you could, it would mean less engagement though im not sure which would do the freewheeling though, i think it depends on which is easier to turn.

you would need a big master piston. thinking about it i think the disc would lock up before the magura though.

vee is a good shout, they're quiet, plus heatsink have just braught out some really strong vee adapters!

I'm now running a vee on the rear, they lack bite (which you soon get used to) but the hold is amazing, dont slate.
