  1. Well well; Afternoon all. The creation of this here topic is for me to ask a few "Noob" questions about trials etcetera. With hopefully the replies of some good hearted forum users, willing to help out the new kid I will be updating this topic with any more queries/questions I may come across rather than producing another. First question for you all is in relation to brands and the like. Basically I'm wondering what brands are to look out for... "Top of the range" "Common" You may say. This is relation to all trials gear: -Frames, -Rims, -Handle bars... You name it! Reasoning behind this query, is simply that, sure I know the "In's and out's" of mountain biking, but I am a newborn' to trials, along with everything to do with trials. I would appreciate that greatly, thanks My second question for this not-so-warm afternoon is the upcoming; Onza's top of the range 2009 Comp, does it cut the cake? This is a terrible "Noobish" question to ask... Although it is a genuine question. To elaborate my meaning a little deeper, you see, from advancing rather quickly in my skill on a bike over the last few months, trying and pulling off things my riding bud's of a lengthier experience, would not dare... I am rather full of myself; over confident would be a fitting statement. Meaning that as soon as I get the basics of trials I'll start going to off trying ludicrous things, Larger drops than I've tried on my hardtail etcetera... The point is ladies and gentle men, after reading through a few topics I have picked up certain facts and statements that make me think... ...Does it cut the cake? This, coincidently, ties in with my first question. Seeing if I knew the answer to my first question... I would therefore be capable of answering my second, but... I do not. Hence question numerous deux Thank you all, and my apologies for the long winded post. I will look forward to learning a thing or two from you all, Chris.
  2. Hello Cameron, Yeah I've always found my Mullet to be stong enough for anything really. From the 20 Mile I have to ride nion every night i go riding, to uplift days at innerliethen. From casual street, to hucking stair gaps and huge flat land drops. She does it all, brilliant all round frame. Chris.
  3. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Cuo7BslZXz8&...re=channel_page There you go. If you follow the links through all that guys video's you'll pick up alot. Well, I found them all very usefull Chris.
  4. Well, I'm in the same situation as you mate. Over the last few days on this forum I've picked up that learning to balance well, and pedal kicks are the main thing you need to learn. After that its all just practice and trying new things to progress I found a few video's on youtube on how to do those things if you would like me to find them again for you ? Also, have you come from another type of biking ? See, I've come from downhill/4X/Street and DJ. Most of the things I've learned from that i can put into my trials riding. From simple things like balancing and bunny hops, to things like endu 180's and rock stepping etc... Chris.
  5. Since i got into biking just over a year ago, I've always either asked for parts, or money to get parts. They do sometimes worry that i spend so much on things to do with bikes, but after explaining to them what the parts do and why there the price they are, there fine with it Chris.
  6. Well, santa is being very generous this christmas for me. My christmas list is either; 2009 Onza Comp 5:10's Money (Not sure how much) Or 2007 Ns Bitch Frame Saint cranks FSA headset E-Thirteen LG1 Sram X.9 Shifter Sram X.9 Mech 5:10's Money (Not sure how much) I've just got to decide between my two loves... Downhill or Trials. But you will all be glad to hear I've chose Trials What are your oppinions ? Chris.
  7. Haha, brilliant! I now have someone to share my birthday with.
  8. Well, I'm Chris. Will be 16 in march, the 15th to be presice. I've been riding properly for over a year now, Started of on a stock Gary Fisher Mullet, over this year I've fully customised it to an all round freeride hardtail. I've been riding mainly street and dirt jumps, though i spend quite some time on the 4X track and of course Downhill. Basically i fell in love with downhill after a day up at Innerliethen, and have been looking for a downhill bike since. A good few months I'd say... Though it has come to me that i will never be able to pay for a downhill bike untill i get another job. Although... The last month or so while riding street, i find myself locking my forks down and riding trials, (As you could imagine, trials riding on a pretty much downhll hardtail isn't that easy, especially if your a beginner, Like me ) So i've found myself in love with trials riding. Which unfortunatly left me with the decision of choosing between my two loves, Downhill and trials. But after many many nights tearing hair out of my head trying to decide, and more pro's and con's tables later ... It came down to the simple fact that if i got myself a trials bike, i would be able to start of trials riding, but i will also have my other hardtail which i can use for pretty much anything. So, thats how i've ended up here, another trials rider is born. Right, I would class myself as relitivly clued up on anything to do with mountian bikes, but trials bikes... well... Pretty much nothing. So for me this is a new begining, i feel like i did last november when i first joined Southerndownhill (Some of you may reconise the name). Knew absolutly nothing about nothing to be honest. And it's the same now. Just to give you all a heads up that i will most likely be asking alot of questions, and to you it may just be common knowlage, but i don't mean to ask plain dumb questions, I just need to learn, If thats alright with you guys. And girls of course, im guessing . So, After that little essay of mine... I ride in a town called Alnwick most of the time, this is not far away from Newcastle if some of you don't know of Alnwick. And I live roughly 10mile away. Almost every day you will find me biking that 10 mile to Alnwick, so for a guy to ride 20 miles just to meet up with his mates and ride his bike for a while, must show some sort of dedication to biking surely As for my trials bike, well... For christmas i'm hopefully picking up this little beauty: 2009 Onza Comp, im sure all of you will be familiar with this. What do you think of her ? Top of the range for this year so i'm hoping it will be decent ( Thats possibly a terrible understatment ) I'll bring this long winded introduction to an end now, Thank you and I'll look forward to settling in here Chris.
