm too long. Tarty sorted it out no problem.
  5. +1... Google maps nav is brilliant. You can get into your car, Google the postcode of the place you're going to and then hit navigate to have it to take you there. Use it on my Desire all the time.
  6. Second hand, £650 will buy you a near mint high spec mod... or even a brand new mid spec mod from Tarty! Dont get a blade...
  7. Depending on how much you care about speed camera locations, you might like something that you can update via your PC or that updates automatically over the mobile network. A member of my family is facing his sixth speeding ban and has recently bought a TomTom Live for £140, and pays a monthly subscription to keep it bang up to date. A decent, separate camera detector is the best option if you can afford it IMO.
  8. Try using solvents. White spirit seems to work well. edit:beaten
  9. I got bored of pinch flats after a while and started running sensible pressures. If you're getting that many you just need to put some more air in.
  10. There are a few spots along Oxford Road but we haven't really explored that much. When we ride we usually just head up Oxford Rd towards the centre. There's some good riding near the big wheel/Printworks complex. Not had any problems with police yet. I went past a decent group of riders on the train once but haven't met many. We usually go out in groups of three or four twice a weekish but I'm back down in Somerset for uni holidays and not back until mid September. Let me know if you decide to take a visit
  11. Saw this on the forum earlier today and now watching the episode on bbc3. Really touched by Courtnay's attitude in light of Danny's death and would recommend everyone giving the programme a look if they don't know their story. All the best to her, her and Danny's baby and the trials park.
  12. +1 for Tensile. My Rockman 72 looks nice but has been skipping since the day I bought it. Skips several times each and every ride. Avoid.
  13. Just bear in mind that you're going to be making lots of mistakes, and your first bike will take a beating. Most people prefer to go with a cheaper, perhaps tougher frame at the beginning but if it's a good deal then by all means go for it
  14. Have heard less than a minute and can tell I'm going to like this. Download link needed! edit: is that some Doctor P right there?
  15. Thought I'd post this here as my Twitter following is pretty minimal to say the least! A client of mine is considering commissioning a promotional video for his business. I know there are a few video guys on here so if anyone thinks they could help or knows someone who does I'd appreciate them getting in touch with me via here/PM or Twitter He is based in Somerset and Dorset.
  16. A lot of small spar type shops have CCTV that covers the area just outside the shop. That way when I'm buying a milkshake after a ride I can stand in the queue staring at my bike. Will definitely do the front chainring trick though from now on...
  17. Loved that! Some massive stuff there.
  18. Going interailing with some mates on Monday. By complete fluke we've arranged it so that we'll be in Amsterdam on my birthday
  19. Nice editing and riding. Really like the tune but Shazam wouldn't tell me what it was. what the track's name?
  20. I'm at University of Manchester and with Salford being one of the 'other' unis in Manchester, it gets pretty bad rep in my circles. I haven't been there much at all but went to a mobile NHS unit that was in the Salford area and it was a pretty grim place. It's always going to be in the shadow of the main city a bit, but don't let a couple of opinions on a forum put you off from at least going there and having a look yourself. Train tickets are really cheap if you have a railcard and book more than a month in advance. And more TF members in the Manchester area can only be a good thing! There's some half decent riding in closer to the centre of Manchester though and there are a few people about who I ride with regularly when I'm up there. I don't know what you're studying and what grades you're expecting, but I'd generally favour inner city unis like Leeds, Manchester etc over out of town ones. EDIT Despite the UCAS system, unis do whatever they want at the end of the day. I got a conditional from Birmingham but got a letter from them in May (Yes May!!!!) saying they couldn't run my course and offered me a place on a different course. They wouldn't even tell me why! I wouldn't worry about Leeds not responding, though confirming receipt of your application with admissions wouldn't go amiss.
  21. Guessing I'll get shot down if I start the same thread for Android? Can't think of many that haven't already been mentioned... and I don't use my iPod much since I got my phone. Wi-finder - for scanning wireless APs BMW M Sport G meter (or something like that) - 0-60 times, quarter mile time, lateral G etc.
  22. 32MB... there's your problem. A GTX285 (or any decent card) will run many monitors absolutely no problems. But if we're talking low to mid range cards, then put your primary display on a separate card. I know it's down to preference, but wouldn't you rather have one or two nice screens rather than several smaller, lower quality ones?
