  1. The video section is back, if a little different this time. In short, I've given up on converting videos on the server, youtube and vimeo have this pretty much dialled so there's no point in trying to reinvent the wheel So, you can upload to youtube/vimeo, and add the video on TF. It'll automatically grab a thumbnail and create a new topic in the videos forum. To get it going, I've run a couple of scripts to attempt to grab any videos posted in the videos forum and imported them straight in. Still early days, first on the list to do is get random videos sorted. Thoughts welcome http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/videos/ http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/videos/ http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/videos/

  4. chill winstan, it wasn't an on purpose 'move', i just didnt realise. fiixed now, but only for new videos posted.
  5. Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. I think they should use Makita then it'd be f**king well good yea.
  6. Any chance you could email me the picture just so I can check why its not working? It really should work... If you get a spare 2 mins the address is admin [AT] trials-forum.co.uk - would be much appreciated
  7. tartybikes.co.uk has a world of stats on pretty much every trials component you can think of, and news of the latest stuff out tribalzine.com has lots of news trashzen.com is good for general info and tutorials and you're in the right place for everything and anything in between
  8. My post from SM chat, I've been thinking about this a fair bit, here it is: A good example is the post you were talking about isitafox, its the guys first post, he's put pics up and even put his phone number on there. I think I'd trust him more than most members with 50 posts, so why restrict him? Fair enough, he may have only come to sell something, but there's a chance he'll make the odd reply here and there and become a full time member. Common sense is required when dealing with new members, something that no amount of rules or restrictions is going to give people.
  9. Some of you will have spotted (some of you have even been editing it already ) a new section called 'The Manual'. The aim of this section is to combine all the useful info we have in the wiki (http://wiki.trials-forum.co.uk) and the FAQ forum, and get it all in one place. It's half wiki/half forum, in that it has a structure, but anyone is free to add articles and edit existing ones. At the moment, no credit is given to who has contributed to the content - this is the first thing on my list to sort out. Its a bit of a mess at the moment, but if people want to help out and start copying and pasting stuff from the wiki/wherever, that'd be ace A revision history is saved so i'll be able to pull out a list of contributers when i get the chance.
  10. Learning to rebleed a magura is a pretty good idea, a life long skill You can replace the TPA with a bolt if it has snapped - try searching for TPA bodge on here. There are also loads of topics about using water in a magura. Generally seems people prefer the 'snappier' feel of water over oil, and how much damage it may or may not do to your brake is in dispute. Personally.. being old fashioned, I'd stick with oil. You could do a bath bleed with oil.. if you had a shit load of oil and dont mind getting oil absolutely everywhere
  11. Yep, once I get this 'Trials Manual' area sorted (basically a more organised wiki) and everything transferred into there (hopefully with some help from members ) it should supercede the FAQ forum and we can finally ditch it edit, can you try and edit this page? http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/page/manual/_/workshop/test-r3
  12. Sounds to me like its just set up wrong. You shouldn't be able to pull the lever back to the bars. Some steps to diagnose: 1. When you pull the lever (even just a little bit) do the pads move immediately? If not, then you need to rebleed the brake. 2. Once the pads have made contact with the rim, can you still continue to (fairly easily) pull the brake lever towards the bar? If you can, or it feels 'spongy', then you need to rebleed the brake. 3. If neither of the above then the bleed should be fine, you just need to twiddle the TPA adjuster adjuster so the pads move closer to the rim. However, If your TPA is broken (most likely), you need to undo the evo-clamps, push the pistons closer to the rim, and tighten the clamps back up. Back in the day, the done thing was to use a penny as a rough guide for the distance you need between the pad and the rim. Its bloody fiddly though. There are some guides on TF on how to rebleed the brake, Find a member called 'Revolver' and look at his signature, there's a link to his guide there
  13. psyching myself up for tonights changes with some beer.

  14. Check out sleep as an droid, you tell it roughly when you need to wake up, put it on your bed while you're sleeping and it'll use the motion sensor to set off the alarm when you're in light sleep
  15. I would email each of the existing developers and ask if they can provide the functionality you need in their next release
  16. Have you done any programming before? There's probably more than one way to write an android app, but the way someone showed me looked pretty difficult and fiddly.
  17. Keep up The gallery supports videos now so I've moved them all into there (http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/gallery/album/2229-videos/). Uploading should work too, but I've not tested it much so I've kept it quiet. The old video system is still mine, but I dont maintain it any more and it'll only work on old versions of invision forum, its here for anyone who's nosey.
  18. 50 posts ins't set in stone, but those limitations mean the earliest they can become a full member is 10 days. Might change that depending on how things go. And not sure, but I may well give mods a button to 'fast track' new members into full members There isn't really an end because the forum makers (IPS) release big updates every year or so, so every time we upgrade the forum, it generally breaks any custom stuff we've done. So that, and fixing bugs. Same reason we only maintain one skin at a time
  19. eep, lots of replies - i've replied inside the quote in red in some places Yep, my bad. Caught me at a bad time, its just quite infuriating when people seem to think this is my 'job', 'cos its not, I get paid to do my job TF is something I do for fun in my spare time, so It can grate a bit when your attempts to improve the forum are continually met with resistance. I like the janitor idea, let me get this sorted first. see above See this: I've downloaded a ban system that can be modified to implement the sin bin system, needs a bit of work. and yep, I did the validation thing myself, and the videos system a while back, but i'm trying to avoid as much custom coding as possible because I dont really have the time to maintain it : So you might have noticed that I've shuffled the forums around and moved all the pre members into a 'transitional member' group. These will be limited to 5 posts per day and have free reign of the forums (minus Wanted/Trades), just like the new 'New Members' group. After a couple of weeks, to give us time to filter out any rubbish, I'll convert all pre/transitional members to full members. The image I posted above explains it pretty well One more thing, we have about 5 years worth of pre members coming into the forums (this hasn't happened yet, and not sure how many are still active), so it may be a bumpy ride over the next week or 2. Nothing is set in stone and I'll be making adjustments and taking suggestions along the way to find a system that works well for us, so bear with me!
  20. anyone know a song with a lyric 'k-k-k-k-k-k-karaoke'? If you know the song, that should be enough I heard it in a french taxi, so erm.. might be french.. <end hijacking >
  21. Ah, yep. Yep. I was going to add a beginners section too, might make it a little less daunting for new members
  22. Yep, thats the point, long term members can vote to devalidate/sin bin members. Same as the current system really, but the other way round. I think the first time someone clicks the 'sin bin' button, the member will get a PM along the lines of 'oops, someone wants to sin bin you for _this_ post. you'd better go and edit it to sort it out before someone else clicks sin bin and you erm, get sin binned'. Haha, I do like 'the void'.
