new bearings will be packed with grease so will roll slower. Its not about the speed at which it rolls, but how smooth it rolls.

Perhaps it wouldnt really skip as such? Would just feel like a slightly larger engagement point?

Its very much personal opinion. I have 175 tryall cranks and 18:14was too heavy. 18:15 was nice. 18:16 is more my cup of tea Much better for static moves.

Still likely to be that. Have a look HERE for bottom brackets. Have a look for info on how to remove a crank arm.

A dry interface between the crank arm and bb will cause a creak. The only other reason would be a knackared BB. If it was me i would grease it first. Its going to cost virtually nothing, where as taking it to a bike shop they will probably just replace the BB straight away even if its unnececerry.

Yea you will. Isis drive isnt a necessaty but its a good thought for the future. You will need just a tube of multipurpose grease available from a motorfactor / B&Q ect

remove cranks from the bb spindle. Then grease the spindle. Re-assemble. Then save for some isis cranks.

i had the same problem. You need to use a duel wheel tensioner with that gearing or get bigger rear sprocket to help the amount of chain wrap.
