I'll be honest, I've literally just sold my CX bike (about 2hrs ago) and this makes me want another with some bigger volume tyres to get out on some proper trails with! EDIT: Would actually love to see him ride another comp nowadays just to see how he approached stuff and what he would ride. I remember Ali doing one at Matlock when he'd just got his Hex and it was almost mind blowing seeing him attack the same sections people were pogo-ing about on. In fact I'd love a seated class at a comp (probably similar to the retro comp they had at the Biketrial Academy a few weeks ago).

That was a kip up. Maybe don't use your knees and actually pull up on the bar. You're just using momentum to get up and almost zero strength.

Came expecting to be blown away, leaving feeling disappointed. Crank flip I have to admit was tidy but it did feel like a lot of spinning and big drops and not much else. Agree with Matt24 about potential trialsy lines, 2:57 when he's riding down the road with railings either side I thought there was something coming but no he just rode down the street and into some more spins. Granted the Arcade is made for streety stuff but it seems to be almost at a point where it is bmx with trials elements rather than trials with bmx elements? On a random note, does the harshness of when that bike hits the floor go through anyone else, sounds like someone has emptied out the cutlery drawer onto the floor!

Ah the good old Vario, a staple of the trials comps of the late 90's! I remember wanting one of them as well when I first started riding as they were the first proper trials frames (other than the 26" Megamo's) I'd ever seen.

About 2005ish I think and I think there were two models, a long version and a short version. Quick search on here should bring up some info!

Right starting a new thread to to get a bit of interest going. Is there a bike/frame that you wanted but either couldn't afford at the time or couldn't get hold of? I'm talking actual possible purchases and not dream build stuff either! Could just be that the bird is a low bidget model aimed at beginners (I think). Most of the modernish mods I've ridden are really short with high BB. Maybe look for an Echo or similar, even an oldish Zoo Lynx would probably do what you want.

Geo has changed a lot since them days! Whereabouts are you from? Maybe worth seeing if there are any riders local to you so you could meet up and have a go on a few different bikes to see what feels nice. Might end up on something completely different to what you used to ride!

On the lookout for a front brake for my Adamant and happened across these on eBay https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F254025532459 I don't plan on investing but wondered if anyone had seen them or used them before. Research suggests Promax is a bit of a cheap and nasty company for budget bits so I'm not expecting anything amazing but £38 for a new brake isn't bad even as an entry level option!

Anyone know roughly what will/won't work with a D521 due to the narrow profile? And does anyone have a pair of said compatible forks available??

I loved my mk1 Zoot. The geometry was great (for me) and I'd happily have another one. The only thing that needs changing (assuming they're still the same) is the forks as they're steel and weight and absolute tonne. Set of Inspired forks or some Echo Urbans will do the job!

Nah you'll be fine on a 24 mate just a case of working out what feels right regarding stem and bar setup

Bike is filth, red Hope hubs on D521's with matching skewers, road cassette and mech on gripshift, tensile cranks, V12 pedals and sketchy as f**k USE forks. Forks are disc mount however and front wheel isn't so will have to source some suitable replacements and get another magura to match. Or strip it and sell the sellable bits.... Ooorrrr ride it with a rear brake only like a hero
