Thats my thinking It would make more sense to split in a different way, eg.. er, how to, mechanical help, choosing a bike, general trials (or something) IMO (if split at all)

http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/shed I'm in a rush, thoughts? Looks like you need to add your bike, then add the image after that. HOW TO USE 2 steps: You need to add your bike, THEN click 'add image' to upload a picture of your bike

Teenage Angst Communal Agony Aunt Thread
tomturd replied to Has anyone seen my shoe?'s topic in Chit Chat
Sorry to hear that Mike. My advice would be to (try and) not make any rash decisions. Just let your brain settle down first, its normal to be feeling shit at the moment and now really isn't a good time to be making any serious decisions. I don't think you should 'look up' to this. Its not natural to feel happy all the time. If you beat yourself up about feeling crap occasionally then you'll never come out the other side.... As you said, think positive. -
"Plus one" on both of those! Nice work.

Well said.

Thats just me doing a bit of housekeeping in the RSQ thread, trying to keep it to really small questions (eg "what does MDF stand for" (thats the best I could think of )) rather than more in depth questions which should go into new topics

what you want to look into is 'css sprites'. Basically set the background for one of the cells: td { background: url('path/to/image.png'); background-position: 0 0; }
then you want to shift that image upwards when the cell is being hovered over:
td:hover { background-position: -200px 0; /** I can never remember which way these positions work, so play around in firebug until its right **/ } pretty straight forward. and yeah.. try not to use tables

I think the guy who writes the BuySell system is going to integrate his own feedback thing into the next version, which will be nice as the current feedback system is fairly bug ridden. If you want something done right.. do it yourself. He's also confirmed there will be a 'View All Adverts' link
-
I will change it for you, the system is a pain in the arse though. I read your PM, please also tell me what you want it changed to too. No doubt this topic will flood my inbox with loads of requests, another reason I do them in bulk

The edit time was set to 0 in the settings (ie, no restriction on editing) but evidently thats not working as it should. I've updated it to 99999999 minutes for the time being, you should be able to edit ads now? View all is definitely something I'd like to see too, I'll suggested it to the author. I've also been in contact with the author, the next version will have a 'mark item as sold' button which will close the advert and leave it in public view for X number of days before it disappears.
-
I think this has pretty much been done to death already..
-
When the time runs out you'll be given the option to repost it. If you don't repost it within 60 days it'll be removed from the system (keeps everything tidy) The time length is 60 days, thats not editable (well, i can edit it globally) You should see a 'close' button which you can click once the item is sold, at the moment this seems to remove it from public view (although you can still see it under your listed items) but I'd like to change that so people can see the items no longer for sale.

cheers, done added under wheels good plan, forgot about that!

Gah, I dunno. I stuck it all under drivetrain. But suggestions very welcome on how to split it up better. I feel like forks, stems, handlebars and headsets should all be under the same category, but I don't know what to call it... probably missed a load out too!

http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/buysell/ Following on from a thread in the For Sale section, I've added a new 'BuySell' system to the forum which should make it much easier for buyers to find items, and easier for sellers to keep track of their adverts. This is only a trial run, but for all intents and purposes (I don't really understand that phrase), you're free to start using it. We'll be trialling it for a month or so. If it turns out to be rubbish or not suitable for us, it will be scapped. So please start using it so we can see if its worth keeping or not The for sale forums won't be affected, at least until we've made a decision on the new section. Suggestions/feedback welcome

Yeah, missed out on RRL too. When I started I bought/sold pretty frequently and ended up losing money. Trying to follow the crowds/rampers on discussion boards isn't a good idea in my experience, and everyone was ramping RRL so I didn't even look at it! I'm just sticking with my 3 now long term. They're all explorers looking to become producers (except for WTI who reported their first sales this morning) so hopefully in a year or two they'll be worth something. Dann, I read the naked trader, fairly light reading and a good introduction. I also use TDWaterhouse to buy/sell - it really is very simple once the account is set up. edit: shareprice.co.uk is good for share prices and discussion (it merges posts from multiple discussion boards). Their iphone/android app is excellent too.
