Urban Dh Race At Plymouth Uni Grounds.

That was an amazing event! I placed 23rd out of 56 in Senior. Full results available HERE -
A couple of years ago I helped a friend do a couple of mock lessons before his assessment for a cycle coach qualification, it was really amusing racing around cones in the park, we must have looked like a load of mad men! Anyway... Start with a warm up. The warm up doesn't have to be on the bike, it can be stretches, jogging etc.... You could incorporate something regarding a quick bike check (Make sure the wheels are secure, tyres are inflated, the brakes work, saddle height etc...) Then do cycling around cones. Teach controlled braking so that you don't skid or lose control of the bike, teach pedal position when turning (The inner pedal should be up when making a turn). Make a slalom, slowly move the cones closer together to make the turns tighter and also you can use the cones to make gates they have to ride between. You can then separate the group into teams, make a dual relay so they can do relay slalom races against each other or against the clock. If its a sports course you should finish off with some sort of warm down exercises.

I did think that too but meh, either way it looks like a fun place to ride!

I ended up buying some AM40's because my LBS had them in stock and did them for a good price. I didn't really want to risk ordering shoes online and having to send them back because they didn't fit properly. I have been using them for a few rides now and am so glad I bought them! Light weight, comfortable and the lace cover is great. I run the shoes with the stiffer plastic insert and Wellgo MG1 pedals, the grip is fantastic! The shoes also don't look that bad in real life (admittedly part of me would still prefer black shoes but its not a big deal because the AM40's perform so well!) Highly recommended

Awesome

I would go for a SRAM Cassette rather than a Shimano. Assuming it is 9 speed get something like the PG970 or PG980. Both the SLX and XT mechs are both really nice

Cushion and ear plug request from your passenger

Lies... Thats not a valid format for a VRM Private plates do my head in and I think they should be banned. They just cause problems in my current job!

Nick, if I get the train up to Basingstoke on the Thursday night can I crash at yours then get a lift with you to meet George and transfer into his car? Are you planning to take your massive tent along to create a base camp?
-
I know a few people who ride in them for XC and DH. They are meant to be very comfortable and extremely grippy. If they were not white I would buy myself some, I am in the market for some 5.10's once money allows, my current riding shoes are a bit of a state!

Had one with Marmite earlier, it wasn't as bad as it sounds...

Managed to get hold of a Patagonia ski jacket that fits me nicely in the local camping shop for £100! I also got some nice snowboard socks today and should be borrowing some ski pants from a mate. I will be sorting out some gloves and goggles ASAP then I'm good to go. Last minute trip will be booked at some point over the next week to go away on the 27th/28th for a week!

Add food colouring to your pancake mix to make things a little more interesting

Just stick with it and let them harden up. I haven't been climbing since the start of November because I badly damaged my finger dry slope snowboarding
-
plus its got a 22t front ring, get a bigger chain ring!

I hate being small and living in a City with limited decent outdoor shops! TK Max have NOTHING, the camping shops have stuff but its all really expensive (£200 on a jacket I will use for 1 week then not use until next year isn't really ideal!) Looks like a trip to another TK Maxx is in order, I only have 2 weeks to sort myself out

Get to the back of the line. If anyone is stealing that bike it will be me

I am in the same position as Bongo. Should be going first week in March to the Alps last minute, destination 'wherever there is snow and cheap last minute deals' I have Long Johns, Merino base layers, a Smelly Helly polly prop base layer and a fleece mid layer so I am sorted for layers! Tacky Max in Salisbury have limited stock and the stock they have is all massive sizes! I think a trip to snow and rock is required soon (Its a shame I cant find anything cheap in TK Max, I have been checking frequently for the last couple of months ) What lenses do people recommend in goggles? What colour/grade lens is good for varying conditions? Does it really matter that much? I will probably just buy a lens for my Oakley O-Frame MX Goggles if I can find one cheap...

I heard the rock was called unobtanium before seeing the film and it really put me off going Went to see it in 3d on Sunday night. We were sat right at the front in the centre and I also was underwhelmed by the 3d. In places it was amazing, in some sections I am fairly sure it was just in 2d, then in others it didn't quite look right. The story line was fairly basic but it worked and also had an interesting outlook on humanity and the way we treat the environment etc... Even though the film was nearly 3 hours long it didn't drag on and it didn't feel like I was in the cinema over 3 hours (including adverts). It was definitely a good experience though and I would consider going to see it again. It would be interesting to now see it in 2d rather than 3d. Due to more piracy and a huge improvement in home cinema less and less people must be bothering to go to the Cinema so I think the whole 3d thing is going to be done more and more, although I don't know if this is a good or bad thing...

Rumour confirmed.

I have a feeling that copy doesn't have the original sound track...

You are thinking of the correct film Mark. I will agree that its not the best out of the 3 Collective films however I still consider it to be a very good MTB Film! The opening section in Roam is one of my favourites sections out of all 3 films (LINK) I can kinda see what you're saying about the dirt jumping section however I must point out that the filming and editing is awesome ( ) Also worth watching... Kranked 6 and 7. f1rst and The Tipping Point (However they are more documentary style videos following an entire season of DH)

The Collective, Roam and Seasons. All must see bike films!
