happy days huh! Back in the dayz! Several lad i used to ride with had the old yellow hawyes giant's they were awesome! Pashleys were so lovely i properly fell in love with them! I would love so much to have an old school bike. But im gettin a 24 so as to put some fun into my riding! Power pro cranks! Were so cool at the time! Fluro maguras. I had a pair of them on my azonic ds 1 evolution wish i still had em! Rob warner cage pedals! I nearly forgot them! Cnc shorty stems! El gato tires, mavic cd rims, hope mono hubs i still have one of them! Tioga factory dh tires! So many happy memories of long summer days riding with the boys, no pressure, no taking things serious, being stoked to do 1 side hop or a track stand for 30 seconds back when i were a lad! Lol BRING BACK THOSE DAYS, WHO'S WITH ME?!

yeah that was what i ment dude. I have an internal on my gt hardtail and a external on my saracen and i cant tell much difference just the gt looks neater!

I absolutly agree gary curtis is a good bloke my mate had a custom curtis built for him and gary bent over backwards for him! Like after he had the frame for about 2 years gary contacted him and asked him to send the frame back which he did then got his frame back with a new coat of paint and new stickers for bugger all! He is spot on. Marino uses hi tensile steel its not the lightest but a 24 will come in at about 2.4 kg only 300 grams more than an inspired so its not too bad. But the choice is down to you buddy.

Im in the process of ordering a custom marino 24" trials rig and i want to know the pros and cons of each type of headset. Thanks guys. Also can anyone reccomend a good bmx rear hub? Not profile or chris king as they are way out of my price range!

The curtis will be very expensive! Its also very difficult to get pukka trials geo with suspension. But it might be worth looking into a marino custom frame, he is a good guy totally up for anything you wanna try. His frames cost 120US$ bout 78 quid! His work gettin alot of fans on this forum. So he might be worth a look

What happened to the woodstock that you were buying from wes? If your going to be riding soley urban dont buy a mod. A short wheelbase stock would be better. Or 24" is imo the best option.

I have the giro semi mx, i dont know if you can still buy them but there super comfy, mega light and the got good coverage around the back like a pisspot lid and its one of the only lids that i can get over my mop of hair without lookin stupid too!

Have you tried upgrading the size of your rotor. Maybe go from 160mm which most mod riders use, (im assuming thats what your using.) maybe go up to 180mm give you some more leverage.

Also whats the weight like?

So what are marino's like to ride? From what luke has said that they ride similar to pashley's of old! What are other peoples experiences?

As ali c said bigger discs give more leverage, 160mm is a wee bit too small for stock/24 but is fine for mods, 180mm seems to be the choice of most riders. 203mm gives good leverage but maybe a bit too much unless your a heavy rider. Hayes are now producing a whopping 220 rotor kit now!

They do look awesome the inspireds im starting to agree with wes a bit now im really not sure the brown ones, but your one does look nice, put the forks on properly though! a beefier set of pedals might be an idea though as cage pedals dont last long

Ah welcome to the world of 24s! The inspired are very popular so much so that they are sold out till august! Yeah leeson still make 24" frames. The ashton and 24uk have the same geo and would ride very similar. Im in the process of sorting out my geo and styling on a marino custom. They are quite cheap to buy and for the cash seem good value. (were talkin sub £150 for a custom frame plus shipping.)

The avid bb7 brakes are very on or off they dont have a great amount of feel at the lever. I personally have had problems with hope brakes and i wont use em again. But might i suggest the hayes hfx 9 i have had one for 6 years now and never had a problem with it i had that on my mongoose ritual and i beat shit out of that and it was fine. Also i know everyone slates them as xc brakes but shimano are really good i have one on my gt and its still runnin good with only one set of pads and one bleed in 7 years. The juicy brakes are really good too wont go wrong with then either. Personally i prefer hydraulic brakes every time. They require so much less effort to pull at the lever and also think they provide more modulation aswell.

I will have to hurry up and email him as it sounds like you and luke are nearly ready. But i may have to do this tomorrow. Whats he like to deal with? Im still goin through ideas sketching them out to see what they look like and if it will work.

Well after a lot of pm's from Ross and Luke (thanks guys!) i have decide to go with ET geometry it sounds like it will suit my riding style better than prehaps the inspired geo. Thanks

I need a wee bit of help on geometry. Im not quite sure i have not ridden a 24" trials bike and i dont know anyone who has one. So i would like some opinions please as i dont want to spec a frame then when i get it the thing ride absolutly rank! Thanks guys

As its been said that hub spacing will be fine. But yeah 1060 is too long. Between 1040 and 1050 would be better. Rear disc brakes will be fine mate plenty of riders use rear discs as for pedal grinds alot of mtb street riders use rear discs and have no problems. Im plannin to do the same with my marino.

they were pretty much! Except the megamos montys and Brisas. That was what i loved about it, the simplicity! After a ride you can just put up your seat and ride home! Didnt cost the earth like it does now!
