  1. I think thats the best option, lets see what happens here, Try fiddling with some of the settings when you play though, dont just install it and see what happens. As I said earlier my laptop is really old and crap and I play alot of modern games on there. So I can see where your coming from on the NFS front pfoster23681
  2. No no not at all, You made a good point, It is easily done, I've ruined a decent CPU before due to static, I didn't think it was possible either but trust me it is. Only time I've never had a GFX card to work was due to that, just my two cents.
  3. To be honest you've probably caused static damage to your MotherBoard or CPU or something. Was you wearing anti-static wristband? Is it POSTing ok? (Power On Self Test) What are you getting when you turn the system on? Pics?
  4. Well firstly I was Overclocking my system to drain every ounce of performance out of it that I could, I was running an E7300 at 4.2GHz because I was water cooling it, 4GB ram at 1333MHz, and my 8800GTX OC2 were clocked aswell as the VRMs on my MoBo. And as for the 'Catching up' and 'Overtaken' comments, Hardwaare has over taken some of the things that devs are throwing out nowadays, not every game will push a system like crysis and crysis isn't at the top of everyones list of games to play so... It doesn't contradict itself at all, I'm saying that modern hardware is up to the task of coping with most of the stuff that gets thrown out these days bar Crysis/Warhead but obviously games like crysis still need catching up to, if that makes sence to you? And I've not been saying that he has the hardware to run it brilliantly, all I'm sayin is that he 'could probably' play it albeit not brilliantly. And as for that Tomshardware graph, what does that prove exactly? Not everyones systems clock the same way nor run at the same spec, what they spec their machines to do when they run 3dMark etc is different to what someone else would run, same for gaming. All I know is that I used to be able to play Crisis at decent res and fps with my set-up. I had an N64 and Sega Megadrive, sonic 3 and Knuckles rocked! especially if you got all the Super chaos emeralds and went Hyper!
  5. It'll be good to see it
  6. @Krisboats - I know his GFX is integrated, I was just trying to make a suggestion, I'm not trying to convince him to go and waste money on the game, all I'm saying is that he shouldn't be expecting to run it at the max specs but he could probably run it anyway. I mean jesus I'm still using a 1.8GHz, 1 GB Ram, Integrated GFx laptop to play HL-2 and Stalker SoC, yes I've reduced the res and AA and it runs fine, now I'm not saying it's breaking the graphical bank here, it isn't always pretty but it's playable. I know that COD4, Crysis is more intense to run than HL-2 and Stalker SoC but it's all relative, if my crappy laptop can run those I'm sure his could play COD4, my laptop is nearly 5 years old now as it is anyway. And I was running a BFG 8800GTX OC2, it had 768mb memory, it was a master stroke for PC gaming! I used to run Crysis and Farcry2 maxed out at 1680*1050 and on High at 1920*1080. Why bother going for ultra settings when the game looks acceptable anyway? The BFG 8800GTX OC2 is possibly one of the best, most groundbreaking cards ever made, most new nvidia cards from the 8, 9 and 200 generations are no more than a rejigged G80 core with an opptimised die process and slight increases to the number of processing elements in each sub-system. Unlike the move from 7 to 8 series where we moved off fixed function pipelines to a unified shader architecture. G80 was a huge leap from anything that went before and it could be awhile until we see that again. I mean it's basically been re-released as a flagship model anyway the GTS250 is almost exactly the same, for such an old card the fact that they are replicating it and re-releasing it just shows how innovative it is. --- @pfoster23681 - I can understand what your saying. --- @Orgun_Donor - Awww how can you say goldeneye was shite? I'll admit though, Perfect Dark was better I'm not saying that Hardware is up to scratch with the Devs, far from it, I mean they run multiple high powered systems just to test things like Ray-Tracing etc... All I'm saying is that a good few months ago you'd have to spend thousands on hardware to be able to play the game at decent res with decent fps, all I'm saying is that now atleast it seems like hardware is catching up with the software, we can now play games like Crysis at decent res/ fps ok without having to spend too much money.
