  1. I'm guessing thats if you buy it privately? Think i'm set on the diesel.. if you come across one in your searches let me know Just replaced my front speakers in the fabia, had to take the door cards off and drill out old speakers. Pretty scary, but its all back in one piece and my speaker no longer makes a terrible farting sound.
  2. Hmm yeah I've been tempted to do it with my VRS. But then I hear people going on about the clutch taking more stress, and it's already done 90,000 miles. I guess if it was on 40,000 ish then I'd be more tempted/less concerned the clutch would explode and cost a shedload to fix. I don't know enough about remapping either, so it scares me a bit Just been driving about and I'm seriously tempted to trade mine in now. I'm going to be in pembrokeshire for the next 3 years (due to my girlfriends job) so I'm pretty much tied into doing 400 miles per week commuting to cardiff for the next 3 years... makes sense to get something a bit nicer to drive in now. In the mean time, I'm going to take the door cards off my fabia and replace the speakers (one of them has blown) - this should be fun... That was the answer I was looking for
  3. Well insurance is cheaper than I thought it would be! £286 on this http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201302225449937/sort/default/usedcars/model/leon/make/seat/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/page/2/radius/1500/keywords/cupra_r/postcode/cf244pg?logcode=p And err, last question (in all likelihood I'm not going to be buying a new car any time soon, but anyway..) - people say diesel engines will go on for ever and ever, does the same apply for petrol engines nowadays? Would you be more confident buying a petrol or diesel engine if it had 100,000 miles on the clock?
  4. I do about 400 a week so MPG is fairly important to me. Doubt I would get it mapped, insurance companies already have enough reasons to quote me unhappy, plus my driving abilities wouldn't warrant it. Never really looked at the cupra r before, but the prices seem similar on auto trader. I think/thought I like diesel cars more, but maybe I've just never driven the right petrol car... definitely food for thought. Ta for the info
  5. I did look at the prices of them about 6 months ago which made me think it might be worth selling my skoda which hasn't really dropped in price that much since I bought it. (i'd like to mention the main reason I got the skoda was because I wrote off the leon, and the skoda was the most similar thing I could find with a sensible insurance group ) Could sell mine for £3000 ish I think (its basically this one with a few less miles) http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201302215435227/sort/default/usedcars/engine-size-cars/1-7l_to_1-9l/maximum-age/up_to_10_years_old/maximum-mileage/up_to_100000_miles/fuel-type/diesel/model/fabia/make/skoda/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/radius/1500/keywords/vrs/postcode/cf244pg/page/1?logcode=p And buy an FR again for an extra few hundred quid: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201302235467879/sort/default/usedcars/engine-size-cars/1-7l_to_1-9l/maximum-mileage/up_to_100000_miles/fuel-type/diesel/model/leon/make/seat/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/page/1/keywords/fr/radius/1500/postcode/cf244pg?logcode=p very tempting. the leon is a nicer car to drive, decent stereo and climate control....
  6. Seems a lot of people buying leons at the moment - are they 'fashionable' in the car world at the moment? or just coincidence that a few people have posted them here over the past couple of weeks/months. Would love to have mine back sort of tempted to sell my skoda (ahem) and buy a leon again - is there a difference between the cupra and the FR? guessing there is.but then my skoda does me well and its pretty rapid. tempted to run it into the ground...
  7. Is it just coincidence that I got an email from adobe about 10 mins before you posted this with the subject 'working harder is out - working smarter is in', or did you get it too? Anyway, I agree. (Smart) Laziness is good.
  8. Anyone suggesting the UK doesn't have a higher quality of life than Russia should really try going to Russia. No offence to russians, but its pretty grim - as grim as you see on those russian videos of people jumping off blocks of flats. Driving along, there's not just the odd disintegrating concrete factory with smashed up windows, pretty much all of them are (we drove along the bottom of russia, didnt visit moscow or anything where I suspect it might be better). Buildings like this - everywhere, with no new buildings to be seen. The roads are basically screwed (it made me think that road tax is actually well worth it - need to remind myself that), the police are corrupt, you get stopped & checked in and out of every major town - that sucks - could you even begin to imagine what that would be like if we had that system over here? The people there seem sad/angry and it wasn't until we left that we realised how much of a drain on your sanity just being there was. That was my experience of russia for about 5 days. So I do have sympathy, and the quality of life - buildings, jobs, security, government etc is much better here.

  12. ah, crap. i thought it was just a little random icon that was missing, not the actual button that lets you leave feedback

  14. Now updated, saying 02:14PM is retarded
  15. I actually agree, you know where you are with 24h. But I think whenever I change it, danny changes it back
  16. Nope, just paste the URL (with http:// at the start)
  17. http://screencast.com/t/XGsap9q4 .... did you put those media tags there?
  18. yeah, people just stated writing 'bump' regardless of the 24 hour button limit
  19. I think Tomm mentioned it also but flow bindings really can be a pain in the arse in practice. If you fall in deep snow and need to walk yourself out, it can be near impossible to get your feet out of the back of them. It's also harder to get your feet clipped into them as you need to be standing on the board to slot your feet in (by which time you'll be half way down the mountain/back on your arse), with normal bindings you can just sit down and strap your board on in your own time. I'm not up to speed on boards or boots (or bindings) but anything you buy will be better than a rental board, and after two/three seasons you should have made your money back You just better hope you like it!
  20. I've been to somewhere in andorra (quite possibly soldeu, the whole country is only 25miles wide of something). snow was good, and its really cheap, on icelolly.com andorra is always the cheapest for catered chalets (ignoring bulgaria and poland) Downsides: its a bit grim and lifeless - huge blocks of 70's flats, no trees afair, and only one or two bars worth going to. Not much character. I don't think I'd go again.
