  1. That's a big boy moving around....nice vid...but agreed, intro was too long and it kept cutting in the middle/near the end of a line to the next clip.
  2. Dude is pretty smooth....I hated the video, but enjoyed his riding....
  3. Cannondale gets another nod and thumbs up from me. I still want a Volvo trials frame. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151902241101843&set=a.98198306842.90991.88041336842&type=1&relevant_count=1

  5. Sidehop records don't really count unless you went straight to rear. Getting the front wheel on first and leveraging the bike up, no matter how miniscule means you weren't able to get up it straight to rear, which means the lowest part of your bike didn't make it to whatever height you say your record is.
  6. Why does the blog page no longer exist?
  7. The funny thing about those replies though is those guys are predominantly trials riders, they aren't equally as skilled in the other discipline. Youtube some of Sagan's stuff, for a roadie he's got some ridiculous skills. As for the # of road riders thing, you're WAAAAAAYYYY off base. By sheer amount of road riders, there are way more roadies who ride other disciplines. Like 75%+ of them cross train on mountain bikes and XC races. That equates to A LOT of riders. You can see this just by going into a bike shop and asking the roadies if they have mountain bike. I will guarantee you most of them do. How many trials riders are exclusively trials? I would say a substantially larger proportion of riders ride only trials compared to roadies percentage wise.
  8. He's like the equivalent of Gee Atherton or Aaron Gwin are in downhill. The guy is a freak of nature on a road bike and is absolutely crushing everybody. He also has a very unorthodox style and has extremely good handling skills that he uses on a road bike to his advantage. He's no Ashton on a road bike as far as handling goes, no doubt about that, but he is the next best thing and could absolutely crush him on a road ride without even breathing. I'm surprised at how many trials riders don't do any other discipline of cycling or keep up with any other genre. It'd be like drinking only one beer for the rest of your life, how boring would that be? It's surprising considering the cycling scene in Europe is so much more prevalent than here in the states too...
  9. Hah, I think it's funny that arw doesn't know who Peter Sagan is.
  10. http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/1gl7tj/i_am_danny_macaskill_a_professional_street_trails/ Word on the street is he can't beat you at a game of BIKE
  11. Not saying I necessarily believe him, but my friend who BMX's ridiculously good could do that his first try on my Inspired. Ask him to do the same on a rock or anything that's not flat though was a different story.
  12. No example????????? Reallllllyyy???????????? http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/181179-couple-clips-from-damon-watson/page-3#entry2502275 Which is: -------------- So you're saying the preload at 14 seconds is a clear large preload?????????????????????????????????????????????????????? 16 seconds? 22 seconds? 45 seconds? 1:08? No. His ass doesn't come anywhere near the tire...and that's in just the first minute of that video. ----------------------- And I think I said in like 3 other posts that within the very first minute there were 5 examples to reiterate that point which you even quoted in one of your replies. LOL, now I understand why you couldn't comprehend anything, you weren't reading anything, you were just hitting that quote button to argue. Makes sense.
  13. Boom! From his own mouth that he doesn't pre-load nearly as much as other riders. I like how MikeCott completely disregarded the fact that I clearly pointed out examples yet he insists he right. But ghostrider88 is right, I don't give a crap about your opinion, I just enjoyed seeing what you had to reply back with was completely "whatever, I'm right" eighth grade mentality. It's a forum...I'm speaking on it. P.S. Jo, your vid that I posted is one of my favorite vids of all time. Good riding, edit, and a style I enjoy watching.
