The main problem is the fact you have a short cage mech. Usually a 3x9 or 3x8 gear set up requires a long cage mech, that offers a greater range of tension over the large range of gears. Short cage = 2x9 or 1x9 really.

Strange Clicky Noise Coming From Chain .... Please Help :(
trialsmax04 replied to Koxx Kock's topic in Trials Chat
I bet its the crank arm hitting the magura slave. -
Yes you do. Heatsink yellows are the best pads ive used. Blues/snowys are for smooth rims and running them on a grind will kill them in a short period of time.

Teenage Angst Communal Agony Aunt Thread

Skoze, im in the same situation Me and my missus are almost 3 years in, and its all gone tits up. She is going through some shit with family atm, and its like I dont even know her. She says she still loves me, but she hasnt been feeling the same recently about us as normally. Im just so confused. The arguments are getting to me. I dont what to do. We have agreed to just cool it off for a week or so, and just have time to think about it all. Sometimes i just cant be without her. Then she's all shitty and is the last person i want to be with. TF relationship hospital? Help? -
Otn Find, Phat Carbon Frame, Replaceable Tubes.

What is up with people?! Looks amazing. Trials needs new products like this. Frames and other components are getting to uniform now days, no originality. I'd buy one -
Like whats been said further up in the topic, there was some lovely art'y shots in there, the riding didn't really do it for me, he has lost the "Wow" factor from the recent videos. Id much rather watch Stan Shaw or Ali C brakeless, or Kenny doing street.

Hmm, what size bb are you running??
-
Yea, well I've had a bit of a search around and not many people have tried it for MTB use. But as it's all gone fine for you and it's cheep enough might as well try it. Really stumped with tyres though at the moment. Seams to be conflicting reviews about everything. Might just do the single ply high roller route. Rubber queen 2.2s are tempting me though.

Tripple set-ups are always a ball ache. As long as the chain isnt hanging off the bike whilst in the granny and 9th (never use that gear anyway), and the mech isnt shitting itself in 3rd up front, and first out back. Good to go
-
Im not sure i follow you on that one? Sorry read it properly. Ive never done it like that before. Ive always ran it through the mech when sizing it up as to avoid the mech being over stretched.
-
When new there an absolute b*****d. The best way i have found is to squeeze the plates together gently when squashing the link appart. It is tricky and last chain i fitted was a right git! Chain tension looks ok though?
-
Adjust the barrel adjuster on the shifter all the way in so it is at 0 adjustment. Then remove the cable from the front mech anchor, check the limits by hand (look down the granny should be in the middle of the mech, and if your strong enough pull the mech out to check the big ring. If ok pull cable tight (not so tight the mech moves) and re-secure onto the anchor bolt. Try shifting now. If the mech struggles to shift up, more tension is needed (anti-clockwise adjustment on barrel) like wise, if it wont shift down, less tension is needed. Hope that does it Bike is looking awesome! Edit: looks like you have the front mech very high! It should be about 2-3mm off the top of the big ring when its in top gear to.

Good call! Glad you went for the xt kit. Those mechs are brill! Only thing i would say is that the stem looks fairly high. But then again, I like a low front end and i know nothing about the geo of the beast.

Crashbang, can't wait too see it fully built!

I have A2 geology (palaeontology module) on the 8th then two geography exams on then14th and 17th.

I know there is a GCSE thread but what about the poor A-level'ers? Exams are on. How is everyone coping? Feel like I'm dying from revision. Anyone struggling with A2 geography? Wish I had never taken it now

Cheers for the input dude. Im defiantly going to give it a go. Im just worried about the horror stories of the sealant de-laminating tyres and such. Im now going to be on the look out for some cheep (ish) new tyres for my Wales trips this summer. Thinking about some Rubber Queen 2.2s to whack on there. You can still get the non black-chilli version with a little hunting, which drops the price to £15 each. Did a bit of working out, the claied weight of the Conti's is 650g each. My current tyres are 1,100g (duel ply highrollers). so : 1100g tyre + 200g tube =1300 x 2 = 2600g currently 650g Conti tyre + 60g cut tube + 60g sealant = 770g x 2 = 1540g tubeless set up. £30 for tyres £5 for tubes £12 for sealant = £47 for new tyres and tubeless set up! I have to keep it fairly cheep because im still on a hunt for a bigger riding pack for summer. There goes another £50!! Sound about right? A drop of over a kilo rotating weight is massive!
-
True that. Im going to try it. Tomm have you seen the Ghetto version? You dont need special rims or tyres...

I've just got an acer 5742 which was £500 from curries. Originally had a hp for my birthday which was utter shite, so decided to go for another Acer as we have had them before and no problems so far. The model I got has the intel i5 processor which is shit hot, 500gb hdd and 4 gb of ram, webcam and 15.6" screen. Knocks the shIt out of my girlfriends dell inspiron. Highly recommended!

Young man. You make me sick. What happened to that lad who 5'd every section on the comp we rode?huh? Darn you! Your riding puts me to shame. I hate you!!! Dont really, Cool vid!

New Chain Has Lost Me Small Front Crank Tension
trialsmax04 replied to KEEPitSTUPID's topic in Bike Chat
Yes. Shift into the granny ring on the front, and the smallest gear on the back (i.e. 9th), then undo the power link connector and tighten the chain by overlapping the two pieces until the chain is tight enough to be ridden (should still taught, but the mech will still be swung back). Remove excess links from one side of the chain with a chain tool, then fix the chain with the power link. Finally check you havnt removed too much, by shifting into the biggest gear on the rear (1st) then biggest on the front (3rd). Mech shouldn't be any more than 45 degrees pointing forward. -
Hi all, Immcurrently considering going to tubeless set up on the MTB to reduce rolling weight. Ive read up a few different " ghetto" and it seams it can be done fairly cheep. I'm looking to also get some maxxis ardents or advantage tyres too. Any one tried tubeless on these? Back to title, pro's and con's of tubeless? Thanks, Mas
