Cambelts arent due till around 80k on vw's as far as i'm aware so no need to worry about that. Just check the history is complete and do the usual checks, look at every pannel for dents/scratches/rust as you'll be able to beat them down on this. Look for a clean engine bay, should be relatively pristine with 70k on the clock. These engines go for 150k + so longetivity isnt an issue. Parts are dead cheap too if you're fairlyu handy with a spanner, just a trip down GSF should see you with most of the bits you need. James

Notice how he didnt deny the drug use haha.

I think if you watch the film a bit more closely and think about it a little more you'll realise the meaning goes a little deeper. It's an excellent film, i think it was really well done.

It's been said that when dave does push ups, he actually pushes the world down. [sarcasm]Gonna have to get me some of them steroids he's on. Proper mint![/sarcasm] James

I take it you drive bendee and have experience in every situation, obviously giving you the right to pass judgement on the exact road they were driving on, in the exact conditions, and at the exact speed they were doing? Not your place I think lad...If you wanted them to learn a lesson for speeding then I suppose you could say they both paid the price. You arrogant willy. Thoughts go out to everyone close to them, such a sad loss. All I can say is I hope the family are ok. Let this be a reminder to us, as others have said, that we cannot predict road conditions even if we've driven down it 1000 times. I crashed my mk1 golf on a road I drove along twice every day for 2 years... James

You just got bad luck. I reckon 1/30 vw's are rusty as far as that, look at another I guarantee it'll be better... If rust is a worry for you mini's are definitely not the way to go as well :|

Please dont run them in the winter They look like they've been polished beautifully so would be a shasme to ruin them! James

Haha that's a coincidence! I've watched your car on e38 with interest your making so much progress! The car looks wicked Thanks James P.s why can't you see them Pinky? There only on photobucket?

Hello one and all... Made a few small changes to the car visually and also had it rolling roaded.. I've now got smoked lights all round and german plates, quite pleased with the overall look now - just needs engine and brakes changed for something special and I'll be done with this car, also need to pay a little attention to a few dings here and there but thats not the top of my priorities. I'd like to thank Jon Street at GSF totton for helping me out with all the FK stuff, and also like to thank the guys at Regal Autosport in southampton, for doing a wicked job on my 1.6 and draining an impressive figure out of her! Drives like a beast now and shocks anyone who's in it when I tell them it's a 1.6 carb engine The Polo you see in the pics is a good friend of mines, super tidy and all the work he's done himself to a really detailed standard. Hope you all like. Anyhow here are the pics: (p.s. I also have crystal red/smoked rears but havent had a chance to photo the car with these yet, the photo's above were taken before we went to ed38, and the graph a few weeks after) Thanks everyone James

Very cool oli, although you have only just rebuilt the head on your car, where as mines got 106k's worth of shit in it... I bet your really pleased with it, time to drive
-
Very cool. Any of you who say you can't tell the difference are being pretty ignorant. Detailing is taking car cleaning to a new level really. For example if you go and look at any car you'll see swirls in the paint (known as cobwebs) a good detailer will get these out and restore the paint to a better than new finish - example a: See the difference? I'm looking to detail my car before I head off to uni and dont have a clue where to start. I am really keen for keeping it clean and wash it once a week at least, but it needs a good polish as it stands. The last time I polished it i used all autoglym products. I started with the restorer, then the super resin polish, then used the high gloss wax. The autoglym seems ok, but certainly hasn't got rid of the swirls. They'll seem less obvious for a bit, but a couple of hundred miles later they'll be back again. Any chance of a link to the products you used brisa? and a quick guide? Your car looks excellent. James

I got mine tuned at regal auto sport in the end. 101.8bhp and 98.3 lbft torque

Not when you're a 'trend whore' All spots must be in fashionable places.

I fitted a Kent GSH2 cam to mine today, gonna get it all tuned up at some point and am hoping to see 100 hp at the fly.... Oli's is looking great, big respect for all the engine work man. You did good.

How are you finding the flatland khe on the back Michael? I ran one for a bit but kept getting flatties and found it too unstable, probably didn't help that I had a flatland tube in as well! Bike looks good though mate, it wasnt me you spoke to on the phone I don't think but cheers for the order anyhow. Hope the bike rides well. James

Hardmans ordered a S3 by the way everyone.

No I just work hard, use my initiative, and worked out how I was going to negotiate my rate of pay before I went to the interview.
-
Your all wrong. I work at halfords and when I went for my interview I wore a suit with a tie. 1) No one took the piss out of me, none of the staff whatsoever. They all pretty much just said I looked smart and said with hind sight they should have worn something equally as smart on the interview. 2) The manager of the store will be very impressed that you have made the effort. Any twat can turn up to an interview in a t shirt and jeans but it shows through if you stand out from the crowd. This will reflect in how well you can negotiate a position/hours/wage as it gives you more credibility. 3) Notice how everyone above has started on the basic halfords wage (on average 4.95 p/h for a p/timer). I negotiated an immediate salery of £5.55 and got exactly the hours I wanted as well as the position. Wear a suit kids. Ignore everyone above as it sounds very much as though they are making it up and talking from no experience what so ever. James

'Hey T-Magura - Chigago's on the phone and they want a word with you?'

Good choice of wheels - 13's for the win.. There's a couple of berg cup gt engines/cylinder heads flying about on german ebay, 170bhp and 10k on the rpm I think that'd give the vtr a run for it's money