  14. You can preload and cause your tire to compress, it's called low air pressure. I can cause my tire to completely compress from just pedaling. Tire compressing doesn't indicate anything other than a shift in weight and momentum that overcomes the air pressure in the tire. I was pointing out the fact that he said "there's a clear LARGE preload...practically a full squat" and I pointed out 5 moves in the first minute of the video where he CLEARLY didn't have a large preload. And now I'm replied with "him going all the way down is irrelevant" when that was CLEARLY your argument of him doing a full squat. Classic foot-in-mouth-in-ass. And people wonder how threads like this keep going, lol. And dngr2self, re-read, I just did and I think I may have had it in a weird order because of the replies I was making...it doesn't take "only technique" to get you massive, which is why I pointed out that Cherushnov video. Guy is horribly unsmooth and just tossed himself at things. That's not technique, that's muscling around with a bike under you. He will only get so far before he just starts breaking shit uncontrollably (if that's already not happening) before he needs to improve his technique to be smoother and make things last. I then proceeded to say that also/conversely, technique will also only take you so far, as now all the pros have been hiring trainers to build muscle so that they can start doing the same thing Cherushnov guy is doing, albeit with quite a bit more finesse. It's a game of balancing the two. You'll reach a point/plateau with either of them singularly before you need to start exploring the other side. Look at Aurlien Fontenoy, he already could go HUGE. He got a trainer to specifically increase his numbers, now he has vids on facebook of the absolutely MASSIVE gaps. I doubt those gains could have been realized in that short of a time without a trainer making him gain muscle mass. AND THAT'S THE POINT I WAS MAKING WITH DAMON WATSON. The guy has massive power from years of lifting, but has also been riding a bike long enough to have technique DIALED. So it's no surprise he can go HUGE. Yes, he was going big back before he became a tank (like Aurlien)....his added strength and mass just exponentially increased his performance. Is that clear enough?
  15. So you're saying the preload at 14 seconds is a clear large preload?????????????????????????????????????????????????????? 16 seconds? 22 seconds? 45 seconds? 1:08? No. His ass doesn't come anywhere near the tire...and that's in just the first minute of that video.
  16. So a full squat means technique? I guess the 3 million other people (Joseph Prattley comes to mind) who have "no preload" but can still sidehop 48 inches have no technique. I know of a couple riders locally who can sidehop 8-9 pallets with almost no preload....preload doesn't define anything. That guy just throws his bike around. https://vimeo.com/53367596 Technique will only get you so far. It will be more efficient than the guy throwing his bike around, but the same goal is achieved, big gaps/ups. It's why all the pro's started getting trainers and going to the gym, to add some muscle behind all that crazy technique they have.
  17. You don't need technique to go big. Anybody who thinks that is sadly mistaken. Those of you who say you need equal amounts of technique with gym time have OBVIOUSLY never been in a gym to see how much gym time will just improve what you have without any of this "refining." A month in the gym without riding then swinging a leg over you'll find you either didn't lose any height/distance or you can actually go farther. Sit around for a month of not riding and DON'T go to the gym, you'll be disappointed with how you're riding results turned out. Anyways, to the video of no technique, massive power. Check this guy out. Worst technique ever but he's just a f**king muscle robot snatching a bike around: https://vimeo.com/47463194 Damon lifts a lot and just happens to ride a bike a lot too. He goes big AND has good technique for what he does (because he rides a bike a lot). What's so damn hard to understand about that? Lotsa haters I suppose.
