  1. Yup thats the one I'm thinking of, not sure if it's still going or not?? Used to be a big place in terms of comps and stuff years ago. Found this when I googled it but it doesn't really shed any light on the place! http://www.dirtworld.com/trails/trail.asp?id=13199
  2. Furthest I've gone is to check in at work to see what it was really
  3. Whereabouts is that?? I remember years and years ago a trials section at a place in wales but I've no idea what it was called, was about 10 years ago mind so might not even be open still!!
  4. If you get some post a pic of them fitted as I might get a set myself!
  5. Any chance of having a quick reply setup enabled on the whole board as well as other bike chat??
  6. Rolf Harris version of stairway to heaven on't radio at the moment. Classic!!
  7. Suppose instead of a new products feature you could get away with a long term test, a bit like MBUK do with bikes maybe?? They do currently try and review the odd thing here and there but it's mostly done by people from the European versions of the mag, for instance this month they tested four 24" bikes to see how they faired at a bit of natural in France, one of which was actually the Because 24"! All taken on board cheers Mark, will hopefully have a good few ideas to talk to him about when we meet at this rate. Could even modify the group ride bit slightly by saying something like I invite you boys from tartybikes to meet up at Matlock quarry for example and just basically have a bit of a laugh, get some shots and some mini profiles. Or find, like you said, some of the popular riders and do the same with them, find somewhere relatively local to them all and get 3-4 out for a bit of a ride and a shoot?!
  8. Thanks for the input Mark, this is exactly why I started this thread and your opinion's probably more important than mine as I've only just started riding again after 10 years out whilst trials is your job! Interviewing big name riders is obviously going to be an ideal situation which I'm sure would be possible. Would you think getting hold of people like Rowan and maybe The Clan for an article would be a good starting point and get some interest? As for my idea about getting out on a group ride for some pics and writeups on people who do it for their own enjoyment rather than on a professional level, would that interest you?
  9. Right a very promising update! I've just come off the phone with John the boss at UK Trial mag and he's very keen on really pushing UK trials in the magazine so we're gonna meet up to discuss some ideas about what we could get in there. I've already been told that tribalzine are keen to get involved and give us world reports and the like and John want's to get as much of the UK events in as possible. I'm gonna speak to him more about some of the other stuff thats been suggested when we meet but I'd love to hear from some of the organisers of the national events about sorting some coverage, either from me attending to get some pics and get copies of the results or if they're too far for me or I'm unavailable from themselves providing some to be printed. Please, please get involved if you can and we can really get this thing to take off!
  10. Yeah I used to use koolstops when I first rebuilt my bike (seen as they were the only ones available years ago!) but after trying some HS yellows that got chucked in with a maggie I bought I definately wouldn't go back! And I'd definately recommend a hope trial, bought 2 off here for bout £35 each and they're quality, a lot better than some of the older ones!
  11. Quality, just requested Ambassadors of Funk Feat. MC Mario - Supermarioland on the local radio station! Always finds the proper old dodgy stuff you ask for, love it!!!! Oh yeah, if you were born in 1989 onwards you'll have no idea what I'm on about!
  12. Story of my life, I told the missus I was just gonna get my heavy tools up and running at christmas, now on my 3rd frame with a full built mod as well!! Looking very nice mate, should look awesome with a black front end on as well! As for the rear brake have you tried some heatsink yellows?? I'm running them on the back as I don't wanna ruin my lovely red rims! Could always spray the cnc backings black!!
  13. May be the trainers you ride in not being very good on your pedals
  14. Yes you have to make the chain shorter but you still need to keep it tensioned on the cogs to stop it from slipping, especially when you put power down on the pedals, this is why a rear mech is sprung backwards. A stock chain tensioner is basically a rear mech that sits in a single gear and the springs are generally a lot stronger. Notice here on my heavy tools the chain is quite slack and the tensioner isn't pulling it nearly tight enough so it isn't sitting on enough teeth on the rear cog, it kept slipping on me because of this! And here on my zenith (same setup just new frame really) I had the tensioner set higher up and the chain even shorter to get more wrap around the rear cog. I eventually took even more off the chain and had the tensioner sat almost in line with the rear of the frame but I haven't got a pic, worked perfectly like this though! It is good going straight to a singlespeed hub but if you're just starting out you don't wanna chuck loads of money at your bike straight away, just get your chain shortened for now and when you feel more confident on your bike then I'd definately go for it!
  15. Don't buy an Onza Rip, they have 20" rear wheels as opposed to general standard of 19" rears which means there's no point trying to spend any money on it whatsoever as sooner or later you'll have to buy a new frame and rear wheel anyway!
  16. I run hs yellows on a smooth rim and they're awesome so assume they'd be even better on a grind!
  17. Sorry bout my abrupt answer mate but it did just sound like you were waiting for someone to approve of your choice before you ordered. It's purely down to what the rider likes really, lots of people like the trialtechs but thats probably the geometry of them more than the strength and the price, as for the tensiles I run I just rang tartybikes up and told them what I was after and my budget and they suggested them to me and they did a good job as they feel great! If your after some Echo's then get some, yes they are technically weaker than trialtechs but I personally don't know of any that have broken, and if they're the right shape for you then go for it, don't worry what everyone else thinks!
  18. Right hang on lets start again and make it easy for you The Echo bars are easily the best bars in the world x100. Definately get them and if anyone mentions trialtechs call them a c**t!! That better??
  19. Trialtechs are made of stronger aluminium
  20. Nah, stealthily in a bush. Nowt like the element of surprise!!!
  21. Go for the speedrace, if you can get a build anything like adams from tartybikes then your onto a winner!!
  22. Nope most riders run singlespeed, and most use the same ratio depending on setup. I believe for a 22t front chainring (assuming thats what you've got) you'd be best with an 18t rear cog, you could get a singlespeed kit, which consists of a bunch of spacer rings for the rear cassette, a single 18t cog and a chain tensioner. Or if you're planning on upgrading your rear wheel/hub in the near future I'd hold on and just get a fixed rear hub, new cranks, bashring, front freewheel, rear cog and tensioner then. How tight is your chain at the moment as that could be making the gears slip a bit?!
  23. Not sure how much it has to do with the components but getting sub 10kg with a frame that starts at 2¼kg is quite impressive!
