  1. The gasgas PRO range has been out since 2003. 6 years to solve there problems, and they are still crap. When the evo's came out they only had teathing problems. As does every new model. Plus the only cracking problems i have heard of happen to the higher level riders, for most people there fine.
  2. hmm i do think you get a lot for your money from the carrera range. Mine has been faultless and there often get high scores in mbuk. best thing to do is get to some shops and try a few bikes out. It tends to be the appolo bikes that are shit. At least the casseras are half decent construction with decent spec parts.
  3. how about mounts like this? Immence paint skills coming into play here.... edit: feck just read your last post. erm, vertical dropouts?
  4. Alex i have an idea for the brake mounts. Forget the idea of thin seat stays. Instead produce the stays like a normal frame, but machene the bottom part of the brake mount into the top of the stay. That way when the top part of the mount is bolted in, it will be an integral part of the frame. However to do this you need to have a weighty solid seat stay. Of which ihave no solution anyway, i doubt it would work, just throwing up ideas.
  5. I think this picture is to show just the down tube, chainstays, bb yolk and head tube together. I presume the finished frame would be the one above this picture including the top tube and seat stays. edit: beaten to it! Yea that would be cool alex, seams like its coming allong rather quickly now.
  6. Alex i cant wait to see this finished. But i would seriously keep try and get some copyright on it as its starting to take shape. some of the ideas especially the magura mount very special indeed. Having not read the whole thread, whats the geo going to be like? max Edit: Bit confused about the magura mounts. Will the cross over run through the frame? And how can you do up the clamps? Surely drilling holes for an alenkey/ bolt would weaken the thin top piece too much? Will it be stiff enough without a seat tube? Anyway looks really good. max
  7. couldnt find any. found loads about the 74kingz tensioners but im really looking for some pictures of home brew ones.....
  8. Carrera range from halfords. My 2005 kraken is an absolute beast. I ride the local DH trails on it and it rips A giant/trek/specialized you wont get a lot for your money, where as a carrera hardtail will be laced with goodies. max
  9. So ive decided to make a chain tensioner for my new stock as money is tight at the mo. As the 74kings tensioners look popular and reliable id like to make on like that. Ive got a steel rule, and loads of old chain slipper pads lying around, but it would be cool to see a picture of exactly how one works, or ones you guys have made. Any tips or hints would be great. max
  10. ive just bought some hope cassette spacers as tarty advised me not to get the trial tech mods as the tolerance on the trial tech spacers is quite low. Dont really know what hub there for.
  11. i was doing the exact same. Try when your on the back wheel, to bring the bike as vertical as possible. Then take off using your knees. I could barly sidehop a kerb, but as soon as i started thhis, i managed to get 30". max
  12. No! never! Im actually in love with the evo. They ride so nice Heath, treat her well! Now where did my spare £4k go............
  13. 04 or 05 style? Check the piston in the leaver may have developed a leak there. Mine did the same thing again lol
  14. mine did this. Replace your cross over. You have a leak.
  15. I like the tap on the planter outside the council buildings When i tryed backwheeling that the guy came out and shouted at us Edit: the bit around the back of drakes circus is the shizz!
  16. I have put a thin smear of grease on all my brakes, and moto bike brakes. And have never had a problem. Each to your own . . . . . . .
  17. I really like that. Wouldnt look out of place if you decided to stop off at the skate park or local trails on it.
  18. Yea cant wait I used an old set in the old heatsink backings and they where just phenominal! Cant wait for my new ones.
  19. Wouldnt be for me would it? Placed an order for mine earlier.
  20. Can defonatly see the improvement there. You look quite tall, so i think you may benefit from some riser bars and/or a higher rise stem. You look quite stooped over the front.
  21. Try dot 4. I ran mine on it and always had compliments on how nice the lever feel was. Oh as well, try taking the pistons out, polishing with wire wool, and then re-fitting them with a TINY smear or grease on the pistons
  22. When i had my monty, i used a bash plate to learn on, but when i got better i had it off. Its good to learn with because you have the security of it but i did like a bash ring if im honnest.