  18. If you don't want to read the eMail, skip to the bottom of the post for the video. Somehow I'm on their mailing list and got a pdf it said: --------------------------------------- PRESS RELEASE 1 3/002 MILKYWAY PRESENTS THE VIDEO REPORT OF 19 th MILKYWAY AFTERNOON IN MILANO Modena – February, 8 th 2013 AFTER THE GREAT SUCCESS OF THE 19TH MILKYWAY AFTERNOON IN MILAN, A STUNNING VIDEO AND A BLASTING PREVIEW… On December, 23 d a biketrials gathering has took place in the city which counts the highest concentration of Italian biketrials riders: Milan. It was the 19 th MilkyWay Afternoon, and more than 30 riders came along from Milan and surroundings to take part in a community ride in the name of MilkyWay and of the sport of biketrials. Special guests of the event was Paolo “Pool” Patrizi with a brand new Echo-MilkyWay Factory Racing bike which seemed to fit him perfectly and will lead him to great results in the 2013 season. The other MilkyWay Factory Racing Team Alessandro Allegretti was not participating this time, but you will see him soon in other occasions. The session has been filmed by the biketrials specialist video maker Andrea Mentesana and we have now a cool video to show up, reporting all the main tricks of the day: http://www.youtube.com/user/ProjectMilkyWay. This video also announces the launch of an innovative online community dedicated to biketrials (and to all extreme sports in general): the MilkyWay Tribe which will be released by MilkyWay by the end of the February after more than 6 months of design and development. This innovative website will help all riders to find new spots and new mates to ride with, as well as to decide where to ride when moving, or to plan some action sports holidays. The aim of the MilkyWay Tribe is to sustain and enhance a real-life-experience of action sports. We designed super-useful functionalities such as a personal profile page with all relevant info about yourself as a rider, the possibility to upload spots and to share them worldwide, the possibility of organizing rides and to put on sale your used gear. All of this with an incredibly user-friendly interface! The MilkyWay Tribe provides either rookies or pro-riders with the opportunity to learn and share all the relevant info about their sports in the fastest and most accessible way. This is achieved by giving a horizontal access to all already existing online communities such as: local forums, blogs, personal pages, videos, pictures and social profiles from one only access point which is the Tribe. It’s not a competitor to all other online entities dedicated to biketrials (shops, forums, communities, …) but really an aggregation service which will be useful to everyone! All of this is a side project of the growing www.milkywaybikes.com website, where you can find a good choice of Biketrials components and a custom service for all what’s related to biketrials. 19. lol @ typical people who don't read the thread or hate on it because they don't understand it or are willing to try anything new. There's people that said they have ridden it, yet people are still wondering how it's gonna be laced or how it's going to even work.
  20. Vimeo so you on't have to visit pinkbike. https://vimeo.com/58171679#at=0
  21. But see, that's the thing...nobody wants to go through the hassle of relacing a rim just for a "better looking one." And these people that do, usually didn't pay for the rims to begin with.
  22. What I'm curious on is all the people who have taco'd rims, how many have you taco'd? How old was the rim? Was it even built well? The reason I ask is there seems to be a ton of people saying "if I taco the rim..." as the main arguing point yet, I doubt many people taco rims at a pace to where it can even be a valid enough point. When I rode 3-4 hours a day, 6-7 days a week, and did comps, I rode a DX32 with extremely harsh grinding every other week for a little over a year before I started getting flat spots from the sidewalls getting too thin and the rm coming out of true as a result of it being weak. So those of you who can run rims longer than a year (especially if you compete), your riding should be fine/smooth enough to where you don't destroy a rim with the coating if you're concerned about taco'ing it. I've seen what a well built crappy rim can take. You can build up a crappy cruiser single wall rim and with a good builder it can take quite a bit of abuse under a hack rider. So the guys who taco rims regularly may want to look in finding another wheelbuilder or keeping up on that maintenance like stated by somebody in this thread. Here's a crappy clip of a botched warm-up gap. I say warm-up gap because it was a gap I did after riding for 5 hours, eating, and then a 2 hour drive home. I was beyond stiffened up and tired. It was the first thing (and next to last) thing I did before I put the bike back on the rack to head home and drink beer. I saw some friends at a light and they asked me to do a gap for their friend whose never seen trials. You can hear when I hit the curb. I guarantee you if that was a multi-ground rim, the wheel probably would have been knocked out of true or possibly flat spotted or at the very least dented the sidewall. The rim is true and straight with no dents and the coating is fine. http://youtu.be/ravTnd_jPBE I know that's not really too much of a testament to how the rim performs per say, but it sort of gives you an idea. FWIW, the coating is still good as new after over 40 hours of riding with TNN greens from me personally and nearing (possibly over? I say this cause he rides over twice as much as I do, especially after the coating because he's experimenting with different pads) 100 hours at a pro-comp-level from the guy who coats the rims. If you're willing to spend the money, it works.
