  1. Well I gave it a bleed and thats sorted the lever travel problem and they feel slightly better but still don't work whatsoever. Tomorrow I shall be properly cleaning up the pads and disc and trying again, if that doesn't work it'll be new disc and pads time!
  2. Now that sounds like a good suggestion!
  3. I'm currently in the picking up new skills zone in terms of out of nowhere I can suddenly approach a 3-3½ft and jump up straight to rear wheel and keep the front up. After trying to half pedal into stuff for years I had a few goes at just manualing into a jump and flew up something. It's amazing how out of nowhere something suddenly clicks in your head and you realise exactly how your doing something.
  4. May just need the cones tightening but I don't know how to do it as I've always run sealed hubs.
  5. Aye think I'll give it a bleed and then probably stick it on ebay an get a proper mono trial!
  6. I've posted the other day bout my hope mono mini having no stopping power whatsoever so tonight I brought it in to work so I could burn the pads and hopefully decontaminate them. I whipped the caliper off, removed the pads and gave them a burn off (via a hot ring on an electric cooker) and thought while the pads were out I'd give the pistons a quick squirt with wd40 to make sure they were both moving freely. Did that, cleaned them off and let the pads cool then proceeded to put the brake back together and now it's worse than ever! When I pull the lever now it just pulls straight back to the bar and does nothing at all, I pumped it a few times to get the pads aligned back up but once they've moved in a bit the lever still pulls all the way in and does nowt! There's no sign of any fluid having leaked out of anywhere so I'm stumped! The only thing I can spot is on the actual piston itself the inner ring sits slightly proud of the outer edge of the piston but I don't know if this is normal on mini's or not. Any ideas or should I just try an bleed it tomorrow when I get up??
  7. Yup that sounds about right, see what r n r say tomorrow. If they're any good they should try and help you put it right seen as its them who advised you to buy that setup. If you do manage to blag a refund may I suggest either the Echo TR ISIS bb or the Tryall one, got one of each myself an they're spot on, especially the tryall as the bearings are replaceable as are the cups that hold it in (in case you butcher the teeth fitting it like I did!)
  8. Sounds like the seals on the piston are buggered, you may need a new lever!
  9. Bit of a bugger, wouldn't have been so bad if they'd only charged for the headset fitting and chucked them all in!
  10. It'll usually take a good few coats of paint stripper on a good painted frame, just stick loads on an leave it to work for a while. Doesn't hurt to clean the stripper off with a wire brush either.
  11. Did they put the spacers on for free??
  12. Yeah was thinking if you had a centred one then getting an offset one would cure it but obviously not if thats what you've already got. One last question for you, sorry to be a pain but this is really annoying me an wanna get it sorted for you, I know how pissed off I'd be if it were me! What is the width of the bottom bracket shell? It sounds like a different bottom bracket may be the cure, if the shell is 68mm then you're best finding a 68mm BB rather than a 73mm with a spacer and maybe running a 122.5mm length axle instead of 128mm. If you really want the best advice I'd ring up tartybikes in the morning and tell them your spec, they should be able to tell you what will work and then get hold of rock and roll bikes and tell them the setup they advised doesn't work and try and get a refund on the BB
  13. Don't know what to say really as getting a new BB is a big spend, especially if that doesn't solve the problem and I'm assuming the rear sprocket is set to one side on the thread not centred like this http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/images/sprockets/large_tascrewon.jpg
  14. You won't get a spacer on those tensiles and still have enough thread for the freewhell I reckon. What rear sprocket you using and what bottom bracket?
  15. I'd still give the freewheel a proper flush out and just make sure the back wheel is nice and in line and the chain isn't too tight or loose. Not much else to go wrong on a single speed setup with no other cogs!
  16. Limey normal or 320?? Although it is pretty bad in champagne gold!
  17. I may have to give these a try also, never liked foam grips as the feel of them makes me shudder but could be worth a try. I've got some bog standard echo rubber grips on my mod which I love, proper classic rubber grip feel and comfy too, so was thinking of getting some for my 26 as my inspired lock ons are a load of wank but may try some foams first!
  18. How long have you had the hub for?? If you strip the wheel down and send it off to hope they'll fix it for you if not give you a brand new one free of charge usually!
  19. That is harsh, how long you had it for? Will you be able to get it replaced by onza?

    New Hs33 Brake

I assume we'll still be able to buy just the levers so that if either of my 05's snap I could get a new lever and just use my standard calipers? And how much are we looking at, same price as the current ones?
  21. We could have a winner! The first thing I'd suggest is remove the freewheel and then give it a monster degrease! When they're built they're packed with grease that tends to make the pawls stick and causes it to skip, if you can give it a good flush out with gt85 it should help.
  22. Right, I find myself to be pretty clued up when it comes to computers and stuff but just want to double check as I'm taking my sis in law to get a new laptop tomorrow and don't wanna burn a load of cash she doesn't need to! She's currently got a Dell inspiron, 1.5gb ram, 80 gb HD, Intel processor (not sure how fast) which her and her 2 sisters have all been using for the last 5 years or so and it's basically knackered. Had so much stuff saved, deleted, installed, removed over the years it's about to die completely. Every time I go on it there tends to be messages saying there's under 200mb of hd space left as it's loaded with photo's and her schoolwork files and progs and itunes for her sister. Anyway, she wants something decent but relatively cheap so I've come up with this http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/toshiba-satellite-c650-1cp-06525285-pdt.html. It's gonna be used for her to sort her school stuff on as she's a teacher and for her sister and anyone else really to do any typing, printing, etc. I also think she should get an external hard drive, around 250gb to save all her photo's on and then I'll do a clean install of XP on the old laptop and maybe stick the ram upto 2gb purely for using itunes and browsing the net. Does this sound like a good idea or should I go for a different solution??
  23. Looks good, I'll definately be up for a ride out there sometime!
  24. Chain wrap is how much of the chain is wrapped around the cog but I've noticed your riding a mod so that won't really apply to you, it's moreon stocks which have sprung tensioners. Right, can you upload a pic of your drivetrain to see as that may help a bit more, what type of tensioners do you use, cams, tugs, etc, and what freewheel are you running?
