Any suggestions for DH tyres? Prefereably in stock at CRC Running minions at the moment - 2.35 on the front, 2.5 on the back. The 2.5 one is almost bald, so I want to replace that with another 2.5, stick that on the front and stick my current 2.35 on the back. But, they're out of stock in 2.5 in 42e compound pretty much everywhere. Is the 60a compound that different? What alternatives are there that have a decent reputation? I've heard good things about kenda nevegals, but again, out of stock

Well, we're back. The server crapped itself and self imploded (for the geeks, the kernal got corrupted somehow). Anyway, it all seems to be back in place. No lost data thank god! (i don't think anyway...) Hope you didn't miss us too bad

Yeah I think thats a bit too much travel for my abilities, I'd prefer to sacrafice some travel for a weight saving. I've taken a look at the iron horse point 6 (very nice), but my current train of thought is a specialized pitch... I'm a sucker for brand loyalty (my rockhopper served me well back in the day!). I'm aware of that.. but its not good for the forum if we have members who feel they're being left out, and I don't think its good for the forum if we have the attitude of 'its our forum, we'll do what we want' - hopefully we/I don't come across like that too much... (unless someone is clearly being a dick, in which case I'll out-dick them ( ) without too much thought) As I said, it causes a rift and personally I'm not sure whether the benefits of having the SM forum outweigh the drawbacks.

Believe it or not I share the same concerns around SMship. In reality, theres nothing really going on in there. There's only so much conversation 15 odd active members can come up with, especially compared to thousands active on the main forums. Personally I hardly use it (hence why the other SMs probably get a little pissed off that we never make any new SMs ), but it does come in handy when talking about making changes or running something past some of the older members first, but its pretty rare that I'll do that. Whether it is worth keeping it I'm not sure. I'm sure the SMs wouldn't be too happy about losing their forum (we could always retain a status of some sort), but it sure does seem to piss a lot of members off, and I'm not sure whether the rift it seems to cause is worth it. As for censorship, if you don't like it.... well, I'll let you work out the rest

Condensed highlights of the forum would be exactly what a TF newsletter would be, maybe with some other stuff like events that are coming up, new products, some interesting topics and as you say some editorial content. We have 13,000 members (I think?) but I guess only 2000 of them are active so it would be a good way to get more people involved with the forum, and it'd be nice to have something to look back on in the future.

I've briefly thought about doing a monthly (or bi-montly) email newsletter for TF. Granted, everything will be bit out of date before it hits an inbox, but it'd be nice to have a round up of all the stuff thats happened for people who aren't on the forum much. We'd just need editors, cos I don't have the time (or knowledge) to do it all myself. If you fancy getting involved then let me know and we can get something started
