longer stem should save your knees and give a bit more reach...but too long and it'll be a tw@ to bunnyhop

I bought a second hand bb7 from here just cos it was cheap and I thought it be ok until I got something else but it's great... Still prefer maggy though.

Agree. Better to not be noticed... Less hassle, less stupid comments. If I ride in the centre of my nearest town it's only once all the shoppers have gone home.

thanks for the links - brings some memories back watching them....chili video still sell chainspotting on DVD I think this is cos back then you just had a general bike for all messing about/trials on....now it seems to be either 100% TGS or all 'street'. Look at Jeff Lenosky in Evolve - one bike for big street stuff and gaps...and the same bike for the hoppy stuff. Now everyones out measuring walls and stuff and stressing about their sidehop technique. What happened to just going out and having a laugh.

....really want to see Evolve again...surely someone has it on Vimeo or something?

Looking for a 27.2mm pivotal post and seat and trying to find alternatives to the inspired stuff. I've seen the DMR lockjaw post but does this work with any seat (pivotal) or just the DMR seat? Also, even if I have to opt for the inspired post can anyone recommend a plainish or at least more stylish (than the inspired) pivotal seat? Must be quite small/slim. Cheers Dan

I'm still undecided...I don't like a lot of back sweep on a bar cos it makes it feel like a shopping bike....I'll try find a decent pic of the Deity Not sure on the stem either...can't decide between the 90x20 EA50 or 90x10 Hope....I dunno.

Stange Question... What Makes People Want To Start Trials...?
Dan81 replied to Styles's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Martyn Ashton. Years ago when I got my first mtb I bought MBUK and it had a little supplement mag showing Martyn teaching all the basic stuff on his red Cannondale ...and then Chainspotting came out.... -
perfect...cheers for the help Have you got a pic of your bike on here so I can see how it looks

They're quite cheap think I'll give the ea50 a go... Anyone know of a good (strong) 90mm x 10deg stem that costs less than a hope?
-
are the EA30's and 50's the same shape but just different material?
-
I need some help choosing a handlebar - so tell me what to buy... I've tried an old Azonic DW which was ok but swept back a bit too much (and lives on another bike now) and a Zoo which is too wide/low/TGSy for my bike....whats a good all-round option for a streety bike (but still ok for some hoppy stuff)? What are you inspired riders using? Should I just get a trialtech and chop it down a bit? (I want something at least 2" rise and reasonable upsweep)....I don't mind around £50 but don't want to go into silly money (£70+)

...that last one was great with the exception that one of the tracks sounded suspiciously like Nickleback.

few things to check; makes sure there's nothing still in your tyre or casing. check the condition of the tyre air pressure? look at the areas you ride shit tube? got rim tape in? (nothing sharp sticking through?)

does evolve exist online anywhere...i have the vid but no vcr!?
-
Why, are the new ones not as good? (was thinking of changing for one)...
-
just keep practising - you WILL get it. see how many back hops you can do then just keep trying to better it. once you can do about 10 you're probably ok to try doing a little pedal hop. when you're starting this is quite hard to learn so expect to get annoyed with it but don't give up!
-
you are a bit mental!
-
thats awesome - and amazing it's all out of spares/donor frames....got to get a quick vid, even if it's just riding around with a few hops or whatever. when does work on Mk2 start!?
-
oh right, juat wondered. How much weight does that save?
-
looks mean... good work! that'll be fun getting used to after the zaskar!
-
I had the same problem with mine... the crank just clipped the non-drive side magura piston. I set them both in so the pads were pushing right against the rim (only way for crank to clear brake)... by the time I rode a couple of miles like this (complete with awful noise) it was fine...re-set up after a little spin and it's ok now.
-
how come you cut a hole in it?
-
Thanks, the photo doesn't show it well well but they are zoo risers but they are getting ditched for a shorter/higher set up soon though as it's back-breaking low and too hard to bunnyhop properly. I think you'r right, hopefully a few changes should sort this. The horrid plastic thing is going in favour of a real seat and other bits changing soon to make more 'street' Thanks again...It's me riding it so it doesn't matter to me if other people want to bitch about it. I just liked it and wanted something different (plus, I like having a seat)... The offending dropouts... Also forgot to mention, this has been put together on a fairly tight budget so thanks to everyone who sold me their useable 2nd hand stuff!
