Testing out the canyon gap this year. "Nothing like a 70-foot dead sailor!" http://www.vitalmtb.com/videos/member/Cases-and-Dead-Sailors-on-the-70-foot-Canyon-Gap-at-Rampage,23289/iceman2058,94

We are organising our first race! The track we will be using is called Hooper Struve. Hooper Struve were a soft drinks company that took over a small bottling factory in a nearby village and ran it between 1948 and 1965. While we were digging the track we unearthed a Hooper Struve glass bottle so it made sense to name the track after it.

You had a budget of £400 and wanted a fork with 130mm maximum travel so you went out and got some 160mm forks that will have cost around £700

I have actually ridden that trail quite a few times and know it has been there for at least 3 seasons. I can't say I have been well behaved on every black run I have ridden but there is no way I would be going fast on my first run and launching off the end of woodwork without checking where it goes! To get to the drop at the start of that trail you have to ride over a skinny and past a load of warning signs stating it is black/elite/pro and to ride within your limits. Additional signs may or may not have made these kamikaze lemmings slow down but I think it's a form of natural selection

Male driver with his wife and 5 year old child in the Range Rover... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2438620/Shocking-video-Range-Rover-crashing-bikers-surround-vehicle-annual-street-ride.html

It's a black graded trail in a bike park. Riders that hit stuff like that without looking at it first are the problem.

Mine is £70 but they give a 50% discount if paid within 14 days, how kind of them.

Parked my car up last night at around 18:35, there were bugger all spaces in my road so I tucked it on the end of the residence bays on the yellow lines about 3 doors up the road from my house. I figured it was late on a Saturday night and knew I was leaving early the next day so thought I would be fine. This morning I kept an eye out for traffic wardens while I was getting ready and loaded my car, when I got in my car it turned out I had a ticket on the windscreen. They had observed my car between 18:42 and 18:52 last night before issuing the ticket. Shit luck

Sounds good, it has changed so much since you did the army race there a couple of years ago! We also feature in the latest issue of Wideopen Magazine, a bit of history behind the club. http://wideopenmag.co.uk/magazine/issue-21/ Specific pages - http://issuu.com/wideopenmag/docs/wo_issue_21_/51?e=1156718/4986164

Crucial BMX summer trails trip. Featuring some awesome trails including PSA which is just down the road from me and built by friends.

It still seems like a dream and hasn't really sunk in, the trails I have spent around 4 years helping build etc... got a nice positive 6 page article in MBUK this month and they used one of the photos for the front cover! http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/182810-tidworth-freeride/?p=2540697

When I was younger I religiously purchased MBUK and dreamt that one day I would appear in the magazine. I was away riding in France when the MBUK guys visited so I still haven't appeared in the magazine but the next best thing happened in the issue that hit the shelves today... A great 6 page article about MBUK's visit to the park and the main feature on one of our most popular trails was used for the cover photo! So happy!

That problem is easy to solve. Buy a return flight and make sure you have the option to change the return date free/cheap. The first time I went to Australia I bought a return flight that gave me 1 month travel time, I knew I was staying with friends for the first 2 weeks and after that I was on my own which scared the shit out of me. It turned out I loved it so moved the return flight date to give me an extra month. I had already arranged with work to have 1-2 months off so just emailed them saying I would be back later than originally planned. Because I had a full time job to return to I was able to abuse an interest free credit card and get it paid off within a few months when I got home

Yeah I forgot to say it isn't cheap and travelling the East Coast is basically one massive party You could probably survive 2 months all in for £3000 but it wouldn't be much fun.

If you go with hostels use hostelworld.com to look at reviews and book them as you go. Expect to pay £8-£20 per night depending on where you are and how basic the hostel is.

In Russia apparently everyone has cameras installed into cars because of the high number of people throwing themselves in front of cars and trying to claim compensation This is why there was so much footage of that asteroid over Russia earlier on in the year.

Yep, it's on the right as you go North and the car park runs along the side of the road, depending on the time there will have been a load of cars and vans there.
