  2. Most people prefer riser bars. I think they feel much nicer that flat bars as long as they aren't at a stupid angle like tilted right forward or something.
  3. The best thing to do would be to set the brake up better so the pads are closer to the rim. This means there is less distance for the pads to travel so the lever wont pull in so far.
  4. It might not be true but I'm sure I have heard it from someone.
  5. Over time spokes can weaken where they are in contact with the hub. As long as the spokes look in good condition it should be fine. I have done it before and its ok.
  6. I have had one for about a month. It has only skipped twice but thats because my chain was too loose. I haven't had any problems yet so I would say they are one of the best freewheels you can get!
  7. Yeh I think its £92 for the arms and the same again for the levers. Way overpriced. I recently got Shimano Deore arms and avid FR5 levers. So far I'm very pleased with them. They are easy to set up, don't seem to flex too much (my frame does though) and they feel nice and quick too even with clarks cables from Tarty which are relatively cheap compared to some others.
  8. Some people seem to quite like trialtech bars. Seemingly they are like the old style zoo! bars which are meant to be amazing! And Try-All Rage bars feel really good too. I don't have them myself but I have tried other peoples bikes who do have them and they feel really nice! And they look good too
  9. Just to let you know I have heard about the Onza adapters snapping. I'm sure they are ok but some peoples have snapped.
  10. Yes they are. And i think the only ones Tarty have are the mod ones not the ones for stock. If you get the TR hub you will need a freewheel too. I would recommend an Echo SL. I have one on a TR hub and I'm really pleased with it.
  11. If you multiply 1.2 (22 teeth/18 teeth or 18 teeth/15 teeth) by the circumference of the wheel (26 inch wheel-26xPi) you will get 81.681 which means in one turn of the cranks you will travel 81.681 inches. If you multiply 1.5 (18 teeth/12 teeth) by the circumference of the wheel (20 inch wheel-20xPi) you will get 62.832 which means you will travel 62.832 inches in one turn of the cranks. Obviously the size of the tyre etc. could make a difference but it would be so small it wouldn't be noticeable. Also to find the 'Gear Inches' use: (Number of teeth at cranks/Number of teeth at hub) x Wheel diameter = Gear inches Gear inches is different from the distance you travel in one turn of the cranks because it uses the diameter of the wheel instead of the circumference. Sorry this post was wrong before so I edited it. Thanks Luke Rainbird for pointing out I was wrong
  12. Yeh I have the trialtech sport 2 bolt booster too. Its really good and improves the hold of the brake so much!!!
  13. What kind of a grind do you have! I have onza limes on a light grind and they work well in the dry and wet and have been lasting fine. If onza limes are wearing in 7 hours you must be grinding your rim too harsh for those pads. I have heard the rock blues last forever on grinds and smooth.
  14. Yeh that is definitely the best tutorial on how to build wheels. Really detailed but still not too hard to understand.
  15. The only vee cables that tarty sell are made by Carks. They seem quite good to me but more expensive cables probably would be better.
  16. If you want to run a front freewheel you will need new cranks. And if you want to get a new rear freewheel then get a 22 tooth chain ring for your cranks or your kick will be really light.
  17. You could also use a sharp stanley knife to cut the pad so it is almost flat and the sand it till it's perfectly flat. That worked well for me.
  18. www.sheldonbrown.com/tooltips/truing.html ^^ Very good guide on how to true wheels When it says to put the wheel in a truing stand just ignore it. Use the space between the brake pads and the rim to find the buckle. Also you don't have to take the tyre and tube off. Its fine to leave them on.
  19. If you just want to use it to get places something with brakes would probably be better.
  20. Get double vee with good pads and a grind! Much cheaper than discs and will work just as well if not better in the wet cause of the grind
  21. Why did you post this in New Members Chat too ?
