  1. Hmm, I'm self taught too, but have done hundreds of sites haha. Basically you need to look at how it's coded, it won't work with styles disabled (major accessibility flaw). Also, it's no longer valid (I'd recommend using a Strict DOCTYPE to make sure the validator picks up all poor code). At least it doesn't use tables though! Read this that I wrote: http://csswizardry.com/web-design+/ It may help.
  2. Unfortunately it has loads of mistakes. And you'll be lucky to keep it working in all browsers (actually, it doesn't work in all browsers if you count mobile devices).
  3. This will go nowhere, trust me. If they were likely to build it, it would have been done already. They obviously aren't willing to spend so much money on a still very niche sport. Take it from someone who's tried to get a skatepark built before, unless they build it straight away, it's unlikely to happen. And pestering them will just piss them off, you think when this guy gets a hundred emails saying 'A dood sez u can bild us a trialz parkk i want 1 an ma mate damo duz 2' he's gonna be thinking 'Hmm, these chaps have a point'? Nope it's just gonna piss him off. Sorry to rain on your parade but think about it… they're not interested.
  4. Nope, he covered that with 'American'.
  5. That 6th one is about 30 seconds from my house in Leeds. Massive!
  6. A twenty foot Czar?! Looks sweet, how's it ride?
  7. Yeah it's just where to ride on my own that's the problem. Uni is a cool ride but a) other end of town to me and not a place I'd ride on my own (being at skill level I am, I'd not want any attention just one me haha). Will keep an eye for other riders though.
  8. Well, that went fooking well. Chavs, motherf**king chavs! I've currently got the trials bug so I went out for a ride on my own and explored a few new places around my neighbourhood. Turns out there's a skatepark just round the corner from me. An outdoor skatepark in the dead centre of Leeds which I knew nothing about. It was totally empty so I started to warm up and had a quick go on some steel benches when I hear a screetching car. At first I thought someone had run of the road in an accident/crash but I wheeled round and saw two topless (male ) chavs in a clearly stolen car flying toward me across the grass, with about 12-15 of the f**kers on foot behind em. Now, I'm not a scared person, I don't do scared, but I had my bike on me, and if those tw@s stole a car tonight they wouldn't think twice about stealing a trials bike. I had to make a slow but dignified exit, but what pisses me off is a) they stole someone's car. I hate theft, it's wrong, it's low. they spoiled my ride, I was looking forward to a little evening session on my own in the nice weather. No go now. But c) the only time I made the right decision and left, it made me feel like such a little bitch. I hate it soooo much. It gets right under my skin. Rant: done.
  9. Looks like Helvetica.
  10. Hmm, I've ridden uni a couple of times but I don't think I'm good enough to want to ride in areas like the granite ledges purely because half the suits that walk around will be expecting Danny Mac style stuff. 'Can you do what that guy does in the email someone sent me?' I'm thinking quieter spots if there are any? Clarence Dock is okay (about two mins from my house) but you get kicked off far too quickly. I don't mind getting moved on if I'm with some other riders, it's just the shame of one-on-one with a copper haha.
  11. Dunno if there are many Leeds based guys on here, but where's good for someone of limited ability to ride on their own in Leeds centre, like for an hour on an evening now and again. Preferably not in the shopping/pedestrian area. Cheers, Harry
  12. Much nicer. Can you put more bleed on the bottom so the left col isn't as close to the edge? And then set the leading so that the left and right columns follow the same baseline, and also finish at the same height? The fact that the left col of text is longer unbalances the texts. Also, there are capitalisation inconsistencies in the services list: you have logos without a capital 'L'. EDIT: Baseline like this:
  13. Tracking is far too tight in the body copy. For the headings it'll work but not for the body text.
  14. Woah you're not going to help yourself/your cause by putting his email address in the public domain and asking random people to email him. If I were you I'd get this deleted. Would you be more likely to do something if dozens of strangers started emailing you saying what a great idea it is?
  15. Definitely Avast. It picked up thirty viruses that Norton missed when I installed it. It's totally free and has always on scanning and web content scanning (if you head to a site that might give you a virus, Avast pops up and stops the connection until you decide whether you want to visit it) and it also has multiple (free) updates a day.
  16. That is gorgeous! Wish I'd spied that. Reminds me of a Zona Zip too:
  17. Nope, that's opinion, and opinion based on reality. It's a purely valid opinion because he can base it on arguable points. Was thinking also, the Bible right, it's full of miraculous and almost magical stuff. Burning bush, that guy whose bird turned to salt (or something like that), fish and chips twice that fed 5000 people, Jesus coming back from the dead, woman who got up the duff but never had sex etc etc. You believe all that yet it's never happened in real life, I mean come on, think about it. That stuff just doesn't happen! No one has ever seen that stuff happen, because it can't. Why do you believe in it all then?!
  18. Whacking a full stop on the end of each sentence would be a start. I got validated within a few posts. I hadn't posted any pics of me riding or anything of that nature, just typed properly and was polite.
  19. Oh yeah it takes a while, but if it's gonna be a long term thing then it's the wage up until Christmas and then at Christmas wham, tips everywhere! And use the time up until Christmas to become known too, friendly, say hi etc. And yeah the cards were pound shop style, dirt cheap but the thought was there. He got loads tips, jammy sod. Do you have any interests? It's always best to get a job in a field of interest if you can. When I was 14-15 I started working at a print/design place, then got into design, then into the web, and in the space of three/four years I got a job as a web developer at an award winning agency. That first job might be more important than you think. Good luck dude.

  21. Do a paper round and at Christmas post a cheap card with every paper then watch the tips come flooding in! My mate did it and made a mint every Christmas!
  22. I think that if that's what you chose to believe then you should stick to it. Don't chop and change. Either believe all the Bible and its nonsense teachings, or don't believe it. There's a difference between questioning and selectively believing. I think that was the point that was trying to be made.
  23. My argument has been proved wrong, which I accepted, I then proceeded to ask a question to learn the truth. That's the cornerstone of scientific progression. Christians are blindly following anything and refusing to question things. Questioning and learning is what separates religion from normality IMO.
  24. Oh wow, that I didn't know. So technically all these storybooks are linked to one main, made up mister?