  7. Thats a useful link there, made interesting reading, thanks for posting, Yeah post up some pics
  8. And they arent always 12 year old myspace addicts either! Sometimes you even get pissy adults too! Or so I've found out in the past, Still, if you dont want to be spoken to in a certain way, dont leave yourself open to it, if you see my meaning
  9. Well Crysis for example is a very GPU intensive game, COD4 is also very GPU intensive, I was running one of the old 8800GTX's and it could run Crysis on High settings at 1920x1080 res. And it was fine, now Crysis looks amazing with all the high settings turned up, I only had 2xAA running but thats fine. Now games like GTAIV are CPU intensive, if your not running a quad core CPU then the game settings will bottleneck and nomatter what sort of graphics card you have, be it an HD4870X2 or a GTX295, the game will stutter like a newborn. Hardware has actually overtaken what game devs can throw at us now anyway so the reccomended specs are actually quite accurate. you could have a 24" Monitor or even a 30" monitor, if you had a C-i7 920 CPU, hell even one of the old Q6600's would be good. A decent graphics card, anything like a 1gb4870, 2gb4870x2, 4890, GTX260, GTX280, GTX285, GTX295 and atleast 4gb RAM, 64-bit OS and you will slay the games. Not to mention that a decent MoBo will go far. And if you tell me that if you got some mates together, some brews and sat there playing multiplayer goldeneye you'd be thrown out just because the Ggraphics look a bit dated then well, theres nothing more I can say. thats the problem with people who play consoles (PS3 and Xbox360 fans to say the least) All they worry about is graphical power etc... Well thats great but gameplay is just as important too. And jumping from modern gaming to busting out an N64 and playing goldeneye... well... that just goes to show that game devs have lost alot of touch imo, they dont make games like that anymore... which is a shame. This laptop has integrated GFX so it'll probably have to lower some of the settings to get decent fps, BUT if you lower the screen res and up the things like AA then you'll not notice the difference, your adding more graphical prowess but the CPu/GPu wount have to work as hard to process that, therefore giving better FPS so you wont notice the trade-off there, if you lowered the AA and upped the screen res they have to work much harder and the game will stutter so you'll notice the ugliness. It's finding that balance between performance and power. (Yes they are two different things) I know it's only a laptop, so dont be expecting amazing visuals, but if you ca get that tradeoff between power and performance then what does it matter anyway? Your playing the game, your enjoying it, just because you might not have ambient lighting turned on with all the bells and whistles doesn't mean that it isnt worth it.
  10. Oh right, thanks for the update I work for MI5.
  11. The Forum Search Engines are a godsend! Sometimes it's good to go to forums your not even signed up to and use them if your looking for an answer to do with something in a particular niche Then again you can find anything on Google, yahoo, MSN, Ask etc... 'cuz most of the pages on the forum will get indexed and archived anyway.
  12. Welcome!!! Your English is good, much better than my French at any rate! Nice Mod
  13. Yay, full membership! I've already started posting around on different threads I'm still undecided on whether I want a 20", 24" or 26" I keep changing my mine... but I think I'm 80% swaying towards the 20" Yaabaa 449 Senior, I just hope it's an ok size for me, I think I'm around 5'7 onwards, maybe 5'9 and I weight between the regions of 8 and a half to 9 and a half stone... I cant remember what it was last time I checked 3 lol... ages ago.
  14. I'm pleased you think so I'm glad to find that everyone here is so nice --- Also, on another note, does Tom Hemsley post here at all? I've noticed that he's the Registrar for the forum, with domainmonster.com. Just being nosy really lol, I just think it's nice if the owner of a forum posts on there too... and it's just a habit of mine to check the details on any sites I'm signed up too lol. I got that habit from work lol.
  15. Your mums Mrs. Murray?! You mean she showed you the letter? - I'm joking!
  16. Ah... I didn't see that. Well if any Admins or Mods want to move the thread then thats cool.
  17. I never said that I thought it was true... I said I thought it was funny. --- @Hendrix, I didn't realise it was old, theres a best of the internet section?
  18. Well thats the point, it checks your system against the reccomended settings, so if you pass, you can easily play. Well it's still possible to mod the graphics options to get a decent fps and still have the game looking great. You dont have to drop them all, just until it's sufficient to play, besides graphics are only half of it, gameplay is just as important. I mean look at Goldeneye, mario kart on the N64 etc, graphics are crap but the gameplay is amazing!
