  1. RE: Compressor for Final Cut Studio 2 Does anyone here know of a way to make it so that the progress bar has a continual percentage counter, rather than the one it's using on mine currently which simply updates the % every 5 seconds?
  2. Doesn't have to be expensive mate, 1 GB of RAM will make a noticeable difference to performance and if you get it here, then it's cheap as chips too. You might even considor going up to 2GB..! I have 4 in my iMac and the thing runs faster than a fat bitch chasing a pie truck.
  3. On a Statham related note, has anyone seen 'The Bank Job' yet? I'm really looking forward to going, it seems very Oceans Eleven -come- Snatch, which is not a bad combination in my mind.
  4. Is Statham low on cash at the moment?

    I Am Legend

EXACTLY!!! There is so many of those little continuity errors that I have spotted over the *cough* three *cough* times I've watched that film! I suppose you just have to suspend your dis-belief and enjoy it for the cute doggy woggy or something.

    Alternative ending = Mint
  7. Yeah that camera uses Firewire that plugs into your FireWire (1394) port on your comp. The input on the pc will more than likely be 6 pin, and the cam output 4 pin. So you need one of these.. Alternatively, you could use the S-Video or composite outputs, assuming you know what these are. Firewire is less hassle and better quality aswell, so stick with that mate and you will be flying. J
  8. Haha, I was gonne wait and see if anyone else offered too. I don't know why but I feel a bit dubious about it. I'l have to do it in the week aswell becuase I'm at home atm and my iMac is by my bed at uni. I'l let you know how it goes man.
  9. Hey, I realise this isn't a problem, but I came across this on the Apple website and I think it's bloody awesome! It's an application that uses a night vision camera thingy on your iSight camera and it records your sleep patterns etc.. Here James

    Earthquake

The ceilings in all the rooms in my flat have cracked! Was frickin cool though. Is it weird that I wish it had been for longer and worse?!?
  11. You could run it through Windows movie maker mate, that's a kind of very basic way to retain some quality and compress it quite a bit.
  12. You bitch, I inadvertantly/drunkenly read your spoiler, and having not seen last nights episode, have ruined it for myself! Ah well. Que Sera, Sera. J
  13. Varsity bars on Thursdays; £1-a-pint. Enough said!
  14. Try here... Or here... Hope one of these helps. I only skim-read them, but they seemed to be pointing the chap in a similar direction to where you need to go. James
  15. Ah right, I've found a few websites that weigh up the pro's and con's of using either native HDV or AIC. It seems AIC is the preferred choice. So if anyone's still interested, would you say that the firewire 800 connection would be noticeably faster than the usb 2.0?
  16. Ok, has anyone experienced this with a Mac system?
  17. Hey, Im buying an iMac and basically the question I am wondering about is; if I keep a 750GB Lacie plugged in to the Mac all the time, will it allow me to set that Lacie as the destination drive onto which I can directly capture and store HDV footage in FCP6 or does it need to be an internal drive like Premiere. I am wondering this as I've been using the RAID drive at uni and I like the idea of having a drive that wont fill up too quickly but leaves all the internal drive space free on the computer. If the answer is no, doers anyone have any suggestions such as software that will allow me to do this. Thanks, James
  18. How can you claim thats utter rubbish? The tape mechanism on a mini DV cam is very fragile, and as this topic proves, can be temperamental. You're not the only one who works with cameras Jonny.
  19. Awful awful spelling and grammer there mate. But yes, you are correct, it should go down. I don't mean to sound condescending here but you are putting the tape it the right way round yes? If so then check for loose bits on the tape, or dis-lodged or irregular looking parts inside the tape slot. Other than that, it could just be broken. Mini DV cams have a habit of being fragile and irritatingly temperamental.
  20. Cheers boys. I agree, it is sad when you see big companies shitting on the little guys. We're going to fight em with every ounce of strength we have however!
