Hey guys, i know this is a bit of a silly one but....i have just been looking at pics and everyone with maxxis tyres (bulter, donovan etc) all have their maxxis logos on the other side to me, the closest pic i have does make it look as though they have the sloped parts on the highroller tyres facing backwards, i have put mine on following the rotation arrow and the sloped parts face forwards, the same applies on the minion. As these tyres are designed for downhill i just wanted to ask what the best way round to run them is? cheers-Hugh

I have started this topic about the gear rule only because i feel it's pointless making you have them when no one uses them, the bikes still remain very different. people use different techniques t tackle objects depending on what bike you have. I dont mean on every obstacle because thats clearly not the case, but say for example you have a rock that the 20" riders are sidehopping, the 26" riders may very well come along and tap it. The gears would never be used, why do you think vincent has his gear shifter on the v-racing attatched to the seat tube? I have always followed the rules and we do need them however i feel some are a but silly.-Hugh

hey guys, need some help just to clarify a few things...i have just rpinted off my 1st round entry form, do i have to enclose entry and membership fees (£11 & £10) with this form? Dos the membership act as a ymsa liscence or do i need this also? If so where from? cheers-Hugh

These try-all frewheels seem to be a bit hit and miss. Some work great, some just go completely tits up. I have run the acs for ages but when i got my new 07 monty ti it came with one of the 72 pick up point freewheels, they cost just under £40 and there great mine hasnt skipped once and not come loose once either. On my new 26" build i have gone for a tensile as this is what they had in stock and they seem pretty good, and my bike is being built with mainly onza parts etc. For £50 the try-all should no way skip like that, complain to koxx direct or go back to the shop you got it from, i would!

Hi guys, got my tensile freewheel today, for the front of my 26". I also got a kmx kool chain at the same time. the chain is a 1/8" (so it says on receipt) and the box for the freewheel has got 3/32" ticked. Surely this is wrong? or is it one size fit all? cheers-Hugh

Hey guys, i'm probably gona get moaned at for posting this but... Dont you thinki it's silly to still have the 6 working gear rule at BIU events? They want more riders to ride comps but most 26" are running single speed setups. I think UCI rules are now allowing single speed. I dont think the 26" riders change gear at comps anyway, ad it doesnt give any advantage not to have them apart from it's one thing less to break. I have seen with my own eyes the likes of hermance get their bikes scrutineered at a BIU world round then straight after cable tie their rear mechs up so the gears dont actually work! I think we should make it known that gears are pointless and hopefully have the rule changed.-Hugh

yeah it's wikid! Should have it done tomorrow with pics up if everything comes through the post? cheers-Hugh

Hi guys, how do you fit that circular seal/bearing support that sits on the lower part of the steerer tube on your forks? I have put it on as far as it will go and put the forks in and done the top cap bolt up to kinda press it on. I'm worried it isnt on all the way though. is there a special tool, how do you guys do it? cheers-Hugh

naa not gona drill it myself, done them before really good but it's a new rim, i'll just use it until the new white ones come out
-
I oredered some hog rims from supercycles last week, i got them sent to my uni address so i havent seen them yet but when looking on the tartybikes site today they have just put up the new pics of the "new rims", so i rang someone at my uni address and got them to open the box. Both front and back now have the hog logo instead of having the holes at the back. Anyone know if the plain and simple drilled rear hog rim is still avalable? cheers-Hugh

go for the monty ti 72 click one mate. there awesome.
-
ive had try all and both new and old style montys. The old monty's lasted me for ever, until i out grew them!!Even then they looked great. The try-alls lasted me a few months, the soles went really quik and holes developed on the insides. My new monty's seem good so far and very comfy. I'm gona get myself a set of ribo's to try though. -hugh

ive just got the adamant a1 2007 stock mod frame, i am riding comps on it but i believe you can run single speed in uci and biu seems to be changing (well in spain so far anyway). I'm just building mine up and have gone for an adamant rear fixed up and a front monty ti (new 07 loads of clicks jobby) freewheel. Tartybikes have told me that the cassette hubs are a bit weak so defo go for the front freewheel option.

yep fair doos, i'll keep an eye out. cheers-Hugh

Hey Dave, i'm more intersted in the whole uci scene but what comps are on throughout the year, i know you run the ymsa etc and i know there's know brit uci champs, so whats avaliable abroad?? Just so you know my level of riding i did the BIU worlds in senior in 05, have had a year off and back on it again now. cheers-Hugh
-
i'm also doing them all, think i'll be riding a 20" in senior but i may consider the 26" as i'll be riding ymsa on this. Trying to turn towards the more UCI style of riding so have to wait and see. cheers-hugh