  19. Thought it was funny so decided to post it for your amusement This letter was actually sent by Tesco's Head Office to a customer in Oxford: Dear Mrs. Murray, Whilst we would like to thank you for your valued custom and use of the Tesco Loyalty Card, the Manager of our store in Banbury is considering banning you and your family from shopping with us, unless your husband stops his antics. Below is a list of his actions over the past few months all verified by our surveillance cameras: 1. June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people's trolleys when they weren't looking. 2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals. 3. July 7: Made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to feminine products aisle. 4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official tone, 'Code 3' in housewares..... and watched what happened.. 5. August 14: Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area. 6. September 15: Set up a tent in the outdoor clothing department and told shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring sausages and a Calor gas stove. 7. September 23: When the Deputy Manager asked if she could help him, he began to cry and asked, 'Why can't you people just leave me alone?' 8.. October 4: Looked right into the security camera; used it as a mirror, picked his nose, and ate it. 9. October 10: While appearing to be choosing kitchen knives in the Housewares aisle asked an assistant if he knew where the antidepressants were. 10. November 3: Darted around the store suspiciously, loudly humming the Mission Impossible' theme. 11.November 6: In the kitchenware aisle, practised the 'Madonna look' using different size funnels. 12. November 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed, yelled 'PICK ME!' 'PICK ME!' 13. November 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, assumed the foetal position and screamed 'NO! NO! It's those voices again.' And; last, but not least: 14. November 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited a while; then yelled, very loudly, 'There is no toilet paper in here.' --- Lol at the fact that it says husband so it's a fully grown man doing these things! Good on him! - Sirius
  20. Try this http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest Just choose what game you want to play and scan it, you'll have to accept the pop up box. It's for desktop pc's as far as I'm aware but if you pass a majority of them then I dont see why not. You've only got 253mb GFX memory, but if you take the detail down on the game, remove shadows, AA, AF etc... you should be able too play, if your finding it hard to play at decent FPS try lowering the screen resolution. If you still have problems I've got some details I can give you to edit in game that might help... if I can find them lol.
  21. Yeah it's the Pink freak Because it's freaky lol Just thinking, would a 24" bike like the Inspired use 26" or 20" forks and wheels? Oh yeah! Sorry to anyone for us just 1-hit posting, anyone wantsa to join in, shed some light on any issues we've underlined here it'd be apprechiated I now go in search of Coffee, I've just had a Major caffeine crash @_@
  22. God knows what sort of tyres will be on my 20" lol, I'm not too sure whats on my Pink Freak atm... I'll check later lol. Oh yeah!!! Glory Days Corruption! You can't beat a nice bit of GDC!!!
  23. Yeah it rocks hehe, It didn't say glow in the dark on the tin, but it's bloody well bright enough! I think I could meddle and fiddle and tinker and faff with this bike all I like but wouldn't see any real gains from it to be honest... I'm looking to get hold of a decent bike that'll last me awhile while allowing me to make mistakes and not break at first opportunity lol. Thats why I think I'll go for the Yaabaa, get better at trials and save up at the same time, then get an inspired Oh how inspiring! (pun intended)
  24. Oh right, that explains alot about the hangers lol. My BMX is Glow in the Dark Fluorescent Neon Pink It needs a new spray 'cuz it's stopped glowing lol, and I have Gusset peddles to match Everything else is pretty standard as far as I know, Diamondback frame but Fsck knows what everything else is bar the peddles, I got it off my missus' brother for free as he was just gonna scrap it, only thing i added to it were the peddles. As I said it's heavy as hell, not just the whole bike but the frame itself, I know that mod frames are or were based on BMX frames, I was tempted to just drop the seat and get a slim one, remove the gyroscope and change the forks, brakes, wheels, peddles, handlebars etc and try using that as a 20" trials bike instead but it wouldn't be any good imo. The frame is just too heavy.
  25. Oh right, wow an athlon 64 X2 4200, thats old lol. Good old AMD lol, their so losing the CPU war atm lol. At the moment I'm just pottering about on a 20" BMX... atleast I think it's 20" lol, I'll take some pics when I can just to show you, It's quite funky! but the thing is it's heavy as hell!, I wouldn't even try to imaging the weight of it. I'm just using it to commute atm. I'm thinking of buying this http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...;category_id=10 A Yaabaa 449 Senior, I've been looking at it, it doesn't have any hangers on it as far as I'm aware at any rate, Is it only 26" that use hangers then?
