Its all about Christmas Eve at the pub Christmas Eve is always a great night! All the people that I know who have moved away or are at uni are back and the pub has a great atmosphere. I don't really like Christmas, I guess its cool to get all the family together but its just the same old thing year after year.

My first car was a beast! Red 3 door Peugeot 106 Kid, 4 speed, 954cc It cost me about £1k from a dealer and the Insurance was something crazy like £1500 TPFT but when I did pass plus it nearly halved. This was 5 years ago though.

They aren't all Carbon. They still make the Alu frames, you pay extra if you want a Carbon frame.

Don't rely on the temps that show up in your BIOS. Download RealTemp to get accurate temperatures for each individual core.

On a Saturday at Leisure World they charge up until 12 midday. After 12 there is no one in the ticket booth thingy and its free. (That is how it worked a few months ago when I parked there on a Saturday)

PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. That is all. -
Well one is a heatsink and fan that cools via air. The other is a heatsink, fan, radiator, pump and pipe system full of liquid. It does say it comes pre-bled and ready to fit but I personally don't see the problem with air cooling. By getting that water CPU cooler you are only removing one fan from the system, and as long as you get a fan that is 4pin and PWM controlled you are barely going to be able to hear it anyway! If you are going to heavily over clock the CPU the water cooling would be a good idea but I am assuming you are not going to be going crazy with over clocking. As long as you get a nice Heatsink and fan and have good airflow through the case air cooling will be fine even with some over clocking.

Wait a second. Earlier on you were saying how your scared of building a machine up now your planning to go with water cooling?
-
Definitely make sure you go for a modular PSU, it makes keeping the case tidy so much easier! My Enermax PSU has been awesome, its a 3 year old 400w Enermax Liberty, it worked problem free in my old machine and has now been transferred to my new machine. A friend has recently had bad experiences with a couple of Corsair PSU's failing (the originally and warranty replacement failing in quick succession). In the machine I have just built I am running an Akasa AK-965 CPU Cooler which is great, the Akasa CPU coolers seem to be great value for money and also nice and quiet! I am running two 120mm Sharkoon Silent Eagle case fans, one as an intake and one as an exhaust and they are stupidly quiet and shift a decent amount of air! I also agree you should go for a Samsung Spinpoint HDD!

That sounds like way too much thermal paste! You pretty much want as little as possible. If you are applying your own you are meant to apply a small amount about the size of a grain of rice onto the middle of the CPU chip, push the heatsink on, remove the heatsink then wipe away any paste from the heat sink leaving just the thin layer that is on the CPU chip itself. Most CPU heatsinks will come with a thin layer of thermal paste pre-applied so its simple enough to just fit the cooler without faffing around applying your own thermal paste.

WOAH WOAH WOAH Is that Tom Chilvers old one? I sooo wish I had bought it off him

Did you ever see it in real life? The pictures did the colour no justice!

Seems to work, I just thought it would be a cool idea to keep the videos of your team riders archived somewhere. I will probably give you an email or phone call when I decide I have the money to spend on new shoes and pedals for the XC bike, I would rather support you guys than buy from CRC if you are able to get hold of the products I want
-
Impact 2 Low's Also while I am in here, would it be possible to add an archive containing just videos/photos so they don't keep getting lost as the blog is updated?
-
Are you guys planning to stock any of the other 5.10 shoes or am I going to have to order from CRC?

Who needs to buy polish and wax when you have Jardo living so close to you?

Good idea, dress up as Jarrod

*Sighs* When will some people learn that its all about the quality not how loud it is!

My computer died a few weeks ago so I decided to use a recent tax rebate to build a new system. Coolermaster Elite 330 Midi Tower Case - Black (No PSU) Enermax Liberty 400w Modular PSU Gigabyte GA-EP43-UD3L Intel P43 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5300 "LGA775 Core 2" 2.60GHz (800FSB) Akasa AK-965 CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775) Kingston HyperX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel Gainward GeForce 9600 GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card Samsung SpinPoint F3 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache Samsung SH-S223BBEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) I was on a budget, the total came to about £350 posted from OCUK. I already had the PSU. I will probably end up over clocking the system although I am happy right now because its much faster than my previous 5 year old system! A quick bit of research tells me that I should be able to over clock the E5300 to 3.5GHz fairly easily. My priority is adding a front 120mm fan and sorting out the annoying noisy GFX fan! Has anyone had any experience using passive VGA coolers? I am planning to fit an Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Rev. 2

Yeah, like loads of the Continental sponsored DH riders fitting Continental tyres for promotional pictures but using Maxxis for races

I have been running High Rollers front and rear for a while now. Both in 2.35 single ply, MaxxPro on the rear and Super Tacky on the front. Really nice tyres that havent let me down yet. The other tyre I quite like is the Kenda Nevegal in 2.35. I ran them on my hard tail for a long time and recently decided to give them another chance on my full sus. For XC I think the tread pattern is amazing however the tyre is let down by poor puncture resistance! I thought 3 thorn punctures in 5 short 1-2 hour rides was a bit of a piss take so ended up putting the High Rollers back on and deal with the extra rolling resistance. I have met a guy that managed to get the Nevegals to work tubeless though so if your up for the hassle of going tubeless they might be worth considering. The Minions are meant to be awesome tyres, I personally havent used them but I have heard lots of good things about them!

Ah you found the White 8 trail then, good stuff isnt it! Les Arcs is all about the un-marked trails Other than Fort William where in the UK is there an up lift service that offer long runs though? While I am here, people need to post pictures of their mountain bikes in the MTB Pics Thread I started last week
-
Lift passes do vary, but the weekly price is more than you originally suggested. I just checked Morzine/Les Gets prices and its 80 euros for a 6 day pass or 20 euros per day. In Les Arcs they are 70 euros for the week or 20 euros per day. Tolls to Les Arcs were around £50 each way last year. I recon something needs to be organised. It doesnt have to be somewhere exotic like the Alps, it could be a Welsh trail centre, or somewhere like Swinley, Cannock or Chicksands... If people didnt want to earn their descents by first riding up the hills and we were organised we could all book on the same uplift day at Cwn Carn or UK Bike Park...
