  1. Dont take it too seriously...just go find a couple of sections you can try different things on without any hassle and enjoy it. No need to get all stressed out over "how big is this gap" "how high was that sidehop"....just go have fun. I hardly get the chance to go out once a week so can't wait to get out....so maybe the answer is find more hobbies / other things to do.
  2. that bad? I only want it cos I think having a seat on a bike looks better....when people see a tiny frame a no seat they just assume "its easy all that on one of them special stunt bikes with no seats or anything" Might look at a Junior BMX seat or something then....any suggestions what else I could use?
  3. everyone gets bored and gives up trials at some point....some of us come back to it though (5 years break!)
  4. Get out and do something else.... or.... buy a road bike or xc bike... after being crippled on either of those for a couple of hours a trial bike is amazing.
  5. Proper brake oil is made for a reason though...like not freezing for a start...and I also thought its because water can be compressed more than a formulated brake oil. Water may be free but so what if you can't use you bike when it gets cold. It doesn't cost that much for a proper bleed kit and oil....maybe if you can't afford to maintain a magura switch to a vee (just a suggestion)
  6. Use proper brake fluid? Im not sure why people have a problem with the stuff.
  7. Just asked a seller on ebay about this seat My bike (Czar freetrials) takes a 27.7mm post and the seller has told me this seat fits into a 1 1/8 inch seat tube....so will this fit? he assures me that he has sold hundreds but I dont want to waste my time or his if its wrong. please advise!
  8. I have some Muc Off, that seems to work too
  9. well...I can only advise what works for me...and this with a well set up brake, clean pads and some tar to do the trick (for the back wheel only).
  10. Simple question - do they make a noticeable difference...and how (better hold, more solid feeling?) Any good ones in particular?
  11. I have had a set on mag's on one bike for over 10 years with no bleeding and they are still great.... Clean your rim with some white spirit from time to time to get traces of oil off, file just the top surface of the pad (for the same reason) and set them up accurately so they hit the rim at the same time. If you bend your wheel either get it tightened or learn to true it yourself - at least this way you'll know when its out instead of letting it get too far. As for breaking the levers I dunno how you managed that. I only have the old type I dont like the shape of the new ones....Id try a hope but worry about a rear disc cracking the frame.

    Trials-uk

Has anyone gone through trading standards yet?....no-one seems to have mentioned it (suprising given the amount of complaints). Im on the list of ripped off people, I really think a forum for trials riders should be warning its members about cowboy firms like this. (Mobile no. on the website as a business number is a bit of a clue). As much as Im happy buying from Tarty its a shame there isn't a real alternative. A bit of competition might keep prices more reasonable?
  13. not the best pics (my unfinished Czar) but might give you an idea...

    Trials-uk

I ordered a couple of bits from trials-uk but got one part unboxed and full of scratches, the other was just a pair of grips that didn't even match. I have returned them and despite chasing and being promised a replacement have received nothing. Cowboys.
  15. This is what happens when you try and ride after some time off....you remember how it goes in your head but you're out of practice so it just doesn't happen like you think. Solution is to just keep riding.
  16. Have had several sets of vees over the years and (for trials) hated them all. One tiny bit of grit in the cable housing or any water and the whole feel of the brake is gone. One bike of mine has had the same old set of maggies for about 10 years - I havent needed to do anything apart from change the pads and they just keep working. A brilliant design.
  17. Whats this liverpool one - any other info?
  18. I like stock as it looks more like a 'normal' bike...so its more suprising for people to see you clear a big gap or whatever
  19. then whats the point of replaceable sealed bearings? i like these - out of about 15 sets of pedals these are the only set ive had where the pins don't all come out!
  20. Ive got the drilled trialtech with the wide base. seems ok (should be for what they cost)
  21. I have some wellgo (old DMR V12 style) sealed bearing pedals that have started to wobble and creak a bit....where can you get the sealed bearing units and how do you replace them?
  22. I really like the TV On The Radio soundtrack! makes a change to all the AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH music usually found on vids
  23. how do you mean they'll munch the chain?
  24. Not really into the holes drilled in everything thing - remings me of early xc racers - inevitably people get carried away with drilling holes and things start breaking. The trend seems to have gone full circle. White bar and stem looks great...want some!
