  1. Sorry just noticed I missed this comment, I take it you've watched the Go Fast Pull Up Jimmy Levan documentary? Well worth a watch if you haven't already! I used to ride a Metal Kizz as was a fan of Dan Price
  2. A photo from last night, still loving this and enjoying the whole learning process again
  3. It's certainly a different looking frame, the front triangle reminds me of the Orange Zero. "Touch wood" I haven't had any issues with my TMS Silex V4 24 complete, I wish I made the move back to street trials sooner as loving it.
  4. Sounds like I need to try the SD7 levers. I wasn't aware of the Jitsie pads, I'll try them at some point
  5. I went for the Avid FR-5 levers as was worried about the small dial being easy to break on the SD7. Cool, Odyssey Linear SLS brake cables work very well if you’re planning on foot jam whips. If not, Shimano SP51 outer cables are meant to give a solid feeling brake: https://www.tartybikes.co.uk/disc_brake_spares/shimano_sp51_outer_cable/c110p11637.html?pos=3991&search_params=YTo4OntzOjg6ImluX3N0b2NrIjtpOjA7czoxMjoiY2F0ZWdvcnlfaWRzIjthOjE6e2k6MDtzOjM6IjU5NyI7fXM6MTY6ImNhdGVnb3J5X3JlY3Vyc2UiO2I6MTtzOjg6ImtleXdvcmRzIjtzOjA6IiI7czo5OiJicmFuZF9pZHMiO047czo0OiJtb2RlIjtzOjM6ImFsbCI7czo0OiJzb3J0IjtzOjk6InByaWNlX2FzYyI7czoxMDoiY291bnRyeV9pZCI7czoxOiIxIjt9 TMS is a French brand available through FXN, the Silex is steel, I’ve always loved the feel of steel frames coming from a bmx background:
  6. Rotor size to an extent is personal preference, I went for 180mm as that’s what I was advised to get. It’s a TMS Silex 24 I’m riding. This is the organic pads: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/192691578886
  7. Welcome back I recently did the same myself and loving it! The bike looks very nice, all depends on your budget, I went for an Avid BB7 with organic pads and it's been great for me. Other member may recommend Hope, Magura's or Hayes, you might be lucky in the sales section.
  8. I'm planning to head to this years event on June 11th which will be my first ever comp. Can you camp onsite or can anyone recommend accommodation nearby? I will be travelling down from Aberdeen so would prefer to travel down the day before the event. I will be using my TMS Silex 24 street trials bike, if I enjoy the experience, I'll look into a dedicated comp bike for next year
  9. Looking good so far, those bottom bracket cups look very nicely machined. Do you know the geo of the frame? I looked at these frames years ago.
  10. BTCC is where it's at
  11. Out of interest, have you tried reducing the amount of headset spacers? That's what I did to my Silex 24, running 10mm instead of 20mm which feels good to me:
  12. Thanks, I'm finding it a fun bike to ride. Is Goldrush a member on here? I could still be tempted to build one so I have a 24" & a mod
  13. Wish I could've made this, looked a good event from the photos I've seen but I've simply too much on at home just now. Hopefully meet some of you at Round 3 at Bob's all being well. My fitness should hopefully be at a better level by then
  14. I’m really enjoying getting back into street trials after about 15 years away from it. I’ve always had a love for the feel of steel frames so I went for the TMS Silex 24 thanks to Shaun from FXN for supplying it to me through the cycle scheme. I selected the brakeless version as I had already started collecting a few parts as I was originally planning to get an Alias 20.2 but couldn't get my hands on one. Standard spec apart from the following: Avid BB7 180mm disc brakes front and rear with organic pads Avid FR-5 brake levers Tartanium rotor bolts Hope headset Odyssey linear SLS bmx brake cables Terrible One Joe Rich bmx grips Animal Luv bmx pivotal seat BSD bmx pivotal seat post Brick Cap valve caps Nukeproof Neutron EVO flat pedals
  15. Nice, not so keen on the seat but each your own
  16. Very nice, this was a frame a really wanted, nice to see it built with what looks a 19" rear wheel, most I've seen are 20/20"
  17. Yeah I love the look and feel of steel frames & forks, that's why I've gone for a TMS Silex 24" to get me back into trials
  18. So nice, was always a dream bike of mine, I was always tempted by the 24" but never got one.
  19. I'm also interested in this as I would like to make a few movable obstacles in my back garden.
  20. Sorry to hear about the wrist, heal up soon, take care
  21. My bike hasn't arrived yet but for the front brake cable, I've ordered one of these velcro straps instead of using a ziptie: https://www.sourcebmx.com/products/wethepeople-cable-holder-strap?variant=20033441366127&utm_source=google&utm_medium=ppc&utm_campaign=UK+-+Shopping+(UK)&utm_content=Wethepeople+Cable+Holder+Strap&gclid=CjwKCAiAv9ucBhBXEiwA6N8nYKYA8rHm82ZrCsxbaQC8XepXurEGbyW7JkgOxfG10OXZNyglvOhtNBoCL9wQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&currency=gbp
  22. Nice to see another TMS in the group and another lover of steel frames!
  23. Nice to see more riders from Aberdeen. I'm just away to get back into trials, just waiting for my bike to arrive and will be looking for folk to ride with
  24. I've been chatting to my brother-in-law about Rox and he said they've started up again! Stoked! https://www.bike-ninja.co.uk/rox/?fbclid=IwAR3raVRdIjTfARt-no91CLF-mo8o6xbubJ2Y0i2PHCDHVStwcSH25I-TVwY
