  1. Could well have been but there was no thunder and it was too close and bright for there to be no noise associated
  2. I wouldn't want to, I have no idea what is getting fitted regarding sockets/switches/wiring on the electric and the window company are absolute garbage. I was a window fitter for 5-6 years and got an NVQ in window and door fabrication so I know how rough these guys are. With the electrics I needed to get the loft cleared and partially boarded out first and sort the minor mouse problem out to make life nicer/easier but f**k that now, he can deal with it when he comes...
  3. Rant incoming!!! f**king in laws messing is doing my head in. New house needs rewiring and bay window replacing. Father in law said he would sort window out which I was fine with so I was planning stuff out for the electrics (switch locations, etc) before ringing a spark to come and have a look when I got told my father in law had sorted it with a local lad who is from a farming family and does electrical contracting. Sorted him coming down and came with him to see what wanted doing expecting it only needed a few sockets changing. He's now dealing with it and I have no idea what the f**k is going on regarding when he's coming, or what he's even doing! After that f**ked me off I said leave the window and I'd sort it as he'd taken over the electrics, got told he'd already arranged a guy to come and look at it (who I don't particularly like as I was a window fabricator for years and I know these guys aren't particularly great when it comes to fitting) so I said fine but I needed him to look at a couple of other windows as well that needed doing and may as well be at the same time. Anyway, long story short the wife has covid so I said come after she'd recovered and measure the lot but he came yesterday to just do the bay, I asked him when he could come and measure the others and he kind if shushed me saying not yet, they don't need doing yet. Turns out the father in law is having them do it so he can run it through the farm and claim the vat back on his tax bill and they just keep saying they're only trying to help. f**king fuming at the whole thing, just want to tell them to do one and keep iut of it but my wife is sympathetic to them and thinks I'm just being grumpy. More the point I've got two contractors coming ripping half the house apart and I have no idea when it's happening or what is planned
  4. Just to be clear, this isn't about bowel issues during plane journeys! Walked in our kitchen last night about 22:00, walked up to the sink and suddenly there was a mad pulse of light outside in the sky that flashed once then disappeared. Didn't get a clear view as the sky was really misty but it made no noise and I went straight outside and couldn't see or hear anything afterwards. Can't have been an aircraft as it was too big and bright and I'm pretty sure I'd have heard it when I went out, could possibly have been a meteor but again seemed extremely big for that and I've been scouring meteor reporting websites and Twitter all morning looking for any info and there's nothing. Really, really weird......
  5. @MadManMikeHow's that affected you? You've got quite a bit of crypto haven't you?
  6. Street bike geo isn't really designed for spending much time hopping on the rear wheel so I'd say everything geo/bar and stem wise is fine

    Films!?

Not watched a Bond film since Tomorrow Never Dies and have zero desire to either. Never appealed to me after that!
  8. Nice, might try and make something similar for my Adamant as the double wheel sprung tensioner currently fitted it just huge and ugly!
  9. I've tried on Duckduckgo and works fine for me as does the links so I don't know what the problem is
  10. Ended up pretty much doing exactly that after we hacked away at as much as we could reach. Got a couple of long garden forks and pushed it over from this side into the field! View is better out the kitchen window now.

    Films!?

Thoroughly enjoyed that, Jason Reitman did a great job and I think it's a fantastic tribute to his father's work and Harold Ramis. The cameos were brilliant too as well as the post credits bits.

    Films!?

I use a mobile dongle on a giff gaff PAYG sim so don't really bother..... If it's any use I use an app called Cinema HD V2 and then ADM if I download something to watch later (obviously only things I already own )

    Films!?

Found a decent copy of Ghostbusters Afterlife finally, currently half way through and happy to see it's so far living up to my expectations. Scarier than I imagined as well!
  14. I wanted a Hello Dave last year but they were out so ended up with a Big Dog instead
  15. Yeah they're definitely asbestos but all seem to be in decent condition. Gonna line the garage with 2x2, insulate with polystyrene boards then plywood on top and will probably do the roof as well so will hopefully be safe then. Eventually will replace the roof/garage altogether but while it's in good condition I'm gonna try and stick with it till funds allow.
  16. @monkeyseemonkeydo it's actually really clean inside considering!
  17. We start rewiring end of January, absolutely bloody dreading it but will be so much better afterwards! Started attacking the garden the other night with the kids. Need to uncover the garage as the wiring on that will be getting sorted and it was just generally out of control. Should have taken a before picture but this is the back of the garage after hacking away at the ivy, it grew out as far as the edge of that pallet and the growth on the roof generally gives an idea of what it was like! Then carried on down the side of the garage and took out a load of conifers, the space we've gained is unbelievable and my plan now is to remove two of the concrete panels (the window on the far left and panel to the left) and fit the door there once the side is fully cleared. Rest of the garden will have to wait a couple of weeks but the shed wants pulling down (before it falls on it's own) and just need to touch up the summer house for my daughter to play in. Plan on fitting a pull-up bar somewhere when it starts to warm up a bit too!
  18. After joining the group on their Facebook page it sounds like a bad batch has gone out as quite a few people had the same problem. At least he didn't get it as a Christmas present or Christmas day would have been terrible
  19. Son ordered a Clicbot (https://keyirobot.com/en-gb) with money he's been saving for over a year, arrived today and bloody thing won't turn on or respond to being plugged in. Pissed off cause my son is absolutely distraught and now we're gonna have to wait days to hear back from them and who knows how long to sort it out.
  20. Been a bit quiet as been really busy but we're all moved in now. Spent the first two weeks sorting stuff that the previous owner left behind, constant runs to the tip and charity shop and going back and forth to the farm clearing rooms out. Done a few minor jobs like changing most of the light fittings to single pendants (almost every room had multi arm lights with halogen bulbs just burning money) but got a lot of work to do. First big job will be a rewire, the dining room has no light fittings whatsoever, the bedrooms have off centre pendants on old multi-strand fabric covered cables (apart from our bedroom which has had the cable pulled out so again no light fittings) and every room has just two single plug sockets in opposite corners. After that it will be repair the two chimneys and strip and replaster the two bedroom walls which are bubbled and crumbling from the leaks. Side mission for me that won't require a tradesmen however will be line/insulate the concrete panel garage, fit a door to the back and get my bikes down here!
