  1. blunt but true erm, we'll have to wait for danny to get back from his pissup. In the mean time, get firefox
  2. ha, wow you're not joking. i'll put it on the to do list, in the mean time you could probably reupload the pic and it'll fix itself.
  3. right you are... turned compatibility mode on on ie8 and i can see it. I'll fix it, in the mean time you should upgrade your browser http://www.getfirefox.com dannys buggered off to the pub while i sort out his banner placement.. grr!
  4. ha, on the plus side, we no longer need this topic.
  5. I didn't think people used it But just for you, it'll be back when I get round to sorting out the video section. That was just a quick job to get something up and running, it'll improve over time
  6. Click the little >> button next to status updates and the whole sidebar gets hidden
  7. Its finally here, with weeks of preparation and working all day today, Danny and myself have upgraded to forum IPB3.0. Take a look around, theres some nifty new features dotted about. Videos The video system has been upgraded to use a different system, its not finished but the 'base' is there - we still need to do a lot of work on the templates. Uploads are temporarily disabled until the next version of the forums. Feedback The feedback has been imported from the old forum but at the moment there is no way to view it. Don't worry, its not gone forever. We're waiting on some upgrades from Invision before restoring it to its former glory. Wiki The wiki articles will be imported at a later date into a new system. You'll notice that some posts with quotes in them are not properly formatted. We need to run a converter to update all of these posts, but it will take a couple of days to run through every post. So take a look around, let us know what you think
  8. I lost my dakine ones one trip, and ended up having to buy some 50 euro zanier ones. Never heard of the brand before, nor did I want to spend that much, but it was the cheapest I could find in the resort. but in the end it was 50 euros well spent! I love em. They're warm and furry on the inside, never wet with sweat. As I said before, they froze solid on the outside this year, but remained dry and warm on the inside. these are them http://www.theski-shop.co.uk/index.php?pag...t&Itemid=38 edit: no idea if they're stylin'
  9. Over estimating probably Although the signs say its cold, it normally feels pretty warm, too hot if anything - it gets pretty hot constantly moving around trying not to fall over. Dont worry about wearing the same trousers all week, thats pretty normal as far as I know. In fact.. mine have been for about 3 weeks now without getting washed trousers clean themselves and all that... I'm just remembering the feeling of being out all day, then turning up at a bar in your snowboard stuff, loosening your boots and having a beer. Probably the best beers you'll ever have.
  10. The sign said -13 when I was in tignes in jan, it didn't feel anything like that, was so hot I had to unzip my (thin) jacket when I stopped. But as I said I had a decent base and mid layer, and it was sunny most days, so I guess that makes a big difference. One of the guys I went with wore a HH base layer and a shell jacket thing all week, nutter! Hat, gloves, baselayers, hood, one of those neck things & thermals underneath trousers make a big difference IMO. impending snowball fight..
  11. agreed. some decent socks are a good plan, but they cost a bomb. you can always wash them in the sink each night (if you can be bothered to wash them at all...). saves some money. not that agreed well depends what you mean, for the past 2 years i've gone in a 'ski' jacket (ones that have a snow skirt, not that I can ever be arsed with that).. but the one's i've taken have literally been a decent windproof/waterproof layer, no padding. So I've used a decent baselayer, midlayer and shell. But IMO no need to a massive padded jacket, they get pretty hot in my experience (when I did have one, I'd generally just wear a tshirt underneath). The 'gators' you can get on the sleeves are handy, stops snow getting up there, which is fairly annoying. GLOVES! now then.. its worth getting decent gloves. Cold fingers/hands can make your whole body feel cold, decent ones will keep them dry and warm all day. Mine completely froze into the shape of my fist a couple of times this year, but my fingers remained nice and cosy inside anyway, you didn't ask anything about that stuff. trousers, can't really go wrong if they're snowboard/ski ones. have fun, would love to go again this year
  12. Combined community codec pack is the one I usually go for.

    Pranks

We emptied our mates room while he was upstairs for 30 mins or so. all furniture, wardrobe, desk, bed etc moved into the toilet. he wasn't happy. Balance buckets of water (at tipping point) against peoples doors while they're in (do it quietly) and knock. Add eggs, milk etc to the water if you want. Only works if the doors open inwards. I once came downstairs towards the kitchen, noticed that none of the lights worked so crept along in the dark suspecting someone was up to something. I found my mate sitting there (god knows how long he'd been in there) waiting for someone to fall over the trip wire he'd set up, and I assume smash their face onto the tiled floor. The trip wire was a mop. Number 2 is probably the simplest/most effective.
  14. I just got up and I don't ride trials any more (although the skillz still come in handy on my way to work each morning). Going riding next weekend though
  15. Crap, didn't think of that. Pete 'Hotz' Wright, if you're reading, please dont hack my computer
  16. enough of these threads... we have loads already.
  17. the whole site is backed up weekly onto a different drive (but if hackers got in, they could easily delete this so its only really handy if the primary drive fails). We take a nightly DB backup which goes onto the server, then me and danny have a handy link which lets us download the latest available DB backup to our own computers, which the hackers can't touch I download a backup every couple of days, not sure how often danny does, but hopefully between us we always have a relatively recent one. As for OTN, glad its back shame theres so much hatin' going on.. but fair enough.. its only the internet innit.
  18. No you weren't, you were twice told the rules, and i'll do it again
  19. yarp. just take the crank bolt out, put a 5p in its place to cover the hole, screw on the crank extractor.
  20. Is it likely that a lot of people will be signing up to this? If its only 20 people per year I'd just set up a form where people enter their email address, hit submit, then your sisters mate gets an email saying 'add me to your contacts' or whatever. Then she can send emails from outlook or whatever she uses. That'd sort out the wysiwyg problem, you wouldn't need a DB and it'd be about 4 lines of php. If not.. then I'd look at a free hosted solution, theres probably a few ajaxy web2.0 ones about by now. If not that, then build the site on wordpress or something and use a newletter plugin. If not, write your own If not, spend hours trawling over the net to find a decent free one
